Walking from city to city, while contributing to a healthy lifestyle, was steeped in monotony and quickly left Jinx agitated and in need of some sort of reprieve. Her victory now long forgotten, she patted her hand against her thigh rapidly and began muttering underneath her breath as they returned to Eterna, her gaze lowered to the ground. Opal, for all her training, could only stare in slight concern before she looked away, and quickly at that, in the hopes of finding some sort of stimuli for her trainer. Agate kept her gaze straight ahead, deciding not to involve herself, unless it became necessary.
"What time is it?" She asked abruptly, directing her question to Opal. The Slowking opened her mouth, but stopped to consider her answer. "Your phone is in your bag," she reminded her, cautiously. Jinx, unresponsive for several seconds afterwards, nodded eventually before turning around to rifle around in her bag for her phone. In the darkening hours her face was quickly illuminated by the light from her phone, which allowed her pokemon to clearly see her frown. With a 'tsk' she shoved her phone back into her bag, though stopped when she felt something soft, and almost spongy, brush against her hand. With so little in her bag, none of which had the sort of texture she'd just felt, she opened her bag further to reinspect the contents of her bag. What she found were two mushrooms, and close by a dark blue candle she definitely hadn't put in her bag.
"What are these?" Pulling all three out, Jinx thrust them into Opal's face. She grunted, stepped back, and shot the human an unappreciative glare before redirecting her attention to the items in front of her. "They're a few items Imperium thought would benefit you," she answered flatly. "The mushrooms will teach your pokemon a new move, and the candle--" Opal was interrupted, mid-explanation, by the sound of a match being lit and the subsequent hissing of a soft flame; she had matches, of course she did. Exasperation already setting in, Opal lifted her gaze to watch as Jinx lit the candle before holding it out to the evening sky. A scent began wafting through the air, a sickening mixture of soot and copper, overwhelmingly powerful and forcing both Opal and Agate to cover their noses. "...Attracts a certain type of pokemon," she finished, before gagging and tucking her head down to the best of her ability, without toppling over; stupid, permanent crown. It wasn't even functional!
Jinx, unperturbed by the smell herself, looked away from the flickering flame, blending in with the blood-orange evening sky, but quickly turned her head when a tiny roar echoed throughout the area, and a dwarfish land shark jumped out at the woman, its eyes bright with the flames of battle. Jinx ticked her head to the side, observing the strange creature, before looking down at the mushrooms still in her hand. Silently she threw them to the ground, confusing the Gible in front of her, before releasing Aklor right atop the fungi. Appearing teeth first, she quickly gobbled up both mushrooms before, with teeth still aching to sink into something more solid, she turned her attention to the pokemon before her.

Though she'd taken a bit of damage herself, too slow to get the first attack in, Aklor's strength more than made up for her lack of speed. Clamped down tight, she thrashed about on the cobblestone with an unconscious Gabite between her teeth before unceremoniously spitting it out and growling softly; she'd lost interest the second the creature had lost consciousness. After witnessing such a battle Jinx, whose previous boredom had become a thing of the past (at least for now), made her approval known with a squeal and a light smattering of applause. Opal didn't share her enthusiasm, and with a hand still slapped over her nose she couldn't help but shudder when Aklor went after another Gabite, lured in by the scent of the candle.

Once it'd been confirmed that, as long as the fire remained, pokemon would continue to flock to their location, Jinx left Aklor to fight to her heart's contet, her quick-snapping jaws enough to assure the woman that she wouldn't need monitoring. She gave a sigh, fingers stretching out to drum against her outer thigh, before settling her mouth into a frown. It was 6:30 now, which meant she still had an hour and a half to kill before Kaeden called. Now what she could do during that time... that was the issue, though she did play around with the idea of going for her next badge; Kaeden would surely be pleased if she managed to win two badges within the span of a day.

Settling on the idea of battling yet another gym, Jinx began busying herself with research, and used her phone to search up the most basic of information on Eterna City's gym leader. While in the midst of that she cast a glance over to Aklor, who'd yet to lose any stamina, but huffed when she saw the shark mangling the fin of yet another one of the blue pokemon. As entertaining as it was she had to wonder, weren't there any other dragon type the candle could attract? Or was it just going to be the same pokemon, over and over again? She wouldn't complain if it was the latter, it was Aklor who would end up dealing with them, not her. Though it did bring up a sudden realization, that she needed a proper name. She and Sember.

