Corbin slightly loosened up his grip. "Now Rosaline," he said jokingly "Is that all you have to tell me? In your entire life, not ONE thing has ever interested you, or happened to you, or anything? ... I don't believe that."

His radiant smile emerged from his mouth once again. His eyes staring intensly into Rosaline's as he waited for a response that he would actually except. Corbin had been very outgoing for his first masquerade outside of the Kingdom.. It was rather suprising he thought. However the delicate man being in need, gave him reason to take charge and become a little more masculine than he usually was.

[Nolas.]
Jillian smiled. "Yes, I saw that... ingenius, don't you think? Not many peopl study that area of magic..." He turned along with Dax and followed him. Presently he caught sight of someone he thought he remembered being a doctor. He shot the prince a questioning look.

**

[Tato.]
His attention was caught by a boy who had just kicked the man standing neither near nor far from Alti. He hid his grin with a hand. How terribly obvious. And it was made even funnier by the fact that the man was so clearly not interested. His orange eyes danced and flickered - almost flamelike, trait which had created rumours of Fire blood in the family. He hadn't noticed the other looking at him, and if he had he wouldn't have cared. He fingered a lock of hair that had not been clipped back and was content to curl it around his finger as he listened intently to the conversation to two were having, a slight smile playing across his lips.

**

[Sonata]
He nodded. "That's the one. It's rather busy, but that will only disguise us better. After all, there's such thing as safety in numbers - or, at least, if they find out it'll take them too long to search all the boats to see which is ours." He looked around them for a moment, remembering that Dax had just left - he might even have gone inside. "Hmmm... I should go take care of those duplicates," he said thoughtfully.

**

[Landon.]
He inclined his head slightly in a mixture of a small bow and an effort to hide his unneasiness. "What would your highness wish to know? There's not much to tell, but if you have a specific question, I may be able to answer."

"With such a complicated study, I'm surprised Sayael has done so well in learning it at such a young age. That's something that not even many veterans can do," Dax commented but quieted just as the man came into view. "Stefan! I'm sorry to call on you at such an odd time, but Jillian here needs you to look over his arm. He's gotten mixed up with a little frostbite, we believe."

"Oh, dear," the elderly man said. Stefan gave Jillian a toothy grin, awaiting the other to present the said injury. "Well, I can have you fixed up in a jiff! Now, this old man does have a bit of the old magic bite left in him. I could set you up with the reverse effect if you want it gone quickly. It's quite painful though, I should warn you."

He smiled. "I don't mind pain. I beleive the sooner the better as I do like to have the use of both hands." He held out his injured arm for the doctor to see, removing the hot towel he had magiced on to it to warm it as best he could.

Faryn looked relatively surprised. "Those what?" he asked, confused. But alas, he nodded and stepped slightly back so that Sayael could proceed to make his way back to the building. Faryn hadn't noticed it before, but he was shivering significantly now. The icy weather was not what he was used to. When the two remaining royals reached the castle once more, Faryn stepped through the doorway and was pleased to be greeted with the sudden warmth of the indoors.

But... where was Jillian? The minty-haired male was no where in sight, he noted as the golden eyemask was pressed back onto his face.

"Oh... well, to help us slip out, I made a sort of magic duplicates of Dax and I... we should still be dancing... ah, there we are," he said as they entered the ballroom, pointing to the dance floor. He waved his arm and the duplicates made their way over to the wall and then, then no one else was watching, they seemed to... vannish. He smiled. "There we are."

"Of course.. You young people never do care for pain anymore, do you? I wish I had been like that years ago. Ah! But I'm rambling now," Stefan stated, shooing the hot towel away from him completely. He took Jillian forearm in both his hand's grasps. "My, my, my.. You've let this one go a little longer than you should've, but it's nothing that I won't be able to take care of." With much more warning than a squeeze of his hands, a bone chilling numbness was shot into Jillian's body. As if it weren't bad enough, right after followed an equally scorching heat all centered on the area where the frostbite had spread.

He bore the pain stollidly, but he gritted his teeth slightly, nearly biting his tongue. But he endured worse and, as he had said, he didn't mind pain. But this was... different from the usual self-inflicted pain... It was more than skin deep, but he was up to it.

Looking out the window that was on the opposite side of the room, Haar frowned slightly. He wouldn't say that he was used to cold weather, he had to deal with many kinds of weather all the time...but he could certainly say that he didn't like the cold much. Thoughts drifting, the young commander glanced down at his apprentice, who was currently stuffing a muffin-looking pastry into his mouth, with a concerned expression. "Oi, don't eat them all at once, you're going to get sick," he murmured before taking a small bite of the cookie his light haired squire of sorts had given him.

