Itoto had been given a task. Reasoning like 'why' he should do it was nonexistent. Irrelavent. Small things like collecting fragments felt like his life's purpose, just because it was a 'purpose'. If he was needed for something, no matter how small, it felt right.
The world he inhabited didn't feel wrong, or off. It was what it was. This was the world. This dark place, with tight turns and a wide array of twisting walkways. It made his heart swell with something good. What that was he wasn't sure, and didn't care t look any deeper into why.
His small, grey frame weaved carefully around each corner. His wispy hand grazed over walls, surfaces out of curiosity and often times to remain stable on his feet.
A fragment, clouded in shadow, found its way into his sights, and soon into his grasp.
But something odd happened, like sudden static on a clear picture. It was more brief than a blink of the eye. A memory? A glitch within his own being? There might have been a name, maybe even a face. However, it was gone now. The fragment was likely a powerful thing, that just had to get back to the Goddess.

Mel'ae's eyes glinted as she saw a nearby male figure move near her. Now was a good time, especially considering that this one didn't seem too preoccupied with gathering the fragments like many of the others had been. Unknown to the other she hopped down in front of him with a wide grin.
"Hello!" She said, swaying her body side to side with a curious aura about her. "Did you finish too?" Her grin continued and seemed to linger as she stared at the other, the glint in her eye never fading as her wide eyes continued to gaze at him.
Err... Is it just me or I attract female shadows? Thought Eir on the back of his...head.
"Yes. I am finished with the Daily task of hopscotching across the town." answered him sarcastically, seeing one shadow who done that passing in front of them in a despaired attempt to catch a low-hovering Fragment. It was rather funny to watch, really.
"But now...I'm seeking few more shadows to take down a monster. It was near here...VERY near. We--I with other shadow tried to took it down but it was unsuccessful, so I thought maybe if we gathered more people we can do it?" he suggested.
The petite female shadow's 'heart' seems to stir. Is it a good sign or?

The girl was gone then, and Yacha stared after her for a moment. She must have gone to give her shards to the Goddess, Yacha decided. She should catch her own so she could do the same.

Another fragment was found in his slow paced travels. Once again, something flickered within his mind. It wasn't familiar, just like the last. As if catching a glimpse of a moment in time. A lot of people, all f them were.... huh? It was gone. Just as quickly as it came, it had been forgotten. But from what he felt, it seemed like a happy memory.

"It was fun though!" She exclaimed, her ears twitching and she looked away from him. "Some are better than others but as long as it gets done!" She felt a giggle erupt at a shadow who had missed one. "Oh he'll get it next time, I'm sure."
She was at full attention a moment later. "Monster?" Her eyes went the size of saucers. "Is it big?" There was something to be said about her demeanor as it shifted from excited to serious in a few moments as if there was an internal struggle if that was how she was supposed to be or not.
It was like adrenaline, or so she thought and she bounced one or twice and moved closer. "Sure I'll help you out, especially to see something big like that!" She turned away, waving an arm. "Hey, anyone wanna help take down a big big monster?!" She called to anyone around. A few twitches of her ears and she didn't hear an immediate response but turned back to the other.
"I'm Mel'ae by the way, or at least that's what I think I call myself, but it works for now." A hand shot out and she grabbed his without thinking, shaking it a few good times and standing at his side. "Your the first I've talked to, I wasn't even sure if others could talk but it's great to know that others can."

"Ye...no. It was sized like...maybe an average shadow? It was a little smaller than me." Eir said.

"Oh." Her ears faltered just slightly but she shrugged. "Well a monster is a monster and if it's no good it should get taken care of. Right?" She didn't expect an answer but nodded to him. "Eir, okay." There was a matter-of-fact tone in her voice and she watched as he called to a nearby friend.
She waved with him. "Hallo!" Mel'ae called over.

The more he looked around, the more Repoem realized he was painfully, painfully less defined than anyone else within the Spires. While sticking to the sides, Repoem attempted to quietly reach out and plug a stray fragment out from the cliffside.

"Yes. I thought that I might have a better chance beating that monster with more members, so here I am recruiting. She said she'll go with me..."

"Well hi Wyng!" She said with with a wave. "I'm Mel'ae, nice to meetcha." She liked to her accent already. "Maybe with us we can take it down, right?" Really defeating it was an afterthought, she just wanted to see it first.
She bounced a little more, slightly antsy. "Can we go see it then? Hmmm?" She blinked. "Wait, you already fought it? What happened?"

The final shard drifted gently down into Yacha's hand, as though trying to be caught. She closed her hand around it and smiled. A long, wolfish howl seemed to drift past her ears, and without knowing why, she felt vaguely comforted.
"I have all five now," she said to Atictel. "I can go to the shrine now." She trotted off, glancing back once or twice to make sure her new friend was still with her.
