"But..." she started up, looking up towards Tiamika with concerned eyes. She would then share a glance with her black-haired sister Cybil, who nodded in Melinda's direction, and lowered her gaze afterwards.
"... okay. Sorry to bother, Miss Tiamika."

"Yeah, we're just going to go. It was a pleasure, Tia!" Cybil called out and waved, before standing behind her moping little twin sister and forceably pushing her down the hallway, which was like moving a heavy statue when she got this way.
After they got outside and reunited with Zandra, they would need to talk. Something was amiss, and Cybil thought she might have an idea what...

--- The Crimson Hawk Hotel, not too long ago --- --- ---
Maximos had been banged up pretty badly from his fight with team Frozen Flame, and the alter-ego that did the fighting had pretty much left him for dead. It was only a chance encounter with a strange man named Omikron that allowed him to get back up on his feat so soon. The large man had carried Maximos to the HoH medical tent, and near immediately the attendants recognized him as staff. The procedures would have been extensive, save for the eventual insistence by the judge that he recover in his room. Likely due to the presence of a certain potent tea. Which brings us up to the current moment...
--- Maximos' Suite --- --- ---
The large fellow had latched onto the man he found in the alleyway mostly out of concern. For one, he had doubts of the ability of the tea even after seeing the job it had done this far. It just seemed a bit far fetched. But also because something very dangerous did this to Maximos, and Omikron just so happened to be searching for something dangerous. Thus assisting the man's recovery could likely help the figures own goal.
Thus Omikron would get the tea and make conversation, what he beleived any decent person would do in this situation.
This isn't to say the large man didn't have his own set of suspicious behaviors. For one he had yet to take off the sweater or even lower the hood, and that's not even considering the exposed large arm or armoured flesh. Then there was his strange habit of pouring himself a cup of hot water with every batch of tea. He would simply hold the cup without taking a sip, empty it when ever he had the chance, only to refill it after.
Strange.
"Are you sure you do not need a call for the doctors, sir Maximos?" With less ringing in his ears Maximos could probably pick up a few more intricacies of his good Samaritan's voice. There was a hollow quality to it, a very flat and rarely changing inflection, though it sounded as the man was aware of this and forcing himself into changes when he could. Even so, there was a calm almost regal aspect in the way the man spoke, a consistently polite tone.
"I am sure they are quite competent."

The most basic of first aid was all Maximos had accepted. A splint on his broken arm, several layers of bandages on his other, stitches were necessary. Moving was a pain, and he had a slight limp in one leg, but otherwise he was mobile.
There was something about this man, however loosely the term might fit, that peaked his curiosity. Omikron was masculine, his gender wasnt in question, it was whether the term "man" or "human" fit at all. His soul showed nothing...absolutely nothing...of the mans past, or past lives, or even vestiges of what was before, that alone was odd. As was, though lesser, the mans interest in Maximos' health. Odd in a positive way, in the fact that as much as they should, people like this people who were willing to do with Omikron did for Maximos this morning, do not but rarely exist.
Maximos would have been sure to say "Thank You" and sincerely at every possible opportunity.
Unforuntately Lifeleaf tea, as peaceful as it was, was not exactly stealthy. His splinted arm for instance periodically let out a sound similar to what you might hear when stepping on a twig, as did his chest. The bit taken from his lip was visibly repairing, layers of fresh pink steady rolled over over onto each other as he took each breath, and as he spoke.
As the large...individual got the tea, Maximos watched him, without a ringing in his head, and bloodshot vision Max was seeing, and hearing things alot clearer. That hot water business, and the odd, even unknown material from which that armor had been constructed. Remembering the large figures reaction to the sight of the crowd, Maximos did his very best not to make him feel on the spot, or like he was being scrutinized. He responded brightly, with a smile, and much more pep to his voice that when they had met this morning.
I honestly believe they are. Thank you, honestly.
He said nodding. He nodded, as a seed of sense and a drop of realization sprouted within him and starting growing.
Call it antique reasoning, I'm just not comfortable with all of there "modern" medicine. I mean...I understand that a small pill is meant to take my pain away, and by cutting me open they can fix things inside...but in my day...
And then it dawned on him. His sentence came to a slow stop and he hung on that last syllable as all the pieces in his head fell into place. It was less realization and more recognition. Maximos used to do the same thing not two years ago before he had this body.
Omikron was trying to fit in.
Hot water. Perhaps he didnt trust the tea? Or perhaps he simply could not ingest it. So he'd empty it to match the appearance of drinking it. And then his voice, it was clearly different...but Omikron trying his best to make it sound..."acceptable". A shadow form was barely human, even if it looked like it outside, it didnt need food or sleep, but Maximos did all those things and more, awkwardly to "fit in". It was easier for him that the large fellow, before him but...the similarities were enough for him to take his sentence and divert it in an entirely different direction.
It was sudden perhaps, but it was far from rude. Infact, Maximos sounded sympathetic. The Shadow had a way of sounding as if he had known someone his entire life, even when first meeting them. It was for some a disarming warmth, and it slipped out without a thought.
...I appreciate the sentiment, honestly, I truly do. And I mean no offense, but, you dont have to hide yourself Mr. Omikron. I know what its like to be "different"...
He made air quotes, though only with one hand.
...from what Gaian society might expect. I mean after what you did for me today, I can safely say, that no matter what is under that hood, your not a monster.
It was an assumption, yes, but still. Maximos had faith, it seemed a waste for any villain to bring the broken man all the way here just to kill him.
After what you did for me today, the very least I can do in thanks, is try and make you as comfortable as possible.
And then he sort of paused and took a sip of tea, followed by a scratch to the side of his head, and an awkward smirk as he added on.
Or am I just, entirely off base?

