Hellion thanked his mother and ate the Poffin happily, the little glutton finishing it quickly before finally being satisfied and cuddling into his mother.
Naturally, all seriousness went out the window once they entered the gym, mostly because Koras had latched onto the doorway out of terror.
Cadaver just groaned and began trying to pull Koras into the gym. "Koras, just come on in and do your gym battle already! Once you and Lilian get your badges, you won't have to come back in here ever again, I promise!"
Lt. Surge walked up to them, obviously not quite sure whether to be amused or pitying. "Exactly why's your pal there so scared of coming into the gym?"
"Electrophobe," Cadaver grunted in explanation as he kept pulling.
"Then why...?"
"The Pikachu's his girlfriend's, the black Pichu's too cute for anyone to be scared of."
"Ah. Lemme help then, and then we can get this gym battle started." With that, Surge helped Cadaver, and within a few moments Koras was in the gym.

Surge chuckled and nodded, obviously finding Koras's extreme fear of electricity amusing... probably because he didn't know the story behind it. "All right. Raichu, Voltorb, come on out!"
Of course, then an unexpected development occurred: Surge's Raichu immediately fell in love with Sweets, complete with the little hearts in its eyes. It quickly headed over to her and began trying to woo her... at least until Kitsune came out of his Pokeball and attacked, causing the two Pokemon to end up in one of those little cartoony dust-cloud fights. Koras tried to calm the two Pokemon down, only to end up getting sucked in.
Hellion watched with interest, obviously curious about the little fight and not quite understanding what Daddy and the big orange thingy were arguing about... did it have something to do with all the funny poses and things the orange thingy was saying?
Cadaver sweatdropped at their antics and firmly moved to the wall of the gym so as to stay out of the way of the chaos.

Both Raichu and Kitsune took the hint and hurried to their Trainers' respective sides.
Koras looked a little dazed at first, but soon regained his bearings and was about to pick a Pokemon when...
"Zochu! Zochu!"
...Hellion hurried onto the battlefield, cheeks sparking and obviously wanting to fight.
Surge burst into laughter at that. "Seriously, that little baby Pokemon? At least your girlfriend here chose one Raichu's electricity wouldn't decimate in a matter of seconds!"
Koras sighed in exasperation and tried to get Hellion out of there, only for Hellion to insistently stay where it was. After a moment, Koras just gave up, headed to his spot on his and Lilian's side of the battlefield, and got ready to start the battle.

Zochu cheered before zipping toward the Raichu, slamming into it in a Pursuit attack.
"Voltorb, Screech, then Rollout! Raichu, Thunderbolt the little guy!"
The two Pokemon complied, Voltorb letting out a loud screech that lowered both Sane's and Hellion's defenses before rolling toward the Cubone at high speed. Raichu quickly charged up a Thunderbolt... only to stop and blink as the Zochu suddenly vanished. "Rai...?" Suddenly Raichu felt something slam into his back and turned to meet it, only to see nothing there... shortly followed by another slamming sensation, this one impacting his head and forcing him to faceplant. Apparently Hellion was using his illusions to go invisible.

Unfortunately for Sane, he had completely forgotten three things. Firstly: Voltorb still had its momentum for Rollout. Secondly: a Voltorb is much faster than a Cubone. Thirdly: he was standing right in the rollout's path.
Voltorb slammed into Sane before it could finish the orb-like Pokemon off, slamming it against the floor and rolling in place, getting faster and faster the more time went on.
Meanwhile, Raichu soon figured out what was going on and let loose with a wide-range Thunderbolt that managed to drop Hellion's illusion. Raichu then let loose with a Mega Kick that sent Hellion flying, followed by another Thunderbolt... except Hellion actually somehow absorbed this one, sparking all over as it tried to convert all the power into its usual red electricity.

Of course, that didn't work QUITE as planned, since Raichu managed to stop its Thunderbolt in time to dodge out of the way, but it still made Voltorb crash into the wall and get knocked out.
Meanwhile, Raichu's distraction gave Hellion the time to finish absorbing the electricity... right before its eyes started glowing an eerie red and its body started glowing black. Its form shifted and changed until the black light subsided, and in the place of the little baby Pokemon from before was what appeared to be a black Pikachu. The red patterns on its tail and ears from when it was a Pichu was the same, the stripes on its back were standard Pikachu style, except in red, and it had the standard red cheek sacs and a pair of beady, dark-red eyes. "Zoru-CHU!" it shouted gleefully as it sparked with red and black lightning.
Koras blinked, then got out his Pokedex. Scanning... scanning complete. Zoruchu, the Black Mouse Pokemon. It has gained better control over its electricity than it had as a Zochu. The electricity stored in its right cheek is still red, but the lightning stored in its left cheek is now a special dark lightning that, when properly harnessed, can be ten times as effective as normal lightning and can even harm Ground-types. Angering it is not advised.
The newly evolved Zoruchu proceeded to become a black blur, slamming into Raichu with its newly learned Quick Attack, knocking the slightly larger Electric-type out and winning the duo the match.

(Note: the bit about its black lightning being able to harm Ground-types only applies to one move, and said move is not an Electric-type move.)

Surge chuckled and nodded. "All right; sorry about Raichu's behavior earlier, by the way," he offered, returning his Pokemon and handing over the Badges.
Hellion, meanwhile, quickly proved that his personality as a Zochu had transferred over to his new form by gobbling down the Poffins at a record pace. He then caught sight of the two shinies and hurried over, snatching them out of Lilian's hands and heading over to a corner of the gym to stare at them happily with little hearts in his eyes, even rubbing them against his cheek affectionately every so often.

"Chuuuuu!" A rather distressed and upset-looking Hellion chucked one badge over to the mean lady and put the other in Koras's pocket. He then sat on Cadaver's shoulder for the free ride, since he sure as hell wasn't going to even acknowledge the mean lady that had threatened the Precious.
Cadaver seemed to pick up on this and gave Lilian an amused look as they exited the Gym. "You do realize the little guy's going to be hating you and probably Gibbs for that for a good long while, right?"
