Well that was a good way to put it. He nodded and smiled. "Yeah."
Lori let Luca kiss him on the cheek then stole a gentle kiss on the lips. "I am. Very much." It didn't mean much to him spiritually. His upbringing was far from Christian, but the holiday still symbolized family and charity and love. It was a good one for sure. "I'm not going to put your present under the tree if that's okay."

"Your present won't be under the tree, either," Luca admitted. He hadn't known what to get Lori;.giving him the scrapbook early had been the right thing though. "I'm excited too. I've never spent holidays with people I care so much about."

The small group arrived well before the parade started with tall mugs full of coffee or cocoa to fend off the cold. Dari had simply popped in his projector, feeling rather lazy when it came to concealing himself. Winter wear was good for covering up anyway. They had good seats, that was the important parts, although Toby assumed they'd mostly be standing.
Finally there came the 'woop-woop' of sirens and the festire fire trucks began the parade, decked out in tinsel and lights. Toby chuckled and wrapped an arm around Maia. Her first parade!

Maia smiled and leaned into Toby, watching the parade. The trucks were beautiful! So loud, though. She sipped at her cocoa and watched. "I like the lights. Do they do this every year?"

Toby was mid-sip with his coffee but wrapped his free arm around Maia's waist. He swallowed and nodded. "Mm-hm. Tradition."
"We don't always come, though," Dari added. In fact it had been a while since they'd decided to take part. Once you'd seen one parade you'd pretty much seen them all, but this one was special because it was Maia's first. Living on a beach didn't allow for much in the way of town tradition.
Next came flag bearers, then the floats, some of which tossed candy into the crowd, and groups walking in festive attire, and even a few dance groups.

Were all parades the same then, if Toby didn't feel a need to go to them every year? She smiled at Dari, and then her eyes landed on the floats passing by. The twinkling lights, the designs... And Toby was there with her. "Which one is your favorite, Toby?" she asked.

Toby watched a few go by and then pointed.
"That one," he said. It had its own Christmas tree and lighted reindeer. It was like a holiday fantasy land. Dari nodded in agreement. It was very pretty.
"How about you?" Toby asked Maia.

Maia admired the float Toby pointed out. "Its beautiful," she said, and pointed out a float depicting a world made of candy. There were candy cane street signs and a house made of gingerbread. "That one! Though... It sort of hurts my teeth to look at." She sipped at her cocoa. "Do you think Seamus will like his Christmas presents?"

"I think so," Toby said with a nod, "The spoiled brat seems to appreciate everything you give him. What if he likes the boxes better than the presents, though? Isn't that a cat thing?"

Maia paused. "...Do you think he would? I hope not. But maybe I should've gotten him a box?" She kissed Toby's cheek. "I bought you a box, too."

"He might be too smart for boxes," Toby admitted. He smiled at the cheek kiss and turned down to Maia. "Oh, did you? I got you one too." But Maia's was bound to shift and thump as it was brought out.

"He is pretty smart," Maia agreed with a smile. "I think you'll like what's inside the box better." She turned her eyes back to the parade. "Dari's got a box too."

"Oh?" Toby asked. Dari turned to Maia and smiled. He had one too? He hadn't expected any gifts save maybe from Toby.
Toby watched the parade with more joy than in past years, clapping and cheering at times, singing along and making Maia dance at the waist or arms with him even though she didn't know the songs.

It was some time later when Lori approached Luca for a project he had been planning for a short while now. Going directly after the Unseelie that had tried to destroy them would be exact what the b*****d wanted. No, they had to take another approach.
"Babe?" he asked as he approached Luca and pulled out his phone, "Would you take a photo with me?"

Luca smiled at Lori as he approached. "Of course," he agreed, and kissed Lori on the cheek. He was surprised by the question. Their first vacation together, pictures were to be expected.
