Indeed, she was impressed, and starting to mellow out a little bit. Combat was fading from her mind, not completely, but enough.
"Okay, that's an interesting tool, the sattelite feedback is a perfect feature. I'll be using this a lot. I bet you worked really hard on this, it's really cool. I love it."
She even tried it on, perfect fit.
"Thanks, this is great. I can keep it right?"

Leslie giggled. Kid in a candy store.
"Hang on- I haven't explained everything yet. If you think it's cool now- wait until you hear everything else."
She pointed towards the camera. "Every helmet has one of these digital cameras located on the left side. What they are for is quite interesting. See that area at the top left of your visor? That imagery technology allows you to see what your other teammates are looking at, even as they peek around a corner. That way, you are notified of threats without ever having to expose your own neck. You are synched with only one camera at a time though, and the first camera that you are linked with is that of your adjutant. The camera also works with those who are in support vehicles- tanks, APCs, helos, the whole thing.
"Also, that laser pointer there on the right is, naturally, for aiming purposes. Your weapons don't really need an LAM any more with that."
She then pointed towards the Tactical Response Watch.
"With all this, it needs a proper mechanism to control the whole thing. That blue button there on your watch controls the camera output between your team, and your support vehicles. Press it whenever someone's got a message for you, and the feed will switch. It's completely wireless so you won't have anything else disturbing you.
"The green button not only synchs up the interface- turns the damn thing on, in other words- but one press will activate the window on the top right side. This will be for any communications you recieve- video transmissions via, once again, the sattelite. Check in here for new orders or information relative to the mission. Oh, and if you want to activate your helmet, hold that same green button down for all of three seconds. The biometrics will take care of the rest."
She shrugged. "That's about it. What's your opinion now?"

Adaire lifted the helmet above her head and peered inside once all was said and done. She had listeneed intently, taking mental notes of everything Leslie said. Quote: She pointed towards the camera. Your weapons don't really need an LAM any more with that." "I never had anything like this before," Adaire said, smiling pleasantly. "In fact, this is the first time I ever even wore a helmet. Trust me, I won't need a laser pointer. I never used to wear anything except a camoflauge cloth. I hope this doesn't mess up my hair too much. I hate helmet hair. Don't worry, I will use it, I swear I'll use it alot."Adaire never remembered being this friendly with a stranger before, then again, she never remembered being this friendly with anyone. "Wow, I really have changed," she whispered to herself.

Musing to herself for a moment, Leslie responded to the Captain's earlier comment of not having to wear anything but camouflage.
"Don't worry about helmet hair. You'll be all right in that regard, and it'll be the least of your worries. We don't want you getting hurt out there, you know. Next time, it might not just be your shoulder, so you might want to consider making this a part of your everyday gear."
Leslie smiled back, just as pleasantly. "I'm sure that the security chief can fill you in on the rest. For now, we have twelve of these helmets- one for each member of your team. Send 'em down here, and we'll get them set up. That sound good? This one's just the prototype, not the production model. If you want, I could give you yours now..."

"I'll take it!!! .......and I'll send the rest of my team down to get fit for theirs. We'll be unstoppable with this kind of technology! As soon as everything's ready we'll take them."
She stopped a moment, "Leslie, do you think they'll be sending us out right away. I want to make a call into Durem to check on someo... somethings. And possibly get some rest before going out again. Just a few hours, I think it would be best for everyone if they had some time to rest. I'm sure we're going to be busy. I wonder how much I'll get to see...."
She was a bit tired herself, suppresing a yawn that made the rest of what she said inaudible. Then she sighed, looking away awkwardly, as if longing for something and a little lost.

Leslie blinked for a moment, then smiled warmly. She had a good idea of what this was about.
"You guys get the best hotel in Central Aekea. Take your rest and make your phone call to check on your... something." A giggle. "You'll be called in for a briefing once some new information comes around. For now, try and enjoy the city that you guys saved. There are more good things around here than bad, you know."
And with that, she got what she had come here for- her and Dorian, and the other team member that she had elected to come with them.

Eripse had made do, yes, in the office afterwards, Sprawling out on the floor, the chairs, the table... Just... messing. Exploring. Having fun, as a child might do when the parents leave one with an entirely too big room to itself. She would peek, quietly, at Daniel as he entered at the other side of the room, having just voyaged down the dark and gloomy tunnel of table legs.
"Define Squared away, and interested in working."
A goofy grin smeared her features momentarily, before she shrugged, and slid gracefully onto the table. She'd purchased a pair of jeans and a white button up, so she atleast looked a mode of decent. Laying on her back, she looked up at the ceiling, thoughtfully.
"You're sending me to West Fall, aren't you?"

Gareth is still annoyed by the lack of information about his parents. He was angry before that; most of the anger had manifested itself in his lengthy insult hurled at that overly cheerful desk clerk back at the law firm.
Gareth: Too long...I need to keep the insults succinct...but the look on his face!
A gleeful snigger under his breath disturbs a few people walking near him, but he could care less right now.
Gareth: Gotta get back home and check what all I got in this envelope.
With that in mind, Gareth strides along the main streets, stepping over and around flaming wreckage and rubble on his way.

New Equipment: Tactical Combat Helmet Updated Equipment: Tactical Response Watch There was a hint of embaressment and frustration in Adaire's voice as she tucked the helmet under her arm. "It's..... not what you think!" she said, "Really, it's not."
Darn, I used to be better at keeping this sort of thing to myself. No, actually, I never quite had this sort of thing to deal with."I thought we'd be based here, but I suppose the need to commute would help us keep our eyes on the city. Sounds comfy though, I really can't wait."Adaire smiled again, a calm patient smile that was completely inconsistant with the type of work she was doing. "Thank you for the equipment, I really appreciate all your hard work."With that she bowed, almost courtseyed, and left with her crew, sending a suggestion that all team members should visit and receive new ordinance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the hotel, she would fall on a couch and dial a number on her cell phone.

