"Do I dare ask?" Earendil laughed. "Well, tag can be a dangerous game. But stalking? Mind telling me how you play that?"

Sounded interesting, anyways.

"Oh it's easy....." Lin spoke up, "It's kind of like a hide and seek, though the person seeking is the one hiding, you have to stalk the person and catch them, but if they catch you doing it then it doesn't count."

She nodded like she knew what she was talking about. though she was normally the one doing the stalking and without telling people.

"Ah," Earendil nodded. Exactly what it sounded like then. "And who does the stalking and who does the hiding?"

He was genuinely interested now, and found himself even looking forward to playing with the girl.

"Normally I do the stalking," Lin replied back, "It's good practice."

Practice for one, most people wasn't sure of.

"Well, we could play if you want to," Earendil grinned. "I don't suppose you would like to play in the labyrinth, then?"

He would have an advantage over her then, but if she was serious about practicing her stalking, then it was better that way. After all, if she was going to grow up and follow in her father's footsteps - as it seemed to him that she would - then she would be constantly in situations like that.

And after all it was just practice - he wouldn't let her get lost.

"Oh! That would be interesting," Lin mused, "Is there a quick way back there?" she inquired to him.

She wondered what it would be like to track anyone through that maze.

"Same way we came up," Earendil grinned. "Fastest way. There are longer ways, of course, many of them - but you were right, this place is huge. There are those who say that it's as big as the mountain it's built on - it's only a slight exaggeration. Of course, to see it from the outside, you'd never guess, but most of it's underground."

Hmm. Perhaps he would have to take her outside and show her.

"We're on a mountain?"

Lin mused thinking for a moment, she always thought being high on mountain it would be cool.

Her comment made the youth pause.

"I really should show you," he mused. "It's rather ... amazing, really. Yes, we're on a mountain, the entire city is. But the castle - where we are - is on the top of the mountain."

He glanced down at her curiously. "How old are you, anyways?" he asked. Perhaps she had never seen a mountain before - and quite likely, not a castle either.

"Uhmm....." Lin counted on her fingers and held up three, "I'm this old."

Granted she meant three weeks and not three years, but she didn't know yet herself the idea that children like her were not actually that common. Though in her family it was common enough.

Earendil blinked. "You're kidding," he murmured. "Three ... well, you're certainly small enough ... I think."

He gazed down at her as he led them into the tower and down the stairs. She actually looked shorter than three years ... but then again, he recalled, the angel Kara had been so short, too. Perhaps it was simply genetics, after all.

"Why would I kid?" Lin asked curious.

She blinked at that as she tilted her head letting Nina follow Earendil.

"I don't know," Earendil shrugged. "All I know is that you look smaller than a three-year-old, but that you're far more mature, and I find it confusing. That's all."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:05 pm

"But all the other kids in my family like me are the same size as me...." she paused to think about it and nod, "Yea, even big brothers Yue and Yukito are like that."

She didn't understand quite yet she looked an awful lot like her two parents quite yet.

Earendil blinked. "But they're as tall as I am - or thereabouts. Do you mean to tell me they started out as small as you? As mature?"

He blinked again, and a suspicious look crossed his face. "I'm going to make a wild guess and say ... that's what your world is like ... is that right?"
