Earendil didn't respond to Lin's voice or her touch. Mari, who was standing in the doorway, looked behind her into the hall. "Kyrie," she called, "we need you here!"

Kyrie slipped between people to make her way into the cell. She cursed when she saw Earendil's condition and moved immediately to examine him.

Andarien was also trying to make his way through the people who were crowded around the door, but he was having trouble. "Let me through!" he begged them, trying to push through them.

Miyuki put a hand on her brother's shoulder, and tapped the person in front of them.

"Please let us see our father,"
she asked the people in front of them.

For those that didn't know them, she figured no one realized that Andarien and her were his children.

Andarien stopped trying to push when Miyuki put her hand on his shoulder, but his heart was racing. He wanted to see his father! If Mari was calling for Kyrie then something had to be very wrong, didn't it?

The soldiers in front of the children stepped aside and tried to make some room for Andarien and Miyuki to pass between them, but even with them trying to make space it was rather crowded. They would have to squeeze through the people.

In the meantime, Kyrie was examining Earendil, and she didn't like what she saw. She glanced up at Lin.

"He needs more help than I can give him," she told her quietly. "We could rush him to Ahkshi, but I don't even know what he would be able to do. Magical help would be best."

She glanced up at Lancaeriel, who was also in the cell.

Lin looked to where Kyrie was glancing at. Lancaeriel was the only person they knew who would have that kind of ability.

"Is there anything that can be done?" Lin asked Lanceriel carefully.

Growing up with Yukito, she was well aware there were limits, or rather there were limits that some couldn't or weren't comfortable crossing.

Lancaeriel blinked slowly as she looked at Earendil, and then she looked towards the doorway.

"Coriander was always the best at healing," she said softly.

Cael stepped into the cell, which was growing very crowded by now. It wasn't a large one, and aside from Earendil lying down, which already took up most of the space, there was already Lin, Lancaeriel, Kyrie and Mari.

"I will do what I can," he promised.

Just then, Andarien finally made his way to the door. He peered inside. "Nana? Is it okay to come in?" he asked in a small voice.

Lin looked up and around, even if there had been more room, she decided it would be wise not to have Andarien or Miyuki come in. She slowly moved out of the way so Cael could have room to work.

"No, you and your sister stay outside for now," she told him.

Cael knelt next to Earendil, making sure to keep his body between the prince and the doorway so that those in the hall wouldn't be able to see him.

"His pulse is weak, almost impossible to count," Kyrie told him quietly, trying not to let the children overhear. "He's hypothermic, too. And I'm worried about his eyes."

Cael lifted one of Earendil's eyelids, and he grimaced when he saw that his eye was bloody.

"Lancaeriel, I may need you to back me up," he told her without looking away from Earendil. Lancaeriel nodded and passed the light orb over to Mari to hold it so that she could kneel next to Cael. The two of them turned Earendil so that he was lying on his back, and then Cael held one hand over each of Earendil's cheeks and began to work.

Lin tried her best not to wring her hands as she watched the two work. She had no idea what to expect once they were done or how Earendil might be.

She just hoped he would be okay.

Miyuki had heard her mother and hung back, but with so many people she wasn't really able to see what was going on.

"Nana?" Andarien called into the cell, trying to see past Cael and Lancaeriel and failing. "What's going on? Is Ada okay?"

Earendil's wounds were slowly beginning to mend, but some of them were resisting the magic. It didn't help that Cael's abilities had been dormant for all of his current life. He held one hand towards Lancaeriel, and she clasped it with her own. The wounds began to heal a bit faster, and those that had until now been resistant to the magic began to react slowly.

Lin decided to head out of the cell to talk to Andarien and Miyuki. Though she mused, she might frighten him seeing as when she went to check on Earendil she ended up covered in his blood. So her dark clothes were stained darker colours and it showed on her skin.

Once she was in front of her children, she explained that their father was hurt very badly and that he was being healed at the moment.

Andarien listened carefully, anxiously; and when Lin had finished explaining, he asked, "But ... he's going to be okay, right? Because they're helping him?"

He rubbed his arms, not only out of cold, since it was so cold down there, but also from anxiety. He was terrified for his father. He wanted nothing more than for him to be all right.

"From the looks of it, he'll live but I don't know how far that healing will go, I don't know if there will be any permanent damage."

She didn't know much about this kind of magic or what Cael was capable of, so she couldn't say. Also, Earendil was very badly injured.

Andarien nodded dumbly and moved closer to Ponydash to warm up.

Suddenly Earendil mumbled something, and Cael smiled to himself. The healing was working - at least so far.

"I'll be back, both of you stay out here," Lin told the children before ducking back into the cell to see how things were going.

She hadn't heard Earendil mumble and Lin figured she was liable to wring her hands if she didn't at least watch what was going on.

Kyrie looked up at Lin as she approached them all, and she smiled encouragingly at her.

"He said something, that's a good sign," she said quietly. "I didn't catch what he said, it was very quiet, but it was something."

She was very pleased, and she tugged Lin a bit closer to Earendil so that she could see what was happening and would be able to hear if he said anything else.