Random Stranger #36 Eripse had made do, yes, in the office afterwards, Sprawling out on the floor, the chairs, the table... Just... messing. Exploring. She would peek, quietly, at Daniel as he entered at the other side of the room, having just voyaged down the dark and gloomy tunnel of table legs. "Define Squared away, and interested in working." Laying on her back, she looked up at the ceiling, thoughtfully. "You're sending me to West Fall, aren't you?" He nodded.
"Perceptive of you."
With that, he stood and peered at the phoenix- or rather, robo-phoenix. Whatever she had become now. "You are to proceed to West Fall first thing in the morning and check out this Central Axis Corporation. I want to know when it was thought of, when it was started, and what they're doing. Pay special attention to this Citadel of theirs.
"If they're up to what I think they are, it could get very, very nasty. I also want you to contact President Slatsky with any information you may find- and myself, of course. If this is West Fall's hidden war machine, we need all the clearance we can get to blow it to pieces. Understand?"

Eripse would frown, rubbing her face. She was flesh and feathers now, but with a hint of notice, she was radiating heat. Sitting up, she'd sigh, looking at the body...
"Alright. I expect you'll give me some form of communication? I mean, I may be -good-, but I'm not good enough to be able to zip back and forth between here and there..." Her left arm, briefly, would glow, sparking magnificiently into a light source of heat and... woah-s**t. She'd frown, peering at it.
"I need an animal, by the way. Something common to West Fall. A dog, a Cat, hell, a ******** bunny rabbit. Just something." It would be, depending on Daniel's perceptiveness, obvious that she was stressing out, suddenly. "Preferably something unique. Not a mongrel."

It was very obvious indeed. Her tone of voice gave it away more than anything, but the look on her face when she looked at her arm gave it away too.
"...We'll look into it. Is there something wrong? You seem upset."

Eripse would merely frown at Daniel, contemplating.
"Nothing is wrong, exactly... My body is just expiring. On second thought... Make it something canine." A smile curled her lips at that, as she sat back down, frowning at him acrossed the way.
"So you want me to go in and be a spy again?" A soft, casual frown, as she mused this. "I thought by now you'd figure out that I'm more of the bunker buster type."

"Noted. That said, tough."
Daniel crossed his arms and gave Eri a fixed stare.
"A mercenary, like a soldier, must be adapt in all diciplines. Consider this hands-on infiltration and espionage training. Besides, you did well enough mingling in with the prosthetic users here. "Oh, and if you fail, as in are captured or killed, your actions will be stricken from the records. You're going to have to use a bit of tact for this one. Be ready by tomorrow morning, early. We'll set you up with a laptop and sattelite uplink as soon as you get into the city. It's the only undetectable way we can get in touch with you. Your records, bank account, and anything else you need will be set up by the time you leave, so make sure you're detailed about what you want.
"You still got a problem with all this?"

Elsewhere, the door of Gareth's apartment springs open as he lets himself in. The sight of the clean interior gives him a small surge of pride as he plops down on the couch and undoes the little metal clasp that holds the manilla folder shut. Unceremoniously, he dumps the keys into his hand, hefts them a couple times for no apparent reason, then shoves them into his right pocket for safe-keeping. He slips the remaining papers out of the envelope to rest in his hand. With some interest, he flips through them, noting the stocks so he can check their value once he gets a newspaper and glancing briefly over the deed to make sure it's in order. He decides to "file" the papers in the metal-coated briefcase that previously housed the computer framework he had created...but before he does, he notices one sheet of paper that had several typed paragraphs and no official seals. He sets it to one side as he stuffs the officious papers into the briefcase, then picks it up to read. Gareth's Parents Dear Gareth: If you're reading this letter, it probably means that we've passed away. There are some things that we need to explain to you that we couldn't possibly have explained to you earlier because you were so young. We only hope that it's not too late. You probably resent us for putting you up for adoption. When you were born, we thought you were a blessing...but there were complications. Your mother had problems with the delivery, which meant that we had to pay for expensive surgeries to correct those problems. You didn't fare so well either, so more money was emptied from our personal funds. Once everyone's health had been stabilized, there was barely enough money left to feed and clothe the three of us. There were hard times ahead for us, and we didn't want you to have to suffer the hardships we were going to suffer. So we put you up for adoption in the hopes that a loving family that could support you would adopt you. You were born on a Friday the 13th: it wasn't your luck that ruined us, it was ours that could have ruined you. We managed to recover from that slump, but you had been buried so far into the fostering system that we couldn't find you. Our only hope is that our new law firm can locate you someday so you can receive what's yours...and our apologies. Our love, Marcus O. Mordant Julia A. Mordant Gareth reads through the letter once...then a second time to make sure his eyes aren't misleading him. Gareth: Well s**t.He wipes at his eyes with the back of his hands as he gently sets the piece of paper in the briefcase with the rest. Then he snaps it closed and shoves it under his bed for safety as he stands. Gareth: I need some booze...Numbly, Gareth opens the apartment door and slowly walks down the stairs, his mind going over the letter as he tries to think of a good place to drink. Gareth: Back at that crazy marble thing...somebody mentioned this place called the Firebrand Tavern...hell, sounds as good as anything. With less vigor than usual, he punts open the lobby door of the apartment building and makes his way to a phone booth so he can look up where this "Firebrand" is...
