((@Ivory: He didn't offer his hand, xD;;;.. He was just wiping them off out of habit. I can change it though. ::wonders if the handshake had been used back then::.. I think they still kissed ladies' hands back then.. xD;;;; ))

Geoff mumbled and gave Lady a pat on the nose, wondering why she saw fit to mess up his hair in public. Although he was certain the natives wouldn't mind; they probably looked silly enough to them as it was.

He chuckled quietly at Nokomei's mimicry and shook his head again, retracting his hand from her and clasping it with his other one in order to demonstrate the friendly gesture. He looked quite silly there, in fact, holding his own hand.

"It's called a handshake." He explained before offering for a second time.

Lady offered a mischevious wink in return. "And what would give you that idea?" She returned his expression with a kind grin of her own as if to prove his point about her being a 'sweet mare'. If horses could blush, her face would be a deep red. "You flatter me.." She spoke as she looked to the ground and idly stamped her hoof.

((Er. Did they ever introduce themselves? I know the humans told each other the horses' names, but do you think they picked that up? xD; ))
((Oops, my bad! sweatdrop *wonders where on earth she picked up something that wasn't there... ninja and no, our soquilis haven't introduced themselves to each other yet.))

Nokomei felt rather silly holding her hand out and instead mocking him in shaking her own hand. Maybe it represented unity...connection...yeah, that had to be it. She smiled broadly, quite sure she was on the right trail of things and more than proud to be one of the 1st of the Kawani to actually be interacting on a mild understanding base with one of the pale faces. "Handshake" she replied clearly, smiling evermore.

"I overheard all this talk about differences and savage tendancies back at the Kawani camp. I however, from the off, never believed a word of it. No matter what we all look like we're all the same at heart" Oathkeeper began. When the sweet and proper mare confessed herself flattered, Oathkeeper chucked, "I really seem to have a tendancy to do so, now don't I?" He gave a light shake of his head, "I say what I mean and I swear, I'm just up front honest, that's all." He gave her another friendly smirk, "And I, don't believe we got properly introduced. I don't know about you, but I much prefer to give myself an intro, rather then let my friend Nokomei do so." He tossed his mane and smiled another sparkling smile, "I'm Oathkeeper, a spirited stallion hailing from the beach region of our lands. Whom are you and where might you be from?"

((I don't see a problem if Harper doesn't, devil. After all, the settlers are here for everyone to encounter. James and Manovia just haven't entirely caught up to the other settlers yet. They were late on arriving on account of James' lack of sea legs XD))

Manovia tilted her head slightly, puzzled as she looked at James in response to Wambli's question. It was then that it instantly clicked with her, why James was awestruck. "AH! Like me, he's never seen one of us with wings before. I imagine it's more of a shock to him, than it is to me. He takes a while for things to sink in, mostly." Nuzzling the young man's head, she tried to wake him up from his stupor.

James came to himself just in time, as Manovia nudged him. Although Anpo wouldn't understand what he said, to try and explain to himself what he just saw, he started to ramble. "Oh, I'm sorry, didn't realize I was staring. Yes, quite rude to stare, I should make it a point not to do that. But it's not every day a person sees a horse with wings. This new land is quite strange I just don't know what to make of it." Pausing, the pale man pointed to Wambli's feathers, and tried to sort out some kind of response that could be understood. "Wings. These... are... wings." Pointing to Manovia's lack there of, he raised his hands in a questioning gesture, as if to ask Anpo how she'd come upon a winged soquili.

Arama frowned. "But they needed a place to build shelter; without that small patch of land they're living on, they'd be forced to live on the ship," she shuddered at the thought. "I'd like to see you try to live in total darkness and cold, where the open water could make you drift away and get lost, and all chances of food would disappear. The masters would never take more than they need. I cannot speak for all of the masters, but mine will probably plant more things."

Turning to Randee, she blinked a bit at the strange coloration before saying, "A pleasure to meet you, Randee. My name is Arama. That thing on my back is a saddle. It helps my master when I'm working."

To Awnae, she said. "Don't worry, he'll be fine. If any of the few masters still there notice him, they'll be so scared they won't be able to do anything but stare."

Giggling at her comment, she smiled. "That definetly made me laugh." She imagined them all pale faces staring at Vib.

Cutting down the trees was kinda wrong, but did the pale faces know? Probably not, they just came to the land, although Awnae left it for Arama and Kanati to figt over instead of her going in it and tell her opion.

