That would be nice.
It's similar to a lot of media with superpowers having to reset the powers a power-absorbing character accrues. Sadly, this is often done by the introduction of a character with the power to nullify/suppress powers, which is very trite by now (X-Men, Heroes, etc...).
I hope you enjoy your TFs once they arrive.

Well, I am willing to wait and see if Korra can be 'saved' as a series. This coudl be a good way to get that moving. Additionally, it could help the meaningless drama of shipping.

I just find it hideous that they are still milking the "love triangle" with lord indecisive, Rich victim woman, and the avadurr. I mean, the male in the group is the most idiotic stereotype possible, the rich girl acts like she is a total victim here when she was emotionally unavailable as I remember, and we have discussed how korra has so very many faults.
I would like to see them take steps to make it better . . . but I am too cynical to think it to be likely.

Yeah, it's like all they think teenagers care about is romance... Especially with the primary audience of the original Avatar, this seems like a very silly move.
I'm also disappointed to hear Korra Book 2 is only going to have 14 eps. I had heard the later seasons would have 20 each.

Only 14? wow . . . seems they are hamstringing the series! That will mean any resolution they find will end up feeling forced. The original series was capable of small solutions, but the character arcs had three seasons. Without a major storyline across several seasons, Korra has yet another issue to face. Glad I don't write for them.

I found out since they just announced it will be done by the end of November, with 2-parters the last 2 weeks to wrap everything up quickly.
Yeah, maybe the low ratings thus far made Nick cut their budget (conditional clauses in contracts and what-not).
Since the Avatar writers will likely not get another chance, maybe Gennedy Tartovsky (creator of Samurai Jack) is cooking up something good. I really would like to see Western cartoons be capable of anime levels of quality, but it seems that only happens once in a blue moon...

That likely has a lot to do with culture. In Japan, cartoons and animation are aimed at a wide range of audiences. From the three-year-olds drooling into the carpet to the middle-aged women needing a bit of drama to watch, to the lecherous needs of old men like me. Here in the West, cartoons and animation are 'kids stuff.' That barrier keeps American cartoons to teens or less. Sometimes you do get a good show, but most of the time they flop. I agree that it is a shame, but possible.
As for Avatar, they just screwed up a good formula. They made it modern, belittled bending, make the avatar a p***k, and had no overall story development. So many missteps, so little time.

All very good points, and you're right.
I guess it just saddens me how the entertainment for adults in the West pales in comparison to some anime.

As for animation, I wonder if it will not change in time. After all, nerds/geeks rule hollywood for now. We have taken over the media, and now rule the dollars needed to fund such things. Cultures can change, perhaps we will see animation as a better way to make money and turn to it for more adult entertainment.

No problem at all. Sudden airing schedule changes can be confusing. Apparently the last 2 airings in November will both be hour-long 2-parters.
xd The many nuances of the word "adult."
It would be great if that happened, though the current comic book craze seems like it will rule Hollywood for the time being.

And that is what gives me a glimmer of hope for animation. Comics can be seen as childish, but if one were to look at things like Batman or X-Men, some seriously adult themes are tackled in a grim way. Aside from the emo/grimdark, there is a great deal of opportunity there. If movies follow suit with comics, then animation may get a Renaissance.

Yeah, the overly dark is getting a bit too prevalent for my tastes. However, I don't think it will last, as the popularity of edgy material has always had an ebb and flow.
I am very glad for the serious nature of the 2 comics you mentioned. Plus, things like Watchmen (note, I haven't seen it), V for Vendetta, and other graphic novels have done a lot of good.

I never truly followed any comics, if I am to be honest. Still, I'm aware of a lot of different comic's tone and commentary. I personally love the combination of equality and superpowers of the X-Men comics. Still, to have what . . . two dozen variants out there? Ugh. Magneto is my favorite character, an anti-hero or tragic villain depending on how you look at him. biggrin
