I hate how in Fushigig Yuugi, Watase throws everything she can at Miaka and Tamahome to spilt them up! And split them up it does! (Well, for a time, anyway.) Poor Miaka. Wouldn't you hate it if a hot guy finally loved you and then you couldn't be with him for various reasons?

OOooooookay! Looks like a lot of people missed some points in Watase-sensei's manga.
Does anyone ever notice how in the end there's always SOME redeeming quality about the supposed "villain" in the series? There's always some underlying reason, which isn't all that bad, that has motivated the "bad" characters to end up as they were. I don't necessarily believe they should be tortured, depending on which case we're talking about here. Nakago, for instance, wasn't all that bad of a character. Manipulative b*****d yes, but, he's also just as much a victim of circumstance and a horrible past as any other character. He just chose a more un-productive way of dealing with what happened to him. Not everyone is so well adjusted.
As for sad endings, where the HELL has anyone seen a sad ending? In all the series I've read from Watase-sensei (and that's more than most people around here) I've never seen what you could call a "sad ending". They've all ended on a happy note, that's what she's known for!
The Kitsune Hanyou:: Okay, so you'd be upset to be separated from a guy purely because he's hot? Can we say shallow? Miaka, for all her faults, really loved Tamahome. The fact that he was hot didn't really play as much into it as it might for someone who thinks looks mean all. Tamahome just happened to be practically perfect rolleyes Watase-sensei is known for making her guys not only very pleasing to the eye but also with great personalities. Basically rolls into a perfect guy, which, as anyone who's ever been in any series of serious/dramatic relationships will tell you, is an impossible and unrealistic kind of thing. Watase-sensei admits it herself, she mentioned in an interview that the guys she creates are so perfect they would be almost unapproachable.
The angst, the drama, the action, the romance, the fantasy... all of Watase-sensei's series have these qualities, and obviously if you guys minded them all that much you wouldn't be here.
And the key to a good plot is a good conflict. I mean, Imadoki would've been really boring if Watase-sensei hadn't thrown SOME kind of kink into Kouki and Tanpopo's budding relationship. That's just how it works.

I mean... the GOOD characters... like, this has to do with Ayashi no Ceres more than fushigi Yuugi...now...that I think of it.. But I think that the good-- Has anyone noticed how all of the good characters get the worst deals; and still somehow manage to remain good; while the bad characters have the best lives? I know what you're thinking... "But they bad guys always get theirs in the end" ...that isn't necessarilly true... not everyone does... and no, I'm not well, maybe I'm talking about a Amiboshi instance where he turned good...and then had to suffer the problems that come with being "good" BUT THEN he got to forget about everything; so.... He was a evil person who got what he wanted in the end. ^_^ (well, he wasn't an evil person per-se, but he did fight for their side; no matter how he came about doing it.) Twilightbluerose Miss Chloie she needs to stop TORTURING THE GOOD CHARACTERS!!! crying Then where would the conflict be? That is one of the best parts of her works.