It was noticeable. The way this conversation went put Omikron on an edge just because he didn't know where it would go. He cradled his teacup, shuffled armoured feet, and generally let out a vibe of apprehension. At this point Omikron had hoped he could ensure the man's health and just dissapear. This was obviously not the case.
"I... Well... I..." It was strange seeing such a large fellow stumble over words. But at the same time this was the reason Omikron ventured from Syntaxis, "I will take you at your word Maximos, as you are correct."
One gauntlet-like hand went to the zipper and the other went to the top of the hood. The reveal as it would be. His torso under the sweater would look in sync with the appendages, it appeared to be the same light-eating black armour. The strange thing was while the armour would fade away as body gave way to neck, the material did not. It seemed this armour was the creatures flesh. Though the bizarre part was Omikron's face, or rather lack of one. His head was devoid of all features save for one very large yellow eye, taking up all the space two eyes would normally take up and a bit more. It seemed Maximos' suspicion that Omikron could not ingest was correct.
"I apoligize, I did not mean to hide anything from you. It is just that..." A delicate issue lead to a delicate pause, "My kind in the past have done horrible things... Even I myself have committed unforgivable acts while my will was not my own. I hide to prevent a panic, as well as to insure I do not injure anyone whom believes it is the just thing to engage me."
With all this information perhaps Maximos may connect Omikron to Shade, considering the events of the Grand Battle or perhaps even struggles against the Shades in the distant past. Perhaps there was some note on the creatures cross-referenced in Maximos' memory. But between the fact his eye could gleam no information, and the once master of Omikron was not covered under Maximos' job description, the reaper would likely have to find out the old fasioned way.
"I did not mean to burden you with this." Just as Maximos was sincere so was Omikron in hi apology, "What is it that tipped you off."
The shadelord was of course completely unaware that it was likely no matter what he did Maximos would be able to see through his flimsy disguise. Of course he had pretty much hamstrung his own disguise once he removed the large coat. The arm was pretty much a give away.
"Was it my speech? Mannerisms? No. No... It was the tea was it not?" There was almost a note of embarrassment in the hollow voice, "I apologize again, it was selfish but... I enjoy the ritual that surrounds the beverage."

"How 'bout here?" Matthew would ask his partner, Rae, nodding his head towards the outdoor burger joint. It was a trailer turned fast food restaurant, with picnic tables set up all around. "I think we... need to share informantion, because we both seem out of the loop about what actually went down at the Stadium." he explained, sweatdropping at the thought of everything that went down.

"Mmmm, french fries..." There was a tone to her voice that suggested they had found something that she liked better than sex truth be told xp but mostly it was just an affirmative to the choice.
"Well, what do you want to know? I'm not really sure that even together we will have enough pieces to this puzzle to figure out what it is supposed to be..." sweatdrop Rae was trying her damnedest to be chipper, but it was very annoying being out of the loop when one was used to being in the thick of things and having someone she trusted there to tell her when to duck.

