Inenor besides keeping him in the back of the board to contest a home objective, and his special rules. i see no further use for pedro kantor. He goes last in combat( everyone uses their power fist or power weapon on him since he's an IC), and take a scout save to AP:3 weaponry (which everone seems to do. Now to set the record straight i love the model design and i don't mind throwing him into the frey, but as stated above ... he dose not last long in a fist or gun fight cause everone hates his guts for some reason. Kantor is pretty much a support character to the army (like Azrael with his 3+inv to squad or all units gain stubborn in the older codex), with his +1 boost to attacks which can be useful when need to mob down a nasty group, stubborn rule for the army and all Sternguard Veterans counts as troops choice.
There are only 2 characters that are the mightiest close combat models in the 41st millenium besides greater deamons. No, I´m not talking about Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee, I mean Marneus Galgar and Abaddon the Despoiler. They are pretty much indentical (with minor differences in stat-lines) in terms of close combats, with the only exception that one is armed with a deamonsword+powerfist/stormbolter and the other armed with twin-powerfists/bolters(stormbolter).

To answer your question, Abaddon is armed with the Talon of Horus and the Daemon Sword Drachn'yen. That means that he strikes at I6 with 4+d6 S8 attacks that reroll wounds.
Back on topic, kthxbai.

Statswise, straight up combat, Abaddon. He attacks first and has more attacks. Sure, Calgar can re-roll hits, but he can't hit potentially 10 times in sustained combat.
I'm a Chaos fanboy, though.
On a marine note, if you've not seen it, Maraxas put up a big chart of broken down costs of special powers for building out special characters. It is quoted in the first post of this page, but can be seen on its own in the previous page. It's some incredible stuff, really.

Correction, Galgar also re-rolls all failed wounds with his "Titanic Might". It´s true that Abaddon hits more and faster then him, but Galgar has Iron Halo and the option of taking a terminator armour, which would mostlikely increase his survivalbility just alittle. Plus: BOTH have Eternal Warrior rule.
You can´t instant kill either one, no matter how much attacks you have. Stat-wise abaddon is better, but, when it comes to games themself, I doubt anyone could place a bet on who wins close-combats. Either one is as badly [PiiP], if either players have fortune in dice rolls.
Now if it would be Azrael and Abaddon, you would bet that Abaddon wins. He´s much worse then Galgar is in stats special rules, the only 2 good things in him is the sword (S is 6) and the helmet (+3inv). But once you wound him, he´s good as dead.
Cool, need to take a closer look on that one out, I have a nice looking Company Master that deserves to be a special character. smile

I played my first three games last night and went 0-3.
I borrowed a guy's army, we did a 400 point battle patrol. I had space wolves. One wolf lord and a ten man grey hunters squad, three bikes that were useless. I was armed with one power fist, one plasma pistol, one meltagun, and a sword named frostfang.
No big deal, the first guy went 7th in the country in a tourney.
He had 32 or so orks, three metal walker things with rocket launchers, and a warpmind wyrdboy.
He managed to warp right beside me, and we went into melee. I got him bown to 11 orks through shooting and charging and melee.
Though I did pretty good for my first game, I was wiped out, but I took several of them with me. If he hadn't warped perfectly, I might have lasted longer.
Second game
I was fighting Imperial Guard, the set itself was older than I am. He had god knows how many guys, but I rushed him as best I could. His autocannon killed two of my bikes, his rocket launcher got a couple of my guys, three of his plasma guns over heated, killing three of his men. His sniper team did a couple casualties. I charged into melee with one of his companies with my bike, killing one or two before it got destroyed.
I charged with my powerfist, lord, and plasma pistol guy. We took out an entire company before charging his leader's unit. We got three of his five, but we got surrounded by his one of his unhurt companies before he finally meleed my guys out of the game.
Third game
Young kid, maybe 14 or 15.
This one was probably the fairest of them all. My unit versus twelve Orks in a looted wagon and an Ork Truck, both were unpainted, but I let him say they were red.
He shot two of my bikes with the truck, but my other bike went down valiantly, being hit with a wrecking ball considered a power weapon.
The looted wagon hit my men with it's shoota, I took a couple casualties, getting a glancing shot off on it with my melta gun.
He followed my advice and deployed his Orks, charging into melee. I killed one or two of his Orks, his Wyrdboy and powerfist were my biggest threats. We went a few rounds of melee before he finished me off.
Conclusion The first game was funnest, but all in all I learned quite a bit. Since I was playing with a borrowed army, I didn't know their strengths or weaknesses. But I learned what they were good at pretty fast.
I lacked anti armor weapons, which hurt me in the first and last battle, and I lacked radius weapons which hurt me in the second game, and couldn't move fast enough to engage them in time before sustaining steep casualties and being pretty much screwed by the time I did reach them.
All in all, it was a fun game that I look forward to playing again, with my own army of Space Marines!

ANGRY MARINES! ALWAYS ANGRY! ALL THE TIME! ... I am aware that his chapter badge is on the wrong shoulderplate, but it'll be fixed sooner or later. :'DDD Edit: Just a side-note for your ork opponent, an ork vehicle does not need to be "red", it can be blue, yellow, or just have "Supa' charged enginz" to count as red. ;D

Inquisitor Brock Well from what i've heard, it's supposed to actually be red. No, it does not have to be red, it's just called red paintjob, and it can be represented by enginz and other stuff that could make it faster. Ianator: It's the "finished" result, it looks more angry when dull-yellow rather than SCREAMING cartoonish-yellow. ;D I used other yellows first, but ended up painting him with foundations afterwards, looks more "natural" so to say.

I'm looking forward to assembling an army. But i want them to look good, so I'll have to do some practice on my older models.
