The fox's eyes narrowed considerably, as if Hiei had struck a very sensitive nerve. "How did it feel? Like I had a sadistic crow molesting my neck, holding my life in his hands, his explosives able to kill me instantly." His answer was very open and honest, almost to the point of being uncharacteristic, and the word crow had been used in a euphemistic way. Still, the subject of that vampire wanna-be was not one he wanted brought up.

Though he had been tempted, the red-head did not bring up Hiei's heritage. That was not something to be played around with, and he was not that cruel.

"Any more questions?"

Hiei was silent for a moment. Then he shifted, closied his eyes and said a simple, "Hn."

He honestly had hoped Kurama would shut up after that. The answer he got wasn't one he had expected. But he couldn't help but respect Kurama for doing so the way he did. Had Hiei been asked something like that, he would've left or maybe stuck his katana in the other's skull. But as for questions...

"Did he really scare you that much?"

Innocent enough.

Kurama's eyes softened, him gradually relaxing, but still tense, considering the subject matter. "I don't think scare is a fitting word... I did not understand him, his reasonings for doing what he did, what drove him to be how he was. To the moment I killed Karasu, and after, I did not 'get' him... and that was maddening."

The thought dawned on him just how much he had revealed to the Koorime, but somehow it didn't matter much, as if it weren't a bad thing to be sharing so much of himself to Hiei. A special gift that no other had, and it was not appreciated. Perhaps it was better that way.

Hiei nodded shortly. He would say nothing more about this, as he saw Kurama's physical reactions to talking about Karasu. But Hiei couldn't blame him. Not in the least bit.

The downside the Jaganshi's understanding was that it closed him off a bit from any more conversation. After all, everone knew that when Hiei did talk , he usually didn't say so much in such a short time.

After a while of silence, the kitsune placed a hand on the tree they rested in, pouring a small amount of his energy into it, as well as other surrounding plants. This particular use of his power would alert the two of anyone who came within a certain distance of them, and detour them briefly.

The sun was already mostly down, and an outline of the full moon was visible behind the partly overcast sky. Aside from anything to do with the werewolf, this meant the two would need to get sleep soon.

Hiei's eyes flashed when he felt the energy Kurama had allowed into the tree. On the ball, as usual. Shifting and bending a leg, the Koorime let his gaze move upwards toward the sky. Though he loved to watch the azure flush to pinks and oranges from the comfort of a tree, something about it always made him feel... well, to put it Yusuke's terms, shitty.

Blinking a few clinging thoughts away, he turned to Kurama. He doubted that now was a good time to try returning to the mansion. If any time were a good time, that was.

"Maybe we can try the psychic tomorrow," he said simply, voicing his thoughts.

So Hiei had actually been serious about returning to the demoness' mansion? Unexpected, but necessary, unless they wanted to live on squirrel meat. And without a shower, or a nice, soft bed--two things more important than food, in the fox's book.

"We should... but do let me do the talking, this time. I doubt she will be as forgiving a second time, assuming that she won't attack us immediately." The comment itself was true enough, but his tone gave it a very slight humorous twang, just enough to keep from getting too serious. Been there, done that.

"Tch," Hiei spat, somewhat sarcastically at what the fox had said. Even if she weren't forgiving, would she really attack? He could see that, but of course it ended with some kind of plan to avoid being hurt and overpower her. He laughed to himself. Lately his imagination had been fluttering. But if they wanted to be in a good state of mind tomorrow, it would be smart to get some sleep.

"Go to sleep, Kurama," Hiei said, as if talking to a child. But it turned playful. "Your little ningen body is probably screaming for some rest."

"You're one to talk about little bodies, Hiei." The fox grinned, quickly looking him up and down for emphasis. It wasn't exactly a sweet thing to say, but the comment had meant no harm, obviously.

"But sleep does sound very nice." His eyes felt tired all the sudden, as if he hadn't really thought of the concept until then. Though this particular sleep was sure to be uncomfortable, since trees weren't soft. At all.

Hiei merely rolled his eyes and turned a bit, resting his arm over his lap. He was a little tired, too, but he wouldn't allow anything more than a light dozing off for tonight. Looking up once more, he regarded the moon and the veiling colors of the night sky. He preferred night much, much more.

Hiei said nothing more, not really one for a polite 'good night,' anyway. Reaching up with his other hand, he removed the white cloth from his head and twitched as violet sparks emitted from the closed Jagan to his meticulous fingertips. Then the Eye opened, slowly, as if it were as tired as Kurama. Hiei's own red eyes slid shut and his mind slipped with the Jagan to wander where it may.

Night blinked... Kasai should be resting...

Wait...

"He is not my boyfriend!!!" Night was livid. That evil albino hottie was going to be the death of her, as well as Kasai, and maybe even Carlos...