Matthew would order two large fries, and a hamburger for himself as well, before sitting down with Rae at a table to wait for his food.
"Yeah, I don't really know who was who there..." he said, embarassed. "I figure the information I could share would be more background material for me, than anything. Though, yeah. Landsharks. Three of them showed up, and started attacking people. Not really my area of expertise, plus I didn't want to get shot trying to help anyone. I was a bit worried about you, though..." he started. He instantly sat up straight, waving his hands in front of him defensively. "Er, I mean, I didn't want them to get you from behind! I think there's much better things to do to you than eat you!"
Facepalm. "I'll shut up now. Anyways, I..." His stomach growled at him, interrupting him, which he sneered at. "The food's coming, ya ungrateful b*****d!" Back to Rae, he tilted his head and sweatdropped.
"Like I was saying, I'm... well, not human. I'm actually part of an endangered species. We try to protect the planet and its people to the best extent of our abilities, but there are those who have become fully consumed by darkness, that there isn't anything we can do to save them. They are enthralled by the Wyrm, which is the essence of destruction, so to speak. He never used to be evil, as he was just part of the cycle of life. But he got snagged by the Weaver and went nutso over the millennia, and now empowers beings to do his bidding and destroy everything."
He looked back towards the stadium, where everything had just gone down. "A few of those people really really had the scent of the Wyrm around them. They're very dangerous, and I fear what they mean to destroy with such power at their disposal..."

Rae couldn't help a slight snicker at the mention of eating her... honestly keeping her mind out of the gutter was a real challenge sometimes xp
"Your a Planeteer?!" Oh bother.. hopefully he wouldn't catch that reference, it was very bad to let people know that you were a cartoon junkie, especially if they also found out that you still hadn't managed to figure out how to program your VCR sweatdrop it kinda made you look really silly to know that you loved cartoons but were technologically disinclined.
"Are we talking about Victor here? I know that by Wyrm you mean the demon that stole Seirra's body.. I don't like her much by the way, the demon I mean, not Seirra, I liked her just fine, she was hot!" oh boy.. Rae really needed to start stuffing her face with food before she said something really stupid. "I know some of the people back there are bad, and we just watched one of my oldest and dearest friends run off to join the b***h and Vahn's brother." stare
"But I already knew you weren't human dear... I don't think I actually know any real humans anymore... Damion was human before, but I kinda changed him by accident." Now it was her turn to do the facepalm thing, she had thought she heard the Islander before they left, but she hadn't even had a chance to say hello.
"What do you want to do now, besides eat?" Rae was a follower, she was always more comfortable following someone else's lead than in having to take the reins herself, so it was natural to ask her companion for his thoughts on the matter.

He tried to be polite. He really did!
The sort of tension his comment made, set a sort of awkward silence in the air as Omikron spoke, and moved. Maximos face didnt show anger, or disappointment, or fear, or...anything. Because he truly didnt know how to react. He meant to cut through whatever it was clinging the large man to his disguise but...he didnt know what would or could be beneath it.
And then it was revealed to him. And he smirked.
He understand the sentiment the shade lord expressed, entirely. He had a dark past. He did things he most certainly was not proud of, while out of his own control. It made him smirk. But this wasnt about him.
The face, or lack there of. The eye. The mention of a dark past. It rang absolutely no bells what so ever. Max had never heard of shades or any grand battles. It was a side effect to spending his time on Shadow Island so secluded from the rest of the world.
He tried his very best to be polite. He tried not to stare. You dont stare at a persons face when they're talking to you. You look them in the eye...but what if that is...the entirety of there face...?
Max was staring. Hard. Right into that yellow eye. As if that wasnt bad enough he was just about silent until Omikron finished leaving the question of why he was smirking to begin. But once the Shadelord paused appropriately, Maximos' smirk cracked open as his lips formed words and he said.
Well!
Immediately accompanied by a small chuckle. It was nothing obnoxious, thought it was stifled a bit to keep the ribs jostling too much.
I suppose we wont have to worry about what you'd like for lunch!
And he smiled just about from ear to ear, while trying not to laugh as it would be exceedingly painful. He wanted nothing more than to dash any tension to pieces at that moment. This man had nothing to fear from him, nothing at all. Infact, their similarities were a bit astonishing.
Its no burden, really. Your past is your past, its made you who you are today, and I know the virtue of that character first hand. And well...
A grin, he listened to the shade lord trying to pick out where the whole might be in his Kent-Like disguise. And Maximos tried to figure out how to say "Well your made of metal, genius" without being rude. The man truly was rather obvious. So, very delicately he spoke.
....yes, it was part those.... And...
A bandaged hand sort of gestured in Omikron's general direction. I mean he couldnt pick out one thing. It was everything!
...your...skin, appears to be um....made...of armor. And your...well, your rather large. Theres really no need to apologize, I just want you to be comfortable.
The bandaged hand moved to scratch the back of his head, semi-nervous. Asking it was direct, possibly even rude, but he had ask none the less.
This may be extremely forward of me Mr. Omikron but what, are you?

