(OOC: I don't know for sure... but I've always assumed you'd use a slugthrower on the Governor Cale...)

Inside the Auditorium the Compforce team finished their work, assembling the stage and podium from which the Governor would speak, inside was a small ray shield generator, a piece of equipment that his security team had insisted on. Scattered around were members of the Compforce observor corps, who wore their yellow accented uniforms as they worked. Compforce Captain Jorn Adlevulf watched the finishing touches come into place. Behind him were the three holographic cameras and their civilian operators along with thousands of empty seats.

Governor Sirus stepped forward flanked by his two bodyguards, both wore a red cowled robe that hid personal body-armor, two DL-44s, and the E-11s slung across their back. Both women starred blanking at the surroundings, clearly evaluating the setup.

Captain Adlevulf paid them no mind as he clasped the governor's hand, "Governor... as you can see, everything is ready. The troops Comforce delegation will stand to your right and the military command staff will be seated on your left. Those receiving awards will line up on either side of the podium facing inward."

"Good," The Governor answered gruffly, "I suppose your delegation would include the entire Compforce contingent?"

"Yes." The Captain answered with a slight smile, "All twenty-nine of us."

* * *

As the Chariot drove to the amphitheater Colonel Akaga skimmed his notes, "I think we'll go with the Navy contingent first. Hildegard needs to learn that I'm not impressed with his units performance..." Frowning he leaned back in the chair, two bronze starclusters to award, a blood award, two assault badges, and a promotion in that one unit.

Beside him Lieutenant Kimber relayed the agenda, "The Governor will be reading through the citations... once the citations have been read and the awards distributed he'll give his own main speech. You'll be giving the opening speech and will introduce the Governor."

Colonel Akaga shook his head, "So be it." He'd prepared for that.

((I am. But seriously, what the hell is with all this security? Ive seen medal ceremonies before and this seems a little extreme. There hasnt been any sign of hostilities in town for weeks.))

Kara and her men sat quietly in the vehicle, waiting until they arrived. The squad exchanged glances once or twice but nothing was said. They all were just waiting for this to get over with so they could ditch the uniforms and get back to work.

Arriving at the ampitheater, Hildegard stepped out of the LAV along with the men from his company receiving awards. He wore a smug, entirely assuming smile, and smiled at everything that moved.

Walking out, he passed by some loitering civilians. One caught his eye; a slim, pretty young woman not completely clothed. He made a mental note to speak to her later in private.

He's here. Charr thought
He lay flat against the balcony floor, listening intently to the buisness going on down below with Lenler nearby. He motioned for silence to Lenler and continued to eaves drop on the event.

Colonel Akaga stepped out of the Chariot and glanced up at the Captain Hildegard eying one of the locals. He shook his head, Hildegard was clearly not the officer he'd hoped for in command of the Recon Company. He needed someone with unbridled aggression in his very presence, someone like Aryss, but more respectful to command.

Finding such a person would be all but impossible. Let alone removing Hildegard, rumors of friends in high places danced before the Colonel's mind as he stepped inside the theater's doors and headed toward the stage. Already his mind reciting the speech he'd soon be giving to an audience across the local holonet.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Ford had found little business to do at the base. Bored, he decided to go on a round of patrol.

However, no sooner was he out, then a problem was spotted.

Standing in front of him, and clearly in breach of the perimeter, were three civilians armed with slug throwers. They motioned at him. "Hands up."

Looking around, he complied. With them were at least a dozen more men, all drunk by the look of them, watching over the two security guards that lay unconscious.

Inwardly, he was glad he had his DL-44 hidden inside his pants. All he needed was a clean moment.

Flanked by the two mock-soldiers, it was obvious these men were drunk. They were far too inefficient and undertrained to do anything but swagger around and hiccup.

The next moment changed everything. One of his own guards came out of the barracks, rifle in hand. He immediately rang off the alarm, drawing the attention of the guards. Given the oppurtunity, Ford pulled out his pistol and level two shots on his captors, and then vaporized the heads of three others. The rest immediately surrendered.

Smiling, Benton walked over to the man and offered a hand. "My thanks. Remind me to give you the night off work."

Turning, he walked over to the drunkards. "How'd you get in the base?"

One of the hiccuped. "Some....eh.... fellow paid us to come... wanted some weapons to sell to the militia."

Ford shook his head. Smugglers, thieves, and potentially terrorists. "Take these men to the holding chambers. And call Command. Inform them we have detained suspects possibly linked in a militia coup."

(edited. Take it away Cale.)

The tech-room door was suddenly kicked in as a burly man armed with a wicked hunter stormed into the room, flanked by two others, one holding a cracker and the other holding something that looked more deadly and was in a long-coat and had dark hair and tanned skin. That man stepped forward with his pistol barrel positioned toward the head techie as two other armed men entered the room and started detaining techies. The Burly Man watched the hall as the other who had flanked him with Mr. Long Coat took at seat at the control panel.

Rate pressed his pistol into the side of the head-techie who was a young man. "Carry on as scheduled, and no heroics." He said with a spacer accent. Two other men entered and took the seats of to of the detained techies who were tied with tape over their mouths. The Burly man closed the door and stood with his back against it. The other took over watching the security cameras. The controls for the entire builds in one room? This was too easy.

