AshWufei bambulus James Tanner bambulus AshWufei Man now I'm drooling all over Ibanez guitars. I really need to get some funds up for a new guitar.. my tastes just keep jumping around so much that its hard to pinpoint exactly what i want - it keeps changing every second. You can't resist it, Ash. You're going to join us Ibanez lovers sooner or later.
twisted
Has anyone else seen the new epi LP Custom? Either of them, in fact. The Chromed Custom and the EMG Custom.
Some very nice guitars.Yeah I saw them. Look pretty cool. Not much of an EMG person, except for EMG SAs razz I myself would rather try out some less known pickups. Such as Bare Knuckle's and Rio's instead of going with the flow and getting what everyone else has.I'm a firm believer in GFS Pickups at the moment, mainly because I can't afford anything else! I nabbed a Hot Rails-style Tele bridge pup for about 30 bucks plus shipping - great sound, too. But how expressive a pickup are they?

They're by no means on the smae level as DiMarzio in the expressiveness category, but they damn sure have a whole lot more range of expression than the stock Fender that I replaced. I would put them on more of a Duncan spectrum, assuming you that when you think Duncan you think killer tone and when you think DiMarzio you think killer expression and shape. IF you catch my drift.

Oh I do, I do. I guess I'm just a dimarzio type of guy....which is why my epi's coming apart. For those of you that are interested, my Breed Bridge pickup came in, and I've decided to document what I can of the installation. the first part is to move the Humbucker from hell from the bridge position to the neck, and to remove the other Ibanez neck PU. HFH submerged in it's hideaway: and This is just one shot of my workspace so far:

So, continuing on: Here's the ibanez pickup hanging out of the front: and we've got the wiring tangle and jumble in the back. I really couldn't get much for a decent picture while I was soldering (I've only got 2 hands): so here's the last one for now, the wire detached and ready to be removed: That's all for now folks... tune in soon!

Tripp Eisen made a good signature. Ive read alot of good reviews bout that guitar.

Well, here's the next bit in my series of Pickup replacement. I know there's holes, but I could only work so slowly to get pictures in. so here's the guitar, totally stripped out: And there's another with the new neck pickup hanging out of it...(you can see the old pickup on the dresser) And finally, there's one more with a close up of the pickup. to all using dial-up: Sorry about the image size.... I guess you're probably in the minority now.

Well, not to be one-upped by Hylian, I finally decided what I'm going to do with the Teisco parts I have. I'm going to put it back together! Of course it wont be the same, oh no no. A complete rewire is necessary, and it will become a 1 pickup 1 volume guitar expressly for playing slide blues. AAAAND so I don't keep you all waiting, I've already redone the wiring, so she's all ready to be reassembled and stringed up. Here's some documentation.... This is the before shot of the harness; it's a desolate icky looking place, no? Also, you can see a bit of my guitar "workshop": and a closeup: The "after" shot. Much better, don't you think? And a close-up of that, too. I've even labeled some stuff for all of you that would like to start doing your own guitar maintinance and/or wiring... notice the grounding star on the back of the volume pot. This is where all ground connections should go, including the one that goes to the bridge or tremelo claw (thats the long black wire that runs off-screen). Also notice that I use the standard colors for all my wiring, with black being ground and red being "hot". this makes it much easier for others (and sometimes yourself) when going back through to do maintenance on the wiring. And finally the glamour shot! More pics and documentation to come as I start to piece this baby back together. There's really no more maintenance to be done to her, so I should be able to get it all finished tomorrow... hopefully!

Well I have the body assembled already, and the pickguard is lookin ugly a** hell (in a good way) with some stickers and tape on it. However, I ran into a road block with the neck. I had planned to use the tuners off an old 4 + 2 headstock that I had laying around, but unfortunately the bases on them are way too large (they are individual) and end up overlapping horrible with the holes I have. I have a couple of options here. One is to buy a new set of tuners. Another is I could strip out the holes of all finish, glue in some hardwood dowels, and redrill, which would require me basically re-clearcoating the headstock,w hich I don't want to do. Lastlye, I could use four of the old tuners (the four that are still worth a damn), and 2 of the others, and turn this neck into a 4 and 2.
So, in closing, are there any suggestions?
(a) buy new tuners (cost money i dont really have at the moment)
(b) fill the holes and redrill for new tuners (requires basically refinishing the neck)
(b) mix the tuners between new and old (would make it one really butt-a** ugly guitar, but requires less work)