Arama kicked at the ground with one of her front feet. "I don't see how, when no one taught them how to make shelters any other way. The masters were all so happy when they saw how many trees there were here. They are so used to having practically no trees in the old world, this place is like a paradise on earth. I am sorry about the trees they had to kill to make simple shelters, but I am sure they will plant new trees."

To Randee, she said, "A saddle helps my master stay on my back when he wants me to carry him to places. Without it, he'd fall off, and I'd be alone and unable to get food or shelter from the rain. I am perfectly free for the times when I am not working, and working is not bad," she said, trying to find a way to explain the relationship she had with her master to these Soquili who had apparently never had such a master. "Where I come from, our kind are free most of the time, but the lands do not yield the food that we need to survive unless the masters work extra diligently to grow food for everyone. There is no shelter, either; the masters have to build it themselves. In gratitude, we learn to carry them, and while working wear a saddle to help them."

She smiled at Awnae. "I am glad. Laughter is a precious thing."

Summer Jessamin reentered the scene, still unable to find her sister. Of course, she hadn't been looking very hard, Summer had fallen alseep in a tree again! Now a little blurry-eyed, she had come back to the scene of the pale face encounter mainly out of curiousity to see what had happened...

Nodding at Arama. "Yes, laughter is something special." Smiling then she just added. "So is love." Blinking at Vib. Then the mare relaxed her self by laying down, from her view, she could see how tall other things were, if she was that height.

"Well cutting them down may be the reason trees to them are rare. Why should a tree die to shelter someone. Its not equal what do the trees get in return for the death of their kin?" Kanati kept calm at the kick on the ground from Arama.
"Your masters sound to simply minded to replant. Just beware and warn your master, not to invaded the forest just past the plains. I will not stand for them being near my home or my teepee with their powers of fire and thunder."

After a long while of wondering in open space, Winter Jessamin skipped to yet another unfamiliar place. She hadn't seen her sister for a while now, it really wasn't her fault that a very curious looking creature had caught her interest! A grumpy look was on her face since she had lost sight of the creature only a few minutes after following it. Of course pleanty of other things had come along and caught her interest but never for a long time.

In the distance, she could see a few figures around. She stopped for a while trying to decide if she should go see who those figures were or just keep going. Well, surely the figures would be more entertaining and with a shrug she left and headed towards them.

((sorry - had to go start supper - and now it is ready!))

Anpo looked from James to Wambli to the new mare and back again. What was the matter with him? Then suddenly it became clear. The wings! Obviously wind soquili were as revered among his people as they were among hers!

Smiling broadly she nodded at him and motioned for Wambli to come closer.

Summer Jessamin had been watching from the back of the group of her people, trying to figure out what had been going on during her absence. All she had really been able to gather was that the pale faces had never seen wind or unicorn soquili... As she stood watching the "action" that was plodding along slowly in front of her, something out of the corner of her eye drew her full attention. It was! Winter Jessamin was coming up now! Very excited that she had finally found her sister, Summer Jessamin darted over and glomped her twin. "I'm so glad you're alright... you had me worried, you know!" Summer liked to nag on her sister like this... and Winter was probably more than used to it.

Of course, the nagging didn't last long because Summer's attention had already been drawn away from Chandrika. She waved back and waited for her sister's response so Summer could drag Winter over to Chandrika in hopes of figuring out what she had missed...

The young man grinned weakly. "Well, at least you're picking up the words."

He began explaining how the settlers arrived, being sure to use gestures and hand signals. His voice seemed to warble with uncertainty as he explained, as speaking in public had never quite been his strong suit. "We came here on a boat, uh, over the ocean. We sailed from.. From England." He hesitated, and muttered to himself, only just realizing how ridiculous he sounded. "Good, Geoff.. As though they understand what an 'England' is.." The doctor cleared his throat and continued. "Perhaps we can trade something for, uh, for food.." He paused again, his face lighting up. "Or medicine!"

Lady nickered in amusement. "It's a good thing you have a smart head on your shoulders, then." She copied his shake, lightly tossing her own silky mane as her ears twitched underneath it. "That's good, too. I've always thought honesty was the best policy."

"My name is Lady." She said in reply, her tone remaining cordial. "My home is located in a place called Bristol, I believe."

((EDIT: Mmmkay. Bye Ivory! ^^ ))
