[No questions for part 4.]
[Actually, I was sure that constrict was a normal move until my girlfriend (who has played Pokemon MUCH more than I have) told me it was a grass move. Go figure sweatdrop ]
[Secondly, my Onix has always been considered to be a mute (in terms of anything outside a roar, groan or such). I was going to get to that later, but yeah. Any other Pokemon will likely be talkative, but I've always intended for the Onix character to be mute. ...That's okay, right? If not, I understand and can change it.]
Pleasantly surprised at the turn of events, Nick sighed in relief. Things were looking up. "Arthur, do your thing!"
Arthur swayed and bolted directly towards the Lileep, intending to tackle. It saw a weak spot in the way Lileep was defending itself and moved in a serpentine manner until the last moment, striking at the right side. He wondered if his trainer was event aware of the opening, or if he was just shouting out random attacks. A seed of doubt in Nick's abilities began to grow in Arthur's mind.

((I've probably been playing eeeeeveeeeen longer.))
((Anyway speaking was never the problem. The fact was, during defense, you were only posting for Nick. Your Onix was only mentioned to the extent of being shouted at.))
(15 - 2) + (7 - 8 ) = 12 DMG
Lileep HP: 3
The Onix's body slammed into the Lileep with a tremendous amount of force, nearly pulling the plant free of the floor and smashing it against the wall they were apparently quite near. The Lileep wobbled and swayed violently as it's body worked off the excess momentum left by the attack.
Suddenly the creature's entire body began to glow green. One by one, a myriad of small green bubbles would begin appearing about Arthur. This was what Nick had been worried about before...a Grass-Type attack. The Lileep's best chance out of such a tight spot, Mega Drain.
[Battle Basics - Part 5]
[Now I'll explain something very important. In this guild Pokemon can, and will die.]
[As you're well aware when a Pokemon's HP drops to 0 it will faint. In Akumu Academy however HP can drop lower then that. If your Pokemon's HP falls between 0 and -7 it will fall unconscious, only able to come to with the aid of a Revival Item or Pokemon Center.]
[However should it's HP ever fall to -8 or lower, it will DIE. There is no returning from the dead. On the other hand, there are a few rare items which can prevent a Pokemon from dying a single time.]
[Additionally Ghost-Type Pokemon cannot die. Instead they'll pretty much explode into a cloud of eerie mist until their bodies reform. Such an injury can only be recovered at a Pokemon Center.]

[I see. Yes, an internal monologue can be just as effective in term of speaking for Arthur.]
Nick's eyes widened as the attack formed. Arthur would be too big to avoid it. He had to think!
Arthur stared at the attack. A small green bubble? This was either a weak attack from a weak Pokemon or the Lileep's final try to stay in this fight.
"You're too big to avoid it! Hit the ground!" Nick called desperately.
Arthur was unsure now. The attack was already low to the ground. This trainer had no idea what he was doing, did he? Arthur didn't have the time to argue, though. This would be this fool or a trainer's final chance to show his abilities to him.
Arthur hit the ground hard with a thud and debris went all over. Ah. That made a bit of sense to the massive Pokemon now. If he was lucky, the debris may block the attack. If not, this may be the end of this bout. Arthur wondered if that was really what the trainer had planned. The doubt still lingered as he waited to see if the plan worked or backfired.

((Not quite what I was getting at, but that works too!))
(15 - 8 ) + (8 - 7) = 8 x 2 (Weakness) = 16 DMG!

Even as he hit the ground, the Onix would feel his body steadily beginning to crack and crumble. Slowly the rocky beasts eyes would begin to become milky, clouding over as the life was quite literally sucked out of him. Once the bubbles had reached a certain size they drifted together, forming into one massive sphere which descended upon the Lileep. As she absorbed the energy he vines would become more vibrant and supple.
Arthur on the other hand would cease to move. The Onix was quite dead. Nick had failed, and at a great cost...or so it first appeared.
As the final breath left Arthur's body, a blue glow would spread from the tip of his horn to the end of his tail. The Rock-Type's body would begin to shine, condense, and eventually reshape. What was left in it's place was a dark, gray coloured egg almost mistakable for a rock.
"You've failed once boy. Go to the Pokemon Center and get that hatched before returning...unless you'd rather just make an omlet!!! GWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" The voice suddenly called out, the Lileep vanishing amidst the shadows.