Though creativity was one of her skill sets, what Jinx lacked was the attention span to give her pokemon names. She'd never owned a pokemon before now, but Jinx acknowledged the benefits of nicknaming a pokemon, as it was much quicker to call to their attention using an actual name rather than their species. But, again, she couldn't will herself to focus long enough to think of individual names, which was why she left that job to Opal. She didn't mind naming new pokemon, no more than she minded doing anything else Jinx told her to do, and she rather liked the names she picked out; she liked Agate's name.

"Opal." Jinx called out to the pokemon, which prompted the pokemon's immediate head turn. She gestured over to Aklor, who was steadily gnawing on the arm of an unconscious blue dragon--a new pokemon--before unceremoniously spitting it out and swiveling her large head over to the next pokemon. "I want you to think of a name for her, and the Sember," she ordered. Opal folded her arms over her stomach and tilted her head back, silently agreeing and already thinking of possibilities. Jinx left her to it, and looked back over at her soon-to-be-named Aklor. Just a few more battles, then they'd be ready for the one that truly mattered.

Jinx looked around the area; a stone sidewalk here, divided by a street, and a grassy area with a staircase that led up to... something, she couldn't see from there. She moved onto the grass and laid down, her eyes searching the sky for the early stars that twinkled in the early evening sky. Spotting one, alone in the dark orange sky, she reached a hand out and pinched the luminous sphere between her thumb and forefinger, and hummed softly as she imagined extinguishing the light. With the sound of battle echoing close by, Jinx imagined herself amongst the sky, free-falling through the air with the wind pushing past her face; it was a good way to pass the time, and an exhilaration rush that she missed.
Maybe she'd look into skydiving, once she finished this badge collecting.

Keeping her hand outstretched Jinx turned her head to the left, eyes temporarily drawn to her tattoos, and raised an eyebrow to Opal. "Lazurite for Aklor, Sphene for Sember," Opal suggested, getting right into it; no need to beat around the bush. Jinx pushed herself into a sitting position, arms behind her and palms flat against the ground, before casting a glance over to Aklor, still chomping away at lured-in dragons. Lazurite... that was a pretty name, and she recognized it as another gem. Sphene, she had no idea about, but she could see the theme. "Alright."

Jinx leaned back on her hands, attention now fully fixated on Lazurite, which was Opal's indication that she was excused, she'd done her job now she could go back to... waiting with Agate for their trainer to decide that they could move on, and do something more productive; whenever that was. Opal spared a cursory glance at the blue-haired woman, from the corner of her eye. It might've been sooner, from the way Jinx was starting to fidget. What was next after the gym, she had to wonder. Hopefully it was getting food; she couldn't have been the only one starting to get hungry...

Jinx tapped her foot against the ground, the sound dulled by the blades of grass underneath. Two more battles, two more dragons and then they'd go on to challenge the gym leader; enough time should have passed by then for her to call Kaeden. The pained cry of a small pokemon prompted her to check in on Lazurite's progress, she was doing well. But, that meant that there was only one more dragon to go--at least for now, the candle showed no signs of going out--she stood to her feet in preparation.

With a single, ice-encrusted, chomp, yet another dragon fell, a different one from the first two as Jinx had noticed that several of the same species came in groups before a different appeared, and that meant that they were done. She looked curiously at the candle, trying to figure whether or not to just extinguish it and be on her way or keep it alight, and ultimately decided on the latter; she was sure they could make use of the candle even after their battle. Decision made, Jinx waltzed over to Lazurite, who was dragging her head left and right to search out a new opponent, and tapped her snout with the toe of her shoe, grabbing her attention.
"That's enough for now, Lazurite," Jinx informed, and immediately the shark stilled. "We'll get you healed and then--" Snapping her teeth, and cutting her own sentence in half, she jumped back, a laugh bubbling forth, seconds before Lazurite snapped at the now empty air. She flopped back onto the ground, and growled softly at the lack of a foot in between her teeth. A few feet away, and out of the biting zone, Jinx clapped heartily, drowning out the last utterances of her laughter, before she breathed out; she could feel it now, her heart racing from nearly having her foot mauled (if not bitten clean off).
"Save it for your battle," was all the woman said, a suggestion really, before she returned the still growling shark to her pokeball. It wasn't long after that her heart rate returned to normal. From there she spun on her heels--something she wouldn't have been able to do, if she only had one foot--to face the direction of the Pokemon Center, which just so happened to be where Opal and Agate stood, their eyes wide in shock. Opal was the first to recover, and when Jinx brushed past them in her quest to the Pokemon Center, she gently nudged Agate to follow along, lest she be left behind. The three entered the Pokemon Center together, and with no one else inside at the moment it wasn't long before they were leaving, and this time in the direction of the gym.

