Meditation for attunement

Vyntyr

Attunement: 2
Vyntyr was having trouble clearing her mind. She figured that that was normal. She wasn't exactly coming down off of a deeply restful day. She'd been surprisingly active and majorly wound up for a good portion of it. So she had patience. The girl focused on her inner light and tried to lose herself in it. As she focused, she considered the possibilities of where her training would take her next. She had a firm grasp on the youngling abilities of control, and as a padawan she was meant to master the secrets of using the Force as an extra sense. She was at least not inexperienced in that respect, but that's about all that she could say.

Vyntyr did not reach a state of profound wisdom tonight. She spent most of the evening struggling to clear her mind, but something was preventing her from doing it. She sighed finally, defeated, and sagged as she sat down on her bed. She pulled the little crystal out of her belt pouch and turned it over in her hand as she lay down to sleep. She carried it with her everywhere she went now, and she had started to think of it as something of a friend. A companion that would stick along with her through anything. She figured that that sentiment would carry over once she'd constructed her first lightsaber, too.

Vyntyr wasn't aware that she'd fallen asleep, but when she woke up, her body was on fire. She felt bursts of electricity in every inch of her flesh, and if she had any breath in her lungs, she would have screamed. Instead, she focused on subduing the violent spasms. She was the master of her body, not the other way around. She would not be treated like this. But damn did it hurt. Finally, she managed to get a handle on it and gradually filled herself with enough light that she could breathe again. The attacks were becoming more and more violent, and they were coming faster and faster. She needed to bring this up to her master.

She was somewhat apprehensive about her alchaka this morning, but she managed to do it just fine, though she was a little tight, admittedly. The girl walked across the academy and buzzed for entry at Master Laro's door. Leyren smiled and welcomed Vyntyr into the room. "Good morning, Vyntyr. How are you feeling today?" She could already see that something was wrong in the girl, just by looking at her.

"Well, to be honest, I'm getting worried. I had another episode this morning, and it was even worse than the one in the council chamber... I spent my whole life like this, I don't know why it's suddenly getting worse... Especially now that I'm free to do what it is that I want to do..."Master Laro's brow furrowed. "Yes... I was afraid it was going to get worse. I'm beginning to understand what is wrong with your body, Vyntyr. I need some time to do a little research. You have a special assignment, Vyntyr. It starts today. You are to prepare for a journey into the Forests, and you will need this." The woman stood and opened the drawer to her desk. She withdrew a small bundle, wrapped in cloth, and held it out to Vyntyr.

She opened it and there sat a beautiful green gem. "A lightsaber crystal? I already have one. What is this mission?"Master Laro smiled. "This is no ordinary crystal. This is a Healing Crystal, prized by us medical Jedi as an amplifier for our own energies. This particular crystal was the crystal I had placed into my first lightsaber, and I would be honored if you would use it along with your own crystal for this task; the construction of your first lightsaber."Vyntyr was floored. "My what? You want me to build a- No. You're joking! A dual crystal saber?"

meditation for attunement (DC 10) 2 nothing 6 Force heal (DC 10) 1 Master Laro (force sense) Health: 0 Stamina: 2 Attunement: 17-2=15 force sense (power) 5 Vyntyr couldn't stop the face-splitting grin that she wore from growing even more giddily large as she handed over her training saber. She was going to construct a lightsaber! An actual lightsaber! She could cry. She could jump for joy. She could rip her hair out. What if she couldn't do it? What if she was unable to complete this essential task, this necessary step to becoming a Jedi? No. She couldn't think about that. Her master had faith in her, and she would have faith in herself. Vyntyr thanked her master for everything, especially for the crystal, and almost ran to the speederbikes, which she rented and sped away on as she moved toward the coordinates sent by Master Laro.