Haar watched with a frown as the boy swallowed everything at once, attempting to clear his mouth so he ask something of him. "When are we leaving?" He asked while brushing off his lips, blue eyes flickering towards the palace door, watching with dry interest as a dark dressed noble stumbled through. The dark haired officer mused to himself, brows furrowed as he thought about the simple question. "Probably later tonight, I don't think we'll be staying too much longer. Unfortunately, I have to at least talk to a few royals while I'm here, the General said I needed to make a good impression, 'For the sake of the nation!'" He said with a sigh, lowering his eyes.

Peyton looked slighty surprised, eyes brightening as he took Haar's arm, tugging him up from his leaning position. "Well, then lets go talk, I don't want to stay here," he mumbled with a cross expression, thoughts drifting back to the scowling man he had seen earlier... Stupid!

Faryn watched the other's magic play out before his eyes. That was a rather useful spell now wasn't it? But ... something tugged on the chrome-haired prince's mind. He'd told Jillian to back off, but he didn't mean to have the other leave him alone at the party altogether. He shouldn't care what became of the boy, but his arm...

Nonsense. Jillian had been a brat to him earlier. He was disrespectful. 'He actually hit me,' he thought, angrily remembering the sting and bruised pride it had left him with. He'd actually thought he was having fun at some point, despite the fact that his father had forced him to go. Now... now, he wanted nothing to do with Jillian. He could lose the arm; Faryn had already tried to reach out as far as he was going to in order to see about getting Jillian to a doctor, but no! The other didn't want help.

"Sayael... good luck," he said, trying to maintain that formality between the two. "For now, I'm going home. I'm sure I'll see you again." He nodded a goodbye rather than extending a hand and made his way back to the front entrance. A servant boy brought him his cloak and he approached the King who seemed to be loitering about, tired from a moment of dancing. "Father extends his regards. It was a lovely ball, sir. I hope you'll forgive my verbal trespassing earlier and not let it become a barrier between our two Kingdoms. Good Evening. I must take my leave now," he let the words flow smoothly, as though they'd been rehearsed.

Dax watched closely as regular color began to retake over Jillian's arm. After about thirty seconds of the inflicting 'cure', the old doctor let go of the man and took a step back.

Stefan wore the same grin as he did before. "There you are," he said. "It should be as good as perfect now. I only advise you not to do anything overly strenuous with that arm within the next 24 hours." He then turned to look at the blonde. "Tell your father I apologize I couldn't attend his party. I don't very much like loud music." And with a short, stiff bow, he turned to leave. "It's about time for this old man to take a nap."

"Sleep well, Stefan," Dax said before turning back to Jillian. ".. Did it actually work?"

Alti inwardly groaned, hoping they weren't going to talk to him. He set his mostly-full glass down carelessly on a waitor's tray as he passed and stood up fully, althouh he slouched slightly. He stuck his hands in his pockets and felt down with his left hand for the wooden clock he had so carefully carved himself and then spelled into working as a real clock. he smiled faintly.

**

Sayael smiled and followed silently after the boy, waiting until he had finished with the king to speak to him. "Really, are you just going to leave Jillian? Was it just me, or did the two of you seem to be together?" he asked calmly, eyes glinting a smile, although no smile graced his lips.

**

He smiled and thanked the doctor courteously. He looked back over to the prince and flexed and curled his fingers a few times. "Yes... although I do not wish to repeat that experience, it did work," he said thoughtfully. "He is a very tallented doctor."

"As much as he likes to deny it, he's the best we've got," Dax said. He didn't even want to know what that experience had been like. "Well, now that that's over, maybe we can find the other two once more. But you severely need to do something about Faryn and your relationship if you're going to continue being his escort. You are his escort, aren't you?"
PostPosted: Sun Jun 04, 2006 12:42 pm

Following his short and superficial goodbye, Faryn turned to nearly crash into the tall male behind him.

With a sharp intake of breath, Faryn glared. "I am not with him, if you must know. So I suppose it was 'just you.' Because I am not remotely attracted to someone who dares to a hand on me. He can find his own way home. Besides, if I don't see him-- and I don't-- he's probably off doing dirty, wretched things with girls rather than actually doing his job. He can go and do what he likes. I don't appreciate being ditched."

"Yes... I am his escort, but I wouldn't be if he hadn't been forced to have me. He's not very fond of me... I suppose I should appologise before he has too much time to steam over this." Jillian gave the prince a slightly sad, but still courteous, smile.
