I didn't know Patroclus well at all. All I really know is how brave he was. He gave his life to protect to Hartley Rathaway's....

*Chris looks down at his feet and recites a Bible verse.*

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

**finally, after a number of other speakers, including Hippolyta and Jason, it was time for the final speaker, the place of honor, Achilles himself**

**he steps up to the front and is handed a torch by one of the amazons...he climbs the three ladders until he stands at the top by the resting place of the Patroclus carving**

**he speaks loudly and his voice carries**

"All who have spoken have spoken true words of the heart. Patroclus was a brave warrior, a soldier who did not waver in the face of threats, be it mortal or god. He did not know Hartley personally. He simply knew that there was someone under threat, and he wished to go with those closest to his own heart in order to rescue Hartley. His last act, perhaps his bravest, will also be his most noble."

**the first sign of the tears in Achilles's eyes begin to show**

"Destiny does not always play out the way we would wish. The gods themselves do not create the paths, they merely steer those that walk them. My path was forged the day my mother bathed me in the waters Styx."

**Chris notices a woman who appears right at his side, one of regal virtue and could only be the goddess, Thetis**

"I believed my heart meant was meant only for war, but Patroclus changed that belief. He completed me. Gave me the feelings I never thought I deserved. He as both my heart and soul. He was loved by all who knew him."

**Achilles fingers the seashell necklace that Thetis made for him, just like the one she made for Patroclus to betroth the two boys**

"Farewell, my brother my love."

**he lays the torch into the hay and watches as the flames climb high**

"The circle will be complete."

**and he slowly starts to descend as the pyre's flames grow higher**

The entire time Cassie did not speak.. Not because she didn't care but more because she was at a loss for words. Cassie remembered when Donna died she didn't have the courage to speak up and when Conner died she did speak up only to end up breaking down. Poor Patroclus... he was brave though it cost him his life something Cassie had seen over and over again.
Cassie looked at Achilles her heart stretched out to him she could literally feel his pain though she wasn't sure if it was because she had been there before, because the were siblings, or perhaps even both. Another friend dead.. Cassie hated losing friends.. and Patroclus was more then a friend.. as far as Cassie was concerned he was family.. Cassie was still frozen and though she didn't realize it tears were pouring out her eyes and streaming down her cheeks and onto the floor.

Cassie dries her eyes gently and gives her big brother a huge hug.

" I'll always be here for you should you need anything.."

Cassie then walked down to the beach.. and looked at Chris.

"Is everything alright?"

Cassie smiles gently..

" I know what you mean so much has happened in such a short period of time... I never even thought I would ever find love again after Kon.."

Cassie bit her tongue, she couldn't believe she just blurted it out.. she never once said a word to anyone but Achilles about Kon-el. It was a sad memory but hers none the less.. She simply looked out at the ocean.

Cassie closes her eyes..

" Kon-el or Conner.. and I grew up together. He was actually Clark Kent's little brother and we dated for quite a while. We were suppose to both start Hero High at the same time but before school started... he died..and..."

Cassie bit her tongue again she didn't think it would be this painful to tell Chris about Kon but some feelings never go away..

"Well.. yeah.. he's dead.."

" It's okay... I meant to tell you.. it's just.."

Cassie cried a little on Chris's shoulder..

" It's ...still hard.. I thought it would get easier but it hasn't"