Arlie winced. Those claws looked wickedly sharp and they could do some damage if they made contact. There was nothing to do but try to avoid them. "Kallie, watch out!" She called.
The cat Pokemon had assessed the claws also and decided she really didn't want to know what they felt like either. She retracted her own claws, making her paws light and soft, and tried to spring away.

Nick stared in disbelief for a while before walking over and picking up Arthur's egg.
First battle. First loss.
He left the Battle Room, head hanging low, without another word.

Much later, the trainer enters the room once more, more determined and stronger in heart and mind. There will be no more errors today. He expands the pokeball in his hand and taps it with his ring twice again with a "clink clink", then throwing out Arthur.
"No more mistakes. No more regrets," he states. "We're here to win, right Arthur?"
A much smaller, decreased level Onix spirals in quick circles. He was happy to see a battle. His excitement was hitting the roof. He wondered what kind of pokemon he'd get to fight in his first battle.
Nick looks at Arthur, still not completely sure about his sudden change in personality, but shakes it off. Now was not the time.

"Back again?" The voice half snickered as a familiar blue glow occurred upon the floor. Abruptly the blue patch burst into violent flame, and from it rose a Pokemon of a quite fiery sort. Carrying none of the almost dead features of the Pokemon before it, this one was actually quite lively. Bouncing back and forth, the creature remained on all fours despite technically being a biped.
Still covered in flames, the little Pokemon looked more excited then the Onix to see a battle! Question was, how would Arthur fair against a Pansear?
Abruptly the little monkey brought a hand to one ear ">Do ya hear it?<" He asked, then immediately dropped that hand and raised the opposite to his other ear ">Do ya hear it!?<" He asked again, bouncing back and forth before thrusting his arms into the air ">That is the rumba of battle bro!<"
The Pansear quickly began pumping his arms in the air ">Oh ya baby feel the burn. Feel it! I'm on FIRE!<" He cried; his fists promptly ignited. It would seem the flaming Pokemon was doing more then just pumping himself up, but preparing to attack! Fists ablaze, the Pansear charged forward at Arthur with reckless abandon; it was time to pan sear this guy!  Pansear [M]

wild wolf king "Quick Choco get out of the way!" Jason yelled out in desperation. The attack looked like it was a very powerful one if if it wasn't dodged it wouldn't end to well. Choco saw the attack coming and realized that it was going to be a strong attack. He knew that he would definitely need to dodge this attack or at the least keep to a small graze. He struggled to dislodge his fangs from the Sandshrew's arm since his fangs were dug in deeper than before. the roll was 14 on page 26

A girl walked in with a Pokeball attached to a bracelet on her left wrist. She has a matching bracelet on her right wrist that appears to hold Pokeballs as well. The bracelets appear to hold only three Pokeballs each. She sighed, watching the battles ensue and wondering when she would get her turn. The girl crossed her arms, an unchanging scowl on her face.

Nick looked at the Pansear and seemed disappointed. He wanted another shot at the Lileep, but at this point, he wasn't going to complain. He just needed to beat the opponent in front of him.
Arthur gladly welcomed the excited pokemon into the fight. He was a bit worried about him being covered in flames, but the other pokemon didn't seem to mind, so it must be okay.
As the Pansear geared up to attack, Onix blissfully swung to the side, trying to dodge, but only within a narrow range.