meditation for attunement (DC 10) 2 nothing 7 Force heal (DC 10) 1 Master Laro (force sense) Health: 0 Stamina: 2 Attunement: 13 force sense (power) 5 control 1 Vyntyr made it to the coordinates in record time, and was on location in a large clearing, with a massive structure in the center. At the top appeared to be a small temple of some sort, at the top of a large and long staircase. The base of the staircase led into a building that was styled much like the temple, and it was here that Vyntyr saw two Jedi standing guard outside the door. She dismounted her speeder and began to walk toward them. "Hi. I'm looking for Master Huyang?" Vyntyr was unsure of herself, despite the comforting knowledge that her coordinates led here. Back at the temple, Master Laro sighed and began to devour her medical textbooks and diagrams, preparing for what would come next.

They told her that they were expecting her, and that Master Huyang was waiting inside for her arrival. They stood aside and let the girl pass between them. She looked around at the bare hallway that she found herself in and continued walking, looking down the hallway and eventually coming into a large, rectangular room filled with shelves and shelves of drawers. In the center of the room stood a holoprojector and a large table covered with tools and machines for various methods of working materials. She called out "Hello? I'm looking for Master Huyang?"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Master Laro continued her research on the nature of the body and the effects of the dark side upon it.

She tried to reach out with the Force to sense the presence, but could find none. She furrowed her brow. Surely, a being who had taught and overseen lightsaber construction for thousands of years must be powerful in the force indeed. Perhaps he was simply hiding his presence. That illusion was dispelled as a droid stepped around a corner, hands behind his back. "You rang?"Vyntyr stared for a moment, slackjawed, before regaining her composure. "Umm... Yes. I am looking for Master Huyang. My name is Vyntyr." Master Laro had mentioned that he was ancient... Was this...?

A droid? But when she stopped to think about it, it made sense. A droid had the keen, analytical mind required for mechanics work, and the longevity to provide a stable learning base for centuries. In the end, she bowed low to Master Huyang and spoke "Thank you, Master. I have been sent by Master Laro to learn from you how to build my first lightsaber."

"The first step to constructing your lightsaber is the crystal, and, as I understand it, Master Laro has tasked you with the formidable task of creating a lightsaber with two crystals, is that correct?"Vyntyr nodded and produced the individually wrapped crystals, presenting them to the Master. Master Huyang held the crystals up to the light, one at a time, a magnifying glass dropping down in front of his eye as he inspected them. "Oh my! Master Laro has a considerable amount of faith in you, doesn't she? This is the very crystal that she brought me two decades ago, when she built her very first lightsaber. You should be honored, young padawan. Such a thing is not a paltry gift, it is a great honor and a powerful bond between master and student. This crystal was given to your master when she was yet a padawan, and she came shortly thereafter to me to give it life."

Master Laro had given Vyntyr the first crystal she'd ever owned... Vyntyr couldn't imagine the faith that the woman placed in her. She knew that it was a special gift, but she didn't know how to thank her master for such a thing. It was beyond her. She watched as Master Huyang held up the next crystal. "Oh my! Would you look at this lovely specimen! What a marvelous work of skill. You know, the secret to making a crystal like this is almost a lost art, and very few people in the galaxy even know how to start to do it. It takes a masterful command of the Force, and an intimate knowledge of gemology. You are incredibly lucky to have found something so unique. And, it appears that the Force has guided you to such a fitting crystal. You two are just alike, it would seem."

"Everyone keeps saying that. What does it mean? How are we the same?" She wasn't upset, just perplexed. Master Huyang would have smiled if he could have. He tilted his head. "Why, my dear girl, this gem was shattered, and, through a grueling and intricate process, put back together. It is almost a perfect repair, but it is almost impossible to get the crystal back to its former perfection. I could not help but notice your scars, child. It is fitting that you should have such a crystal when you yourself were put through much the same process."Vyntyr was handed the crystals as the droid returned to the holoprojector. She hadn't thought of it that way. She smiled softly, looking down at the scarred, deformed little crystal. They were the same. If it could be beautiful and proud in its state, she could be, too.
