Caleidah Really, it comes down to personal choice. With the Basilisk, you only have the options of Earthshaker Cannon or Heavy Bolter. That said, it has a very powerful cannon and you can begin to harass your enemy before they can even draw LOS. They also have the bonus of being less expensive.
Leman Russes excel in a few other things. For one, they pack heavier armor. The Nids will have that much harder of a time killing an Av14-12-10 Leman Russ than they would an Av12-10-10 Basilisk. Next, a Leman can tote much more firepower. Each can take up to three Heavy Bolters, or three Heavy Flamers (as memory serves), though those can only be used (in chorus) if you decide to sit still on a given turn. Nextly, it has a Battle Cannon. So, you still have the option of laying out a big, strong blast to completely wipe away those pesky enemies. The downsides of the Leman is that you have to have line of sight to hit your enemy with all of its weapons, thus making it a more viable target. Also, it has much shorter range than the Basilisk, so hunting gets harder.I'd protest on the sheer point that assault always strikes rear armor, which is 10 on both vehicles. Personally, I prefer Bassies on my lists, for a stronger shot and -significantly- fewer points. With Russes, the temptation is to throw them into the fray, which leaves them vulnerable, and you find yourself debating whether to stand still and fire all weapons or move and lose the sponsons, not to mention the cannon-versus-guns dilemma.

Hmmm... all valid points for a long term i think I'm guna hit up the baskies and pray (lol) that they can put enough fire into the swarm to make an attack a very bad idea. so I'm going baskies, maybe if this army really takes off i could throw in a Russ, but it's to early to tell. lol, my commander xp

I completely agree with DarkElf. All guard armor is immediately an enemy threat. Want to make someone worry in a 40k in 40 minutes game? Take a Basilisk and two Chimera. As he said, though, it's necessary to take several squads to make sure that the Basilisks don't take too much punishing.

BoLS Hi guys, here is what we've heard regarding the first week of IG releases in May. I'm certain there will be much more coming later in the month. IG Codex $25 IG Primaris Psyker $15 IG Ratling Snipers $20 IG Sentinel $25 IG Cadian Command Squad $25 IG Catachan Command Squad $25 IG Valkyrie $50 IG Cadian Shock Troops $22 IG Catachan Jungle Fighters $22 ~Standard caveats apply, and no guarantees on these prices. Still though, those $22 Cadian/Catachan prices would seem to mesh with the earlier rumors of those kits being repackaged into 10 man squads with a heavy weapon squad included. Do you guys see that Valkyrie on the list? Pretty cool! I expect Jwolf is already weeping tears of joy and practising his "Flight of the Valkyries" humming. Primaris Psykers return!

Caleidah Primaris Psyker? This is before my time. What exactly are they? They used to be Guard psykers of a very high level, much alike to librarians of that day. Here's hoping the Imperial Guard gets more powerful psykers again instead of the current weak hedge wizards.

I take it that the sentinel is getting re-boxed with weapon options? I've long since finished my sentinels, but I'm still curious.

Yeah, the Sentinel sprues are being re-cut with a new weapon's option and the rumor at large is that, depending on weaponry, they can fit into two slots in the Force Organization Chart. My interpretation of that is that they're going to include a Missile Pod for the Sentinels and hopefully Multimeltas as well.

My interpretation of that is that they're going to include a Missile Pod for the Sentinels and hopefully Multimeltas as well. They already can be fit into a command squad, so they really are able to work two FO spots even now. Likewise, the multi-melta would be a great sentinel weapon. howabout a drop sentinel like the elysians have, nothing like dumping nine walkers packing lotsa dakka behind your enemy. Mmm-mm good.

Then it'll be technically three Force Org slots. Probably HQ, Fast, and Heavy. FOr making them Drop Sentinels, it'll likely be either a cheap upgrade or will require your whole army to be organized as drop troops.

Guard will most likely get the support sentinel, which takes up a fast attack slot as well, but can't scout and is instead armed with either a missile launcher or rocket launcher.
I've also heard that the sentinel might be able to take a plasma cannon and multi-melta, though the latter is supposed to be Elysian only.

Worried about termies? I got a fool-proof plan.
Pack 2 demolies. even if they get one, the other will bring the heat upon them with AP2 plasma and d-cannon.
If they have 2 squads, then you're up s**t creek. Luckily, few SM players pack more than one, if any at all.

Xenos Mortium Guess what I made earlier today? =D I'm going to replace the barrel later on this week with a half inch diameter tube, that was the only thing I could find around the homestead. I got a fancy camera for Christmas, so I'm probably going to update my thread in the painting and modelling subforum at some point. ... Sorry to have to do this to you... I did one not too long ago.. Still WIP