The Pansear's fist connected with the side of the Onix, leaving a little paw sized scorch mark in it's wake. ">Woohoo! BLAZIN!<" The Pansear shouted, having lost none of his ecstatic cheer despite the weakness of the blow he'd delivered.
">Oh yeah! Oh yeah!<" The Fire-Type bounced back, jumping between each of his feet as he jabbed at the air around him ">Give em the ole one two! Blazin first and burnin knuckle!<" He called out, still seeming as if he spoke more to himself then his opponents. Fists up in a somewhat imitation of a Boxer's stance, the Pansear looked Arthur right in the eye ">Come on at me! Let's see if you can even damage the blazing inferno of my soul!<"
[Battle Basics - Part 6]
[Time for the last part of the lesson! Least I think it's the last part. Encounters and Missions will be covered at a later date, so this should be the last bit.]
[Now I'm going to teach you about Items.]
[First and foremost you can only use Item's during your OWN Attack turn. Secondly using an Item uses up that turn. To clarify, if you use an item, you can't attack; so choose carefully.]
[Items usable during combat are generally recovering items like Potions or berries, battle items like an X attack, Pokeballs, or certain Key Items. The latest something like a TM can be used is the very very beginning of a battle before the fighting starts.]
[Now, to Capture a Pokemon you must roll 1D20 while throwing the Pokeball. This is called a Capture Roll. You see this is because every Pokemon has a Capture Rate. Simply put the Capture Rate is the number you must roll to Capture the Pokemon.]
[Let me give an example. Say the Pokemon has a Capture Rate of 12. You need to roll a 12 or higher to successfully capture the Pokemon. Any lower and the Capture will fail, and the ball will break. You probably guessed this, but the more you weaken a Pokemon the easier it will be to capture.]
[An important thing to note is there are ways other then Battle to capture Pokemon in Akumu. Generally you'll have two types of Encounters with Pokemon, Passive & Aggressive.]
[During an Aggressive Encounter the Pokemon will either attack you out right, or challenge you to battle. There is no way to obtain these Pokemon without fighting them. You'll be forced to either Fight, or if you feel you won't survive the encounter, attempt to Flee.]
[Passive Encounter's differ. The Pokemon will not be hostile toward the Trainer, sometimes they won't even notice the trainer. This is your chance to capture it without a fight. Using either your Trainer or one of his Pokemon, you can attempt to convince the Wild Pokemon to join you of their own free will. Generally the best way is to try and appeal to their nature, or on occasion bribery.]

[Wouldn't that be (16 - 12) + (6 - 6)? Still equals 2 points lost, but I my sp-def is 6 and my regular def is 7. A fire punch would be blocked with sp-def, right?]
Arthur looked at Nick and the trainer nodded. Arthur's eagerness was bursting through every ounce of his being. He didn't just tackle the Pansear; he DOVE at it!

((Not by a long shot kiddo, not since first gen in fact; if I don't find myself mistaken. It could have been Gen II. Anyway Fire Punch is a physical attack, so when dealing damage it uses the ATK and DEF stat. SP-ATK and SP-DEF would come into play for an attack such as Flamethrower or Bubble. Nightslash or Fire Punch on the other hand are completely Physical.))

The Pansear tumbled back with the blow, rolling across the floor and landing upon the flat of his back looking toward the ceiling. ">Woah...lookit all the shiny stars...<" He muttered, sounding more then a little out of it. Pansear blinked only once, then he was abruptly upon his feet again ">OH YEAH! STAR POWER!<" He cheered, thrusting his arms into the air ">Burning like the Sun! Speeding like a Shooting Star! BLAZING LIKE A SUPER NOVA!<"
All at once the Pansear's arms ignited, feet carrying him forward as he darted for Arthur. His eyes seemed to twinkle; it would seem that one blow had only served to rev up the fire-type even more! Tail slightly curled, the Pansear leaped higher then should have been possible, swinging his arm forward at Arthur's head in one blazing Fire Punch! ">FIRE, TRANSFORM INTO RAGING DRAGON!<" He cried out as he came in for the impact. The Onix might have had a rock hard body, but it was time to see if he had a jaw made of glass!
