Hanna was reading as fast as she could, burning through page after page like a true book nerd. When Cassandra suggested they split up the sections, Hanna nodded and began walking toward her, pausing only when Scott spoke up. Amusement raced to her eyes, but she held the laughter in this time. There were things to be done, jokes aside.

Then the floor exploded, and the manual fell from her hands. Hanna was sent flying backward, narrowly avoiding the gnashing teeth of the newest enemy to invade their refuge.

In a flash, Hanna snatched her gun from Scott at her side and took a shot -- nothing. "The safety, s**t," she chided aloud, clicking it off and attempting to refocus. The other gun from Jordan sat like a heavy weight in her pocket. She would totally Tomb Raider this s**t if it became necessary.

Dropping low to one knee, Hanna winced as acid seared across her forearms. She fought to ignore the pain, centered her focus, and fired a shot. <******** bullseye. Her bandages were across the room with Petra, but Hanna was far more concerned with killing the beastie in the middle. The things pounding at the door remained a concern, but a distant one. She had to worry about the here and now, and the here and now was presently trying to eat them.

Reload.

Bix screamed. Again.

The vine monster popped out of the ground and hit him powerfully in the gut but not before the hunter had the sound mind to press his gun against it's tentacle and fire.

It didn't do much damage but it got the thing off of him! Bix stumbled to the side, breathing heavy. He felt fine. Really.

Okay. Not really.

Overall, this s**t was rather tiring. She didn't know how long they'd been at this, from the moment they'd left Deux to right this second, but the adrenaline of the entire experience had begun to drain away as she'd sat there and let Robert apply some bandages to the cut on her arm. It wasn't as bad as some -- certainly not as bad as a few of the other Phoenix members, but it had certainly begun to burn suddenly, her brain finally recognizing the pain. Even so, despite how the disinfectant made the searing sensation flare up for half a second, within a few minutes it had begun to subside thanks to the bandages, and Petra had begun to relax, suddenly tired from expending so much energy in the battle. Letting her eyes droop a little lazily, she leaned against Robert as he spoke up to the rest of the group, looking around a little at the others idly, and for a second, only a second, wondered if it was over and they could just go back for now.

Fate had other plans.

She was slow reacting as the gnashing teeth suddenly sprouted in the middle of the room from the vines, merely watching it for a good few seconds, stunned by the sudden and unexpected attack. It was only after the initial shock had faded that she scrambled to get up, pushing off of Robert's knee to try to get up, and she could feel another stabbing sensation as a vine lashed out at her leg, leaving scores of angry, bloody lines along her thigh. She stumbled at the injury, hissing in pain and almost tripping in her effort to grab her gun, and she could hear the others doing the same, the sound of packed meat and gunshots filling the enclosed area. From across the room, she saw one girl in particular get injured as she shot the monster dead on, faltering for a moment to look down at the bandages that were still clasped in her hand.

"Hanna!"

Tossing the girl back the bandages she had given her a few moments before, unused, she used the momentum to fall to her knees, scrambling with the gun to take quick aim, her shot joining the others.

Davey was far from the creature when it appeared in the middle of the room. Still standing by at the door, he swung his head behind him, eyes wide at the sight of the gaping maw now in their midst.

He might have been safe if he'd stayed where he was - but that was never Davey's style. The wounded had been gathering in the middle, furthest from the door and walls under attack from outside. Now they were the ones most at risk from the mouthy vine.

Still, he was not close by and these were close quarters. It was slow going to make his way past the others to take a shot at the creature. He swung out with his bat.

And missed.

Davey cursed loudly as some of the teeth snapped at him. It wasn't a fatal wound - just some deep scrapes along his bicep. But it was the principle of the matter. Davey did NOT like attacks hitting the one arm he had left.

He debated switching to his gun like so many others. But first he'd wait and see how the others fared. Bandaging up the wounded may end up more important.

Everything had happened so fast - suddenly the (relative) peace and quiet was utterly shattered. Madison hung back, flinging herself in front of Ennea and spreading her arms wide to protect the injured Phoenix; there were so many people charging the intruder that she couldn't see an opening for her to join in the attack. Second wave-

But there was no second wave needed, it seemed? Madison held her breath, her bandages clutched tightly in one hand. Several of the other trainees looked fairly badly burned, nearly as badly as Ennea had been - but none of them were Phoenixes, and Madison felt uneasy about just walking up to strangers and wrapping bandages around their limbs. "I, like, still have some bandages left if anyone needs help!" she called out, instead, waving the bandages over her head... and trying not to feel like a total wuss for not charging in like the rest.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 12, 2011 10:36 pm

Ennéa craned to peer over Madison's shoulder and watch everyone attack the monster that had suddenly burst up into the room. She was slightly shorter than her phoenix teammate and had to stand on her tip-toes but she still managed to see Petra shoot the creature with what looked like a killing blow. "Nice!" She called approvingly.