Getting into the place had been a cake walk, no guards were stationed throughout the service halls and those who worked at the place had been easily passed. Rate pulled a comm device from his jacket and set into the private channel, the device was Imperial."We have taken full control Sir, I'm patching you into the intercom system now." he said as he peered out of the tinted glass into the auditorium at the Imperials.

Charr glanced at his chronometer.
That was quick. Too quick. The Imps hadn't even started with the festivities yet.
As quietly as he could manage, he shut his headset off for the moment, hoping no one would notice.
It wanst time yet for him to give away his position.

"Miss," Corporal Lund asked her as the group emerged from the vehicle. "There a reason why theres Civies around here?"
"They're probably just curious as to what's going on." Colsan told him.
"That why the Captain's getting all chummy with 'em?" Lund asked.
"That man IS Chum. A big heaping bucket of it." Kara stated blandly. "Focus, Gents. We've a reason to be here. Unlike the Captain."
She led the group inside the theatre and noted the presence of the CompFarce.
"I see the gang's all here. Beautiful." She muttered.
"Miss?"
"What, Colsan?"
The Vet glanced around the room, not entirely at ease.
"Miss, you ever get the feeling that something's not quite right?"
Kara frowned and looked around the room.
"Not here I dont. Something wrong?"
"Not that I can place my finger on..."
"Its probably something you ate. Now look sharp. The thing's about to start."

Colonel Akaga glanced at the chrono on his wrist, "Alright... showtime is in two minutes. Captain Hildegard! Get your troops in here and formed up!"

Twenty some imperial army personnel, almost exclusively corporals and privates formed into two lines that starred inward. On one end, near the stage the four members of the Naval Special Missions team formed up alongside their army comrades, and the three black dressed ncos stood out amongst the formation, their leader however attracted some attention from the other troopers. It was always rare to see a woman in imperial dress.

A stage hand stepped beside the holoprojector and held up his hand, slowly counting down from five as the last few seconds before Colonel Akaga's speech wound by.

"Imperial Citizens of Seya-Qu II. I am Colonel Saburo Akaga of Woostri, Commander of Imperial Forces on your world. Today, it is my honor and privilege to share with you a ceremony honoring those who have fought to for order and stability in the Galaxy. These men and women have struggled to bring you the full protection and peace that the New Order represents. They also call upon those of you considering to fight against what you see as an act of unbridled aggression to lay down your arms. Give peace a chance, and in time reap the rewards of being a member of the Galactic community and new order."

"Each of the men here have sacrificed for your future peace and security, but there are two here whose bravery and skill require special recognition. It is not often that an officer is given the chance to award the Imperial Bronze Starcluster, and tonight there are two here that will receive this prestigious award. Additionally there is also one here who has demonstrated skill, cunning, and mettle under fire as an officer in that same battle. Her actions helped to turn away an assaulting force that threatened to bring anarchy to Port Loka, and for this she will be promoted."

"I will now give the podium to Governor Sirus who shall read out the names of those that are recieving awards." As Colonel Akaga stepped aside he walked past the seat that had been assigned to him for the ceremony. Instead he tapped Lieutenant Bek Kimber and stepped down onto the lower platform followed by the supply officer, who carried the awards in a small case.

Colonel Akaga stopped before Lieutenant Junior Grade Kara Aryss as the Governor's horse voice began to bellow across the stage, "For exemplary performance under fire, Lieutenant Junior Grade Kara Aryss will immediately be promoted to the rank of full Lieutenant in the Imperial Navy."

Give peace a chance? If you wanted peace, you shouldnt have picked a fight.
Slowly, precisely, the Rodian hunter sat up and took a knee, counting on the darkness to conceal his movements as he calmly locked his scope on the Govenor.

Kara ignored the attention she got and Smartly saluted as the Colonel stood infront of her.
Finally. Promoted to Lieutenant.
Still a crap rank but at least I'm getting somewere.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 09, 2007 7:32 pm

The Colonel returned the salute as Lieutenant Kimber pulled out the new insignia and code cylinders. The Colonel stepped forward as he pulled the old rank placard from her uniform and took one of the code cylinders. Then he pinned the new four tab rank insignia in place and slipped a code cylinder into it's assigned pocket, "Good luck, Lieutenant."

The Governor's voice continued on...

"For bravery in the face of the enemy Flight Sergeant Colsan is awarded the Imperial Bronze Starcluster."

The medal clinked slightly as Lieutenant Kimber pulled it from it's case, and the Flight Sergeant saluted. Colonel Akaga returned his salute before pinning the medal to his chest, just below the empty space that would have held a rank for an officer.

..."For bravery in the face of the enemy and wounds suffered in combat Technical Corporal Nascimento is awarded the Imperial Bronze Starcluster and Blood Medal."

Pinning the medals to the Techie Corporal Akaga wondered what the people of Seya-Qu were making of this. Were they bored, or fascinated? Or were they disgusted by the display?

The names rolled onward as the men from the Recon formation received their awards before stopping.

Governor Sirus leaned forward, "As Agents of the Emperor it is your duty to enforce the laws and decrees of the new order..." Colonel Akaga felt the eyes of the governor settle upon him, "Without question or delay..."
