By the time the office was shutting down he was well on his way to being bored out of his mind. He should have asked if he could go home early but that would have required getting up and getting up was too much work.
His watched beeped quietly at him, which was a good thing since he'd fallen asleep on his desk again, around five. Sitting up and stretching he yawned and looked over at Kaleb.

Kaleb hadn't moved much while Riley snoozed, although the ice was back on his ankle and he had read through a significant number of pages. He didn't even notice the watch beeping or his partner stirring, he was too absorbed in his work to pay any attention to anything aside from his book.

His back cracked as he stretched and he sighed happily as he got up. "Ready ta go home?" He rubbed his muzzle as he spoke to try to wake himself up faster.

Kaleb's head snapped up when he heard Riley speak, and only just barely caught the question. "H-home?" he asked, wondering if his partner was going to take him back to his apartment, or if he would be spending the night with Riley again.

"Well unless you want to spend the night in the office." He snickered and laughed. "Yea, well maybe not home but back ta my place. Don't trust ya not ta try ta get up if yer left alone"

Kaleb smiled brightly and closed his book. "Th-thank you for putting up with me for another night... I-I really like staying with you." He blushed a bit as he added the last bit, then pushed his book off his lap so he could sit up properly and swing his legs over the side of the couch. Attempting to put his shoe back on made him wince, and in the end he just gave up and frowned at it.

"Just leave the shoe off ... and like, portal to the couch at my place er somethin." He managed to get himself awake enough that he could think. "Easier than carryin ya down ta the car"

Kaleb nodded, and carefully got to his feet. Well, technically only one of his feet. "I should put the icepack back in the lounge freezer first." He was glad Riley wasn't going to try carrying him again, that would have been embarrassing.

"I'll go put it back for ya" He held out his hand for it. "That way ya don'have ta walk." And hopefully Kaleb would be situated on his couch before he got himself home.

Kaleb gave him the icepack, there wouldn't be much point to refusing the request. "Thanks," he said with a smile, and then conjured a glowing portal nearby that would be easy enough to limp through. "I-I'll see you in a few then," he said before leaving the office.

He went to go put the ice pack away before he headed for his car. It didn't take him long to get home and once inside his place he tossed his keys and jacket on the table. "Get yerself comfortable?"

Kaleb poked his head up from his book when he heard the door unlock. "I-I did, thanks," he said with a smile. He had been able to get to the couch fine, and reach back through the portal to grab his book once he realized he had brought nothing to do. After a hobbled trip to put his shoes next to the door, he had settled happily on Riley's comfortable couch and gone back to his reading.
His smile fell a bit as he remembered something, and he nervously ran his fingers along one edge of the book's cover. "I-I'm sorry I forgot to ask if there was anything you wanted for dinner, I-I could have gotten something started..."

He walked over and looked over the back of the couch. "Told ya to get off yer foot. Makin dinner would'ave not been stayin off it." He raised a brow and chuckled slightly.
"I can cook for myself ya know"

Kaleb fidgeted slightly, but he didn't look quite so disappointed in himself. "I-I know, I-I'd just feel better about staying with you for so long if I could be of some use..." And Riley had said the meal tasted better when it was cooked for him, and the little mage just loved being able to please his partner.

"Ya make a nice heated pillow." He snickered as he headed for the kitchen. "I think i have some pasta left over .... and a few meatballs."