Ennéa then looked at Madison who still stood in front of her, arms spread wide. It was almost as if Madison had been trying to keep her from charging the monster, Ennéa realized belatedly. Well, the older hunter did do a lot of work trying to bandage her up. "Um, it's okay." she said, awkwardly, "I think it's dead?"

"Thanks Maddie." she added. Giving Madison quick backwards hug. It was was an oddly warm feeling, having so many people looking out for her.

Ennéa held up her bandage roll along with Madison. "I have bandages too if anyone needs them!" she called. Not that she really knew how to wrap bandages or do first aid beyond slapping a bandaid on simple cuts, but Ennéa was determined to help.

It was unclear why Robert's attention wasn't focused on the giant vine monstrosity that had just exploded through the floor. But there he was, with a dark glare focused steadily on the door. With every slam against it, Robert could see the dust of crumbling walls beginning to give way. The door wasn't going to hold anything at bay soon enough - because the entire place was coming down.

And that, over any weird plant monster, had his full attention right now.

He rose his hand slightly to rest on Petra's shoulder, but it fell in mid-air, making contact with no such shoulder. His head turned viciously to find Petra had already run off again, to fight. He was just in time to see the vines slash against her leg, and let out an audible groan of annoyance.

At least those few practice shots out in the field seemed to have done everyone some good - and instead of barrelling in headfirst like he was used to doing, Robert found himself ripping open his second set of bandages and wrapping them around Petra's leg before she could even realize he was there.

He heard Ennea and Maddie calling out, and despite the dreary situation, he couldn't help but smile. A friendly smirk kissed his lips, when he favored the two girls with a look.

They were going to make it through this.

"Guys." Robert piped up, standing back up onto his own two feet after he'd tied Petra's new bandages off. "Seriously. I'm not feeling this room. That wall is about to cave," He pointed at the door, even as something bashed on it that very moment. "And if I'm gonna die, I'd really like to die fighting."

It was almost a whine in his voice. He wasn't trying to be a hero, or a motivational speaker. He really just wanted to shoot something. For once.

Before listened as carefully as he could and tried to follow the series of explanations and conversations. He didn't have the time to properly digest the information when s**t STARTED GOING DOWN! xAx!!?!?!? The sudden impact of something bursting through the floor had knocked him off his feet. And as Before had no ******** clue what exactly had happened or what it was that caused the sound of splintering wood, he scrambled to his feet and brandished his weapon.

He could heard the others were firing their guns and attacking something but since no one was yelling at him to attack, nor did he feel anything or anyone grabbing that shouldn't be grabbing him, he opted to just keep still and his grip on his bat tight.

"I'm good!" he squeaked at the offer of bandages from various people. "A-are we moving or staying put?" He yelled out, in an attempt to clarify whether or not the others were going to go with Robert's suggestions. "A-and are the walls really about to cave in?!" xAx!!!!

Bix didn't look good. Not after that last attack. He was holding his ribs and it looked like he had gotten a nasty burn on his side, melting his clothes away, when the monster had thrown him into the wall.

He wanted to be a tough guy but he also didn't want to die.

"I could use some help..." He coughed.

"AH SHI-"

Before she could even finish swearing, a vine came way too close to her and she leaped back, holding up her gun with both hands in an attempt to steady her hands. When she realized that no, she couldn't possibly get a good shot in right now, she lowered her gun; she can't really shoot now, in case she ends up shooting someone in their little group. Even more so now they they had been surrounded both inside the building and outside, judging from how the walls were just threatening to give way.

Instead, when she saw that the vine had attacked Bix, she clenched her teeth and hurried over to him, grabbing Before on the way, "There's a giant vine monster thing in here. Move."

"I will not be gentle. Grow balls, deal with it," She muttered, pulling out the remaining bandages from her bag with a frown before quickly tearing his clothes off and wrapping the bandages around where he was injured. She really was not being gentle - she has no time to be gentle. The vine could attack them any moment!

Bix just nodded, trying to be a good soldier. The bandages felt a lot better even though now all he had on was a shred of one sleeve and some pants. The wound shown brightly on his pale white skin. His albinism had always made him feel slightly like an outcast but was glad that no one had yet mentioned it. Of course they hadn't had time to socialize since they'd arrived.

