Takiko-chan In the manga, they say that Suzuno and Tatara died at the same time, and I think I recall something like "they died together" or "they were reunited after all". I can't really remember since it has been a long time since I last reread FY. Still, I can assure that it was from the manga, since I didn't watch that part of the anime.
...atleast that's how viz worded it.

Nakago_Chan I just went though my manga (which I convienently keep at my desk whee ) Tatara dies in vol. 11 and when Miaka goes back to her world in vol. 12 Keisuke tells Miaka that when he went to visit Suzuno the book opened up to where Tatara was dying and they both died at the same time and says "It's amazing it's like they died together"
...atleast that's how viz worded it.
Gwaah, now I want to watch that scene, but my FY tapes are in San Antonio! ;o;

I remember reading how Watase wished she mentioned more of what went on with Genbu no miko and Byakko no miko in the manga... and I think she even said she wished she didn't do the story for them as she did so she may end up changing a few things (so there may be some continuity errors) I lent my GK vol.1 to a friend a few weeks ago and haven't gotten it back yet so I can't remember if it was in the freek talk section of that that I saw it, or if it was somewhere else U_U

In the manga and in the anime they claim that the Genbu Shinzahou was not acquired by Takiko until she became one with Genbu. Well, in FYGK, Takiko gets the Shinzahou from Anruu-sama in order to find the other Genbu Seishi, so already that's a bit of a difference. Also, in regards to the Tatara/Suzuno episode, I spent the summer re-watching FY in the background while I worked on my Takiko cosplay so I remember it clearly ^^ Nakago-chan is right when she said in the anime that when Tatara dies his soul shows up at Suzuno's home where she is dying. When she dies her soul goes to him and they fade away in each others' arms. Its all very sweet, but I do recall that definitely not being in the manga. Consistency is hard over a long period of time, so I can forgive Watase-sensei for wanting to change some things now. When she was doing the SuSei arc she never thought she'd ever write Genbu or Byakko, so its understandable that she'd want to arrange things a bit differently if she can.

I don't mind Yuu Watase having continuity errors too if it benifit's Genbu kaiden's story. I just lurv it.

Asking for and distributing scanlations of a licensed manga goes against Gaia's TOS, so I recommend Google searching or something.

I've been re-reading my old FY manga's and it's interesting... I got to the part where the group went to Hokkan to get the Genbu Shinzaho and they were in that first village asking questions and the villagers couldin't confirm if Genbu no miko went back to her own world or not. They were all "I suppose so" but it was all rummors passed down for the past 200 years. Give me hope that she was reborn in the book and we'll have a happy ending for GK

Basically it's the rules you have to follow if you want to continue being a member of Gaia (not get banned) 3nodding
Posting illegal things (like scanlations of licenced manga) if reported to the proper authorities, could cause the admins of Gaia to be liable and have to pay a fine or worse, be forced to shut Gaia down.

I've been re-reading my Fushigi Yuugi SS graphic novels and I've been thinking a lot about the Byakko no Miko story and what might have happened...
Here's a theory I have.
When Tatara was dying he says "I shall now return to the heavens"
That made me think... why did he say "return" instead of something like "I shall now go to the heavens" This made me think... what if he'd had died already once? Subaru used her powers to make him stay young so that he could protect the shinzaho... but why was it that if he left the Byakko shrine, he'd start to age rapidly? When we see Subaru use her powers on herself and Tokokai, they didin't seem to endure the same effect.
This makes me think that mabey, she used her powers on a dead Tatara to bring him back to life. but if he did die, and Suzuno made a wish that she and he would be somehow reunited, who's to say he wasin't reincarnated in her world, THEN Subaru brought him back to life inside the book with her powers. This could explain why Tatara had to stay in the shrine since technically, he had only perhaps half his soul, so he needed whatever power he could get from Byakko to keep him going. It would also explain why if he was reborn in Suzuno's world why she'd live longer than him (since going by the anime, she lived longer than whoever it was she married). With a Tatara still in the book, Subaru and Tokokai would have to assume Tatara never was able to stay with Suzuno. Same with Tatara in the book