She followed her good friend, mumbling angrily as she stepped into the dark room yet again.

Kasai glared half-heartedly. "He is, now. Deal with it."

Her powers ran away with her for a second, allowing her to hear Night's thoughts momentarily, but she stayed silent purely for the politeness value. Just how would that 'albino hottie' be the death of them, anyway? It made no sense. Night made no sense.

Hm, did anything make sense...?

Night sighed as she closed the door behind them, leaving them in darkness. Jacque was gonna tease her again... How ever did she get stupid enough to let him know she liked him, anyways?

"So, Kasai," Jacque started. "I noticed the scent of a wound. It smells delectible. May I have a bit of a taste?" A dark chuckle followed his request.

"Maybe another time, vampire," she said, actually somewhat serious. How bad could being undead be, anyway?

Well, probably pretty bad... the demoness prefered blood when she saw fit, rather than it being a necessity.

"Now get to the point." No room was left for arguement, and if any were to be offered, she had plenty of garlic that was easily accessible... as well as stakes, blessed silver, etc. If she had to deal with Jacque, it was best to be properly prepared.

Jacque sighed. "Such a temper. All right then. There are two demons in my forest, and I don't want them there. Carlos" He growled the name, "is under your jurisdiction, and keeps out of my territory. But the other two... I need to know if they are yours."

"You can't own a person, Albino" Night interjected.

"And yet you will do whatever Kasai tells you, Runt." Jacque countered. "They killed one of my food sources, and an innocent creature, in my territory, and I want them dead."

"You will not kill them, vampire. I brought them here of my own will, and I will see to it that they leave alive." Kasai's tone was more than authoritive, and her eyes made it very clear that unpleasant things would happen if Jacque were to disobey.

Now sounding nicer, she added: "If your creature is so important, tell me which kind it is, and I will make my sla-- erm... Night fetch more of them. An alternative to that is a cloning process... but that would be difficult, and you would owe me."

"The type is unimportant," Jacque stated smoothly. "It is the fact that my prey was killed by another that has me, shall we say, upset."

"You don't have emotions, you undead egotist."

"Hush, child." Jacque countered. "Grown-ups are talking." Night seethed. He was always a step ahead... "I wish to have them out of my territory. If I may, I would like to get them out. With your leave, of course, Kasai."

No longer was any trace of green seen, as his eyes lidded, and the kitsune drifted into sleep almost instantly. Knowing that Hiei was there, probably half awake, gave him the comfort he needed to let down his guard.

As the night went on, the fox began to shiver slightly, his human form lacking the necessary tolerance.

When Hiei was finally able to doze off, his sleep lasted a good many hours before the Jagan began dilate and deepen in color. His body was taking affect as well, contracting into itself slowly and shakily, while eyes were held shut tightly and teeth gritted. A combination of his mind's eye and the Jagan's own visuals clashed.

A flash of teal, ice—scarlet orbs, blinking— a cry, screaming—

Eyes snapped open, and the screaming didn't stop. He leapt from the tree, bewildered, and when he landed on the ground, he had to flash to the side to avoid sliced branches. On his hands and knees, with the katana stuck in the grass, he finally came to his senses and felt his throat crack. It had been him screaming.

Shocked and shaking, the Jaganshi could only stare into the ground and pant.

Kasai thought his words through carefully. "You may remove them from your territory, but not harm them. Give them until dawn, Dracula, if you want to keep me pleased."

The reason for Kurama and Hiei getting until morning was to allow them sleep, though from the looks of things, as the psychic produced one of her orbs, the Koorime wasn't getting much. Quite a nightmare, it seemed... and where was fox-boy to kiss Hiei and make him all better?

Emerald green eyes opens swiftly, and Kurama's fiery red hair flew behind him as he leapted from the thick branch of his perch.

The Koorime had screamed-- a scream of complete horror at that... something frighteningly uncharacteristic that at first, the fox had passed it off as part of a dream. But not even his dreams were that crazy-- even his Youko-influenced dreams were crazy in other ways.

When the fox did land, after what seemed much longer than a few short seconds, he knelt cautiously beside the other, crimson rose in hand by now. Seeing no immediate danger, he slowly put the floral weapon away. Something must have happened, but-- what? No demon could strike fear into the fire apparition's heart, as far as his vast experience told him.

No thought even near what actually happened crossed his racing mind, so naturally he was curious. How to ask him about it, though, without making it worse and possibly offending him?

"Hiei, I heard a scream and... it sounded like you." His eyes were downcast, not allowing him to really see Hiei's face, so only the faint panting could be heard.. "Is something wrong? Something I may be able to assist you with, I mean?"

Kurama then gave a meaningful look.

"Because I would like nothing more than to make you feel better."