"I'm pretty awesome.. but ripping my clothes off?" He smiled through his pain, just slightly. "Boss gets what Boss wants."

Feeling slightly better he helped her keep up the still blinded Before. Luckily the thrashing vine was missing this corner so he clung to the wall.

"I'm good enough now." There were probably a couple other injured people who could use tending.

There were too many people screaming; it was giving Gale a headache. Standing with his back pressed against the wall of the pathetic little building (now pretty much in shambles, thanks to a giant vine, man eating plant) was the only way he was managing to keep himself upright. His leg was starting to really burn, and Gale gritted his teeth to keep from swearing, in case Ariane had another one of her "I'm older and wiser than you" moments and smacked him; or, even worse, ruffled his hair.

He suppressed a shudder and forced himself away from the wall, ignoring the pain that shrieked up and down his leg from putting pressure on it and hobbled back over to where the others were standing. A vine thwapped in front of him, and Gale sidestepped hastily, only barely missing it. Around him the room was loud, the cacophony of voices, screams, and the bloody monster making it difficult to determine just what was going on anymore.

He managed to reach Bix and Before. "Are you okay?" Gale asked, his gaze moving to the bandage wrapped around Before's face, and the ones around Bix's torso. Ariane had worked quickly.

He felt unnerved. "I don't like being stuck in here," he said, his voice low even in the loudness of the goings-on inside. Gale poked his thumb in Robert's direction. "I agree with what that guy said. We need to get out of here."

Not that he would really get very far, what with his leg being the way it was, but it would be better than just being stuck here in this building waiting to get killed.

"We could use bandages here." Bix lifted his head. There were a couple girls who asked and Gale was looking pretty bad. "I can't bend over.." to bandage Gale himself. But hopefully someone else could help.

There were no windows and the poor state of the building was starting to get to him. They probably needed to get out of here, Gale was right, but the idea of the horde outside was not any more promising than the crazy vine beast in here. At least that was just a single challenge.

"We don't have many options. Stay or go." His hands were slightly shaking, still clutching his gun like a lifeline.

Cass fell back away from the creature, frowning. Attacking the damn thing had this way of hurting her, she was discovering. Pain wasn't fun. This creature wasn't fun either. She took a few seconds to try and catch her breath. She wasn't built for this much physical activity. Her shoulders were sore from doing what should have been routine activity, her body throbbed. Her head was still a bit light from the kiss from Marcus as well.

She wasn't entirely right there in that moment.

"Dammit." she swore, having to resteel herself before she moved back into the fray.

"If everybody else wants to throw themselves outside, I'm going too." A deep breath. "But I'm not going until.." she paused, marching into the mess and grabbing Marcus. "I owe you one." she mumbled, giving him a long survey over the damage done to him, before taking out her bandages to wrap up the worse of the damage she could.

She wasn't the most skilled person with it, but dammit she was trying!

Note to self: Learn First Aid.

"If I'm not allowed to die, you're not either." she grinned before she passed through the mess towards the door, shoving the bandages and the manual back into her pack, and pulling her gun back out.

"I'm ready when everybody else is."

Ennéa turned her head at the call for bandages and quickly hobbled along the edge of the small room, trying to avoid the monster as much as she could. She herself felt a lot better since having her own wounds dressed but she still felt stiff and sore. She hoped the test didn't involve any more fighting; her left arm still ached where that previous monster had grabbed her, and running or moving faster than a hurried stumble was probably right out. Stupid monster. This was the worst test. It was even worse than algebra exams and Ennéa considered math to be one of her mortal enemies.

Ennéa blinked when she arrived at the trio who had called her. She didn't really recognize two of them though the third one was familiar. "Oh, it's you!" she cried and pointed at the pale-haired hunter whose name she still didn't know but who had rescued her once already. She probably should fix that at some point. For now though, physical injuries were more important. She looked him over from top to bottom. "Wow you got pretty banged up!" she said guilelessly.

She juggled her roll of bandages from hand to hand and bit her lip, not really sure where to start. Just wrap it around the really obvious bleeding spots? Though the poor guy looked like a mess all over, like she did, Ennéa supposed. Well, they can look like Egyptian mummies together. She giggled slightly to herself. Too bad it wasn't Halloween.

She knelt and started wrapping the other hunter's leg as that looked to be the worst spot. It was clumsy and messy but Ennéa made sure to triple knot the bandages so they would stay in place.

"There." Ennéa then stood and gave the other hunter a smile. There was still some bandage left on her roll so she turned to his companions. "Either of you guys need bandaging too?"