"Order up!" the cook called out, and Matthew raised a finger to indicate a pause as he went up and got the food. ((Intelligence + Streetwise of cook = 5, to give him the benefit of the doubt...)) Quote: "Taking the Forgotten" - When using this gift, the user can steal an object from its owner, and they will instantly forget ever possessing it in the first place. (System: Roll Wits + Stealth, the difficulty is the target's Intelligence + Streetwise). With four successes, it was no difficulty taking the entire tray and ensuring the cook forgot they even existed. The reason he had chosen a table outside of the view of the window... Plopping the tray down at the table, he took a bite of his hamburger hungrily, before going on, talking with his mouth half-full. Mmm... ish good... an' na, da wyrm ish na Ra'kar, ih..." Swallowing, he continued. "Its the essence of destruction itself. Those who follow the Wyrm are consumed by its influence and desire nothing else but."Taking another bite of his hamburger, he was going to ask who Victor was when Rae "I don't like her much by the way, the demon I mean, not Seirra, I liked her just fine, she was hot!" Suddenly, Matthew choked on his food for a moment, caught off guard by the comment. He pounded on his chest a few times, and worked the chunk of food through his esophagus. "Ack... ahem... don't DO that!!!" Suddenly, something occured to him, and you could almost see his heart almost sink. "You're not a lesbian, are you?" sad There were things he wanted to ask, including the changing Damion thing, but suddenly, something much more important got moved up on Matthew's agenda.

Rae had a fry half in her mouth when he started choking, wondering if he would be alright before he asked that last question. " Oh no.. from what I understand Lesbian refers to women who are only interested in other women, right?" confused She didn't really wait for him to answer that question before she moved on. " No, I like the term Adventurous! Because I don't base my feelings on the gender of the person that I am interested in!" She tossed a few more fry's into her mouth, barely bothering to chew as he stomach complained at her. " I either think you are cute..." She leaned over the table to gently tap the tip of his nose as she winked at him. wink " ...or I don't!" With that settled she sat back down and dug into lunch.

Blink.
Blink blink.
Matthew would sit there dumbfounded for a moment. Then, all at once, he seemed to become engrossed in thought, his brow furrowing, his face scrunching, trying to add things up in his head.
After a few seconds, it would appear that he came to a very regrettable decision, as his expression went sour, and he took an angry chomp from his burger and chewed hurridly.
"You better not be the death of me, Raed." he grumbled, before grabbing a handful of fries from his own plate and shoving them in his mouth in a very uncivilized manner.
After eating in silence for the better half of a minute, he would eventually sigh, and very gracefully facepalm. "So... if Viccy and Racky are so gosh darned bad, why doesn't anyone just blow up their base of operations?" he asked, inhaling and exhaling deeply and looking over Rae's shoulder in the direction of the Stadium from wince they came.

"See, that is what I don't really get!" Wow, Matt and Rae both spoke nickname xp that was kinda creepy... "I can not be the only person who knows how to get to that place..."
Her face screwed up for a moment as she munched at the fries "But that didn't work out the first time we tried to go for Vickii... three elementals and Kas wasn't enough to take him out... and Rakii makes the problem twice as bad because Kas wouldn't want to slice and dice the body that he has the hots for...even if she is an evil b***h at the moment." Chaotic orange eyes looked over his head at the distant horizon.
"We tried once and failed, and so things naturally got worse..." those strange eyes of hers slowly moved down to lock with his. "But I don't have a clue how to fix this mess!" sweatdrop

Suddenly, Matthew stood up with a start, slamming his hands down on the picnic table. "YOU KNOW WHERE THEIR BASE IS?!?!"He raised his hands as fists in front of his chest excitedly, almost shaking all over with excitement. "I can even the odds! I can restore the balance to the world and make everything right again! This is the opportunity I've been waiting for!"He leaned forward and grabbed Rae by the shoulders. "Please, you have to tell me where it is! And I can make everything better again! Their evil plans will be for naught! PLEASE, Rae!"Was he actually serious? Did he have some sort of Ace up his sleeve, that can tip the balance in favor of the good guys? Tune in tomorrow for the next spectacular episodes of Rage FOOLS V...I!
