It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."No sooner had Haruto finally addressed his challengers (albeit with an inconclusive response thus far) than some shouting within his Kingdom stole his attention away from the siege for the moment. Raising a finger towards the two just beyond the gates, he listened to the people shouting about one of their men having gone down to...was it Benetnasch? "Yeaaah, hold that thought! King stuff to deal with. Be right back..." Haruto leaped down from his barricade and back into the city, listening to where the rumors had placed the attack of the Septentrione that he needed to somehow deal with, "...Don't you two go anywhere! Got...big things! Planned...for you...something! Keep the demons out while you're there, would you?"

Also of note about the big, stupid dreidel was that it had dismissed Lucifer (it could DO that?!) immediately after it had been summoned and left the King of Harutopia alone against the Septentrione. His soldiers were already falling back by his order, but the King felt beholden to his people, to try and turn this threat aside by any means and to somehow escape and reach the fallen soldier if he could...to bring him back from the verge. That's what a good king would do...every life, every soldier matters. It's what Mandingo Pendragon would do...
"Wait, it's what Mandingo Pendragon would do...? How do I know...?" he suddenly froze, his mind snapping to as if an entire half of the thing had suddenly sprung back to life...images of himself running a karaoke parlor, holding a knife...cooking shrimp on a barbie...himself, what?! "Am I...?!"

 Ellie Troit, Heroine, and Ruler of Troitown!! Once a Harutopian, always a Harutopian.
So what if she technically was on the side of Meritocracy? She couldn't let a friend of hers die!
And, as Trumpeter blew his mighty horn to force Benetnasch away from Haruto, the girl dissappeared into the shadows.
'Even if we're technically different sides...' she thought, the trumpeter demon rearing up..before she started away. Yamato would likely not be pleased about her saving the enemy....
But, she didn't really care much for the whole Meritocracy thing anyways. She also had to tear through a horde of demons seeking to usurp her savior role, but that was an afterthought to saving a whole nation.

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all...""Once a Harutopian..." the King's vision cleared from the blow that had knocked him for quite a loop landed by Benny...existential realizations about your delusional insomnia-self Tyler Durden-esque secondary personality later! If he made that mistake again he might not be so fortunate as to have Ellie around to pull him out of the fire. Nodding his thanks and offering that grateful smile he could so easily dish out, Haruto stood again to his feet and fought off an invader that tried to take an easy chance to eliminate his faction in one fell swoop. Too close. And yet not quite close enough. He shook off the cobwebs still filling his head and saw again, with great relief, that Ellie's intervention had saved his fallen citizen as well. Colm Watanabe...he knew that hat anywhere! Member of SEES-2, lover of demons and female forms anywhere! ...When had he joined the party? They should have been hanging out...
"Colm! I've been looking for a man with your skills. I need you to help me with something..." the King moved to his side swiftly and patted his back, "Since we're on the same side, but my losing means our dream fails immediately...do you think you could deal with Saito out there? Ellie Troit, Heroine, and Ruler of Troitown!! And, though she herself had some trouble moving through the area....Her own demons were soon suppressed by Benetnasch, but, she merely kept running.
"Hat. Move!" she called, dragging the hat-wearing figure by his arm and yanking him out of the way. One of her demons had dispersed into essence to give her the energy to escape....

 Colm Watanabi Colm's mind was hazy as he could feel all strength leaving his body.. Along with the blood. Damn chaotic mess. He must've landed on some sharp piece of metal when he was blown away earlier. Though something, or rather someone, dragged him out of the way of a would-be killing blow. 'A girl in a super hero get up..? Heh. What are the odds.' The man pulled the girl along with him to get them out of harms way together, not wanting her to die because of him. "Thanks a bunch for that, Miss Heroine."

Maybe if he presented it in the form of a question he would think he was on Jeopardy and...no, no, that's a crazy idea. No, it seemed that being straight with Colm really had been the best plan he could come up with. If he duped his soldiers into taking on a battle that they weren't willing to enter, then he would be no better than some of the other leaders just trying to get their own ideals realized through this contest of strength. Harutopia might have the fewest followers, just a section of a town instead of an entire city or government organization behind it, but damn it, they were going to hold onto the moral high ground one way or another!

Colm muttered to himself, now having second thoughts on his position. He missed the SEES-2 gang, he really did. Sure he had this stupid curse mark but being in that dorm wasn't so bad.. Was he being selfish in siding with Haruto? His thoughts were derailed after his phone rang like crazy. When he looked.. he saw it. The death face video once again. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."Back at the Wall, the situation wasn't rapidly deteriorating...but whoever was making those Pipe Bombs was still out there doing their chaotic thing. Another one had stricken a part of the outer wall and forced several of the defenders to fall back a bit more, allowing the attackers to make a surge before being forced back by the demons of the defenders. Haruto's forces weren't large, but they were organized after a week of surviving in this Calamity together! They wouldn't crumble so easily!
"What's our status? Is Saito still out there?" he asked, but one listen for his Okina Teammate answered that question. What a stick-in-the-mud...did he not realize how flawed the other systems in this whole 'war' really were? Only this one, his Harutopian ideal, promoted a true harmony! Why did he think this was such a bad thing? ...Was it the cape?

Having his hand on his phone ready to use his demon to aid in his fleeing, he had noticed that he could not summon it at all. And before he could look at the thing again, he heard an unnatural sound, before he was eclipsed in a beam of energy that erased him from existence, phone and all. "But why does it look like a big turni-s**t!" the King of Harutopia leaped off the top of the wall as Benetnasch attacked the Kingdom, which...wasn't a particularly great idea since the current area of the Kingdom wall he was watching from was the top of the three-story Police Station currently referred to as 'Death Island'...a rather appropriate moniker since he was falling, oh, probably TO his unlikely death right about now.