Once they stood at the doors of the gym Jinx took the time to release Lazurite, she was a simple-minded creature, she could tell, so explaining the game plan instead of just throwing her out would be for the best. "You're going to be battling non-dragons now, and after I'll return you." Of course, that didn't mean she would go into full detail about their plan, mostly because there wasn't so much of one but rather an idea, but Lazurite seemed to understand either way, and she didn't try biting Jinx or the other two pokemon, so that was a bonus. She turned her back to Lazurite to open the door, and in the few seconds it took to complete the action the shark took the time to stick her head into the nearby bushes.
The sound of crunching caught Jinx's attention, and she turned back around to find half of Lazurite's body protruding from a bush, her tail lashing back and forth happily, while Opal and Agate watched on. Agate seemed nervous, as she was about most things, while Opal only offered a shrug when she caught Jinx's eye. The woman huffed before grabbing Lazurite's dorsal fin with both hands, and unceremoniously dragging her back out. Lazurite grunted when she was brought back, and quickly finished whatever it was she'd been eating. Jinx looked her over, unable to tell what it was she'd eaten. Her mouth was clean, and she didn't look immediately sick... so she concluded that, whatever it was, wasn't important enough to warrant an investigation.
"C'mon." Nudging her tail, Jinx let Lazurite go inside first before she stepped inside. The interior of the gym was what one might inspect of a grass-type gym leader, full of fauna with an overall earthy vibe, but she was quick to dismiss the design and headed deeper inside to locate Gardenia and officially call for a battle. She could only hope that this battle was as, mildly, entertaining as the last.

Though her visage remained unchanged Jinx's body language revealed that the gym battle had left her disappointed, and she took her rewards from Gardenia with nary a word. Yes, they'd won, and Lazurite had been the sole pokemon used, but the moves Gardenia's own pokemon had utilized had drawn out the battle, robbing the blue-haired woman of a quick and easy victory, and after a while biting attacks grew stale. But! She had to look on the bright side, Lazurite had enjoyed herself, even if she was left with a few leaves stuck in her teeth, and now the team had their second badge. Surely, Kaeden would be proud.
Speaking of her brother, it was 7:55 now, his call would be coming in five minutes. So, that gave Jinx enough time to return to the Pokemon Center and have Lazurite healed, then send her and the rest of the team, minus Sphene, outside. The candle from before was shoved into Opal's hand, which meant that she was responsible in making sure that the other two continued battle; joy. Deadpanning, Opal reluctantly motioned for Agate and Lazurite to follow her away from the Pokemon Center's doors, to keep from being a nuisance, and once she was far away enough she slumped down into a sitting position. "Is... is this alright?" Agate asked, quietly, and the older pokemon heaved a sigh before nodding her head. "It's fine," she assured, then gestured over to Lazurite, who was already attacking a Dratini; she was a savage little thing. "I'll let you know when it's your turn." Agate swallowed heavily, but eventually nodded her head.
Meanwhile, back in the Pokemon Center, Jinx was doing a last minute check of herself in the mirror of the woman's bathroom. Because the center offered the option of doing a video call she would actually be able to see her brother, and that meant she had to look presentable. She gave an irritable swipe of her bang--why didn't she just cut this?!--before exhaling softly, and mentally proclaiming herself ready. Throwing open the bathroom door, Jinx skipped back into the lobby and directly to a phone booth, where she gave one last brush over her clothes before inputting Kaeden's number.
A ring resonated out, and on the screen a little phone icon shook, then another, and then another, before the ringing stopped abruptly and an image of a man's face flickered onto the screen. Jinx grinned as wide as a kid in a candy shop.

Jinx exclaimed happily as she stared at her brother's face from the screen, subconsciously sitting up straighter and placing her hands into her lap; he could only see her profile, she knew, but good posture was important. I got two badges already!" she blurted out, and before her brother could respond she'd already dug the two pieces of metal out and thrust them eagerly at the screen. Out of habit the man leaned forward, his face getting closer, before he nodded his head, in approval. "Already? I guess you're really taking to this whole trainer life, huh?" She could tell her was joking, and so she laughed, a soft trill that carried with it pure amusement, and glided her hands down her braids. "Yeah, I guess," she agreed casually. "I'd still prefer to be working in the lab though." Not only would she, physically, be closer to Kaeden, but she'd be back amongst her work and mini projects; her truest joys.
