In fact, that was the origin of the line. "If everybody's super, then nobody will be." I find it amazing just how many people don't understand that line. It makes such sense to me, but most that I meet are confused by it.

*hugs* We just will have to admire one another.
Pokemon never really grabbed me . . . I've tried several times over the years. Just never got the allure.

I think it was Skreemer who said it best, though I'll leave out the crudness: "Pokemon is a lot like _______; some people like it, and some don't."
I like a broad range of RPGs, whether Western or Japanese, and I mostly play Pokemon for the nostalgia. I only got back into playing Pokemon with the 2nd gen (gold/silver) remakes a few years back.
So, how did you like the back story 2-parter in Korra?

I have not seen the second half yet . . . but the first half with the introduction of Won/Wan was truly interesting. I am not interested in Korra . . . but this guy- I like. Show me the beginnings. Show me how Bending began. The inclusion of the LionTurtle was nice, as was the concept of nobody truly knowing how to wield fire. Sure, they had it, and yes they could shoot it. It was only when Won/Wan trained with a dragon with the spirits that he began to bend. It shocked the hell out of those hunters, and that was a very nice touch. The difference between swinging a sword and wielding it, as it were.
I would watch the tale of Wan with far more fervor than Legend of Korra.

Oh, on Nick's website they released both episodes of Wan last Friday. But yes, it was very good. If nothing else, the brighter art style (especially the way they animated the elements) is a very nice change from Korra, which has become much darker even from last season to this one,

You see, I like dark. I don't like Korra. There was no journey, no growth. Instead, we got a bull-headed girl shown at about 5, then a bullheaded girl at late teens. Now we have a bullheaded girl that is aggressively lost and just does things without thinking with no sign of stopping.
Then suddenly we got Wan, and there was a logical reason for his actions, there was growth, there was advancement of character. We saw more interesting things in a half hour than in a whole season of Korra. stare

I was only referring to dark in the animation itself, as in color palette.
Yes, I agree with what you're saying. I'm glad that the writers still have talent (aka: the original Avatar wasn't a fluke or their only good idea), so here's hoping Korra learns and grows from her visions (even if it is sudden).

Amnesia is the ultimate cheap shot in writing . . . but even a cheap shot is effective when used right. To have Korra lose all her memory and arrogance would be a lovely turn. Of course, it could also make her relearn all her bending at an accelerated pace. That would correct much of what happened to make this series poor.

I fully recognize it's generally not the best option, but they've written themselves into such a corner that it is the most believable course for change. I'm holding out hope, anyway...
Yeah, knowing 3 types of bending from childhood had a lot to do with the formulation of her ego.

Agreed. With Korra kicking bending's butt from such an early age, she was bound to be egotistical. Now she has lost her connection to her avatar spirit and her memories, so it is possible that she will have to relearn it all. That would indeed be a good solution. Sometimes, the only way to win is to clear the board. ninja
