But neither have you.

The words cut so far down deep when he heard them, that his exhaled breath remained just that. He couldn't inhale. His heart remembered what his mind could not, and it wielded torturous revenge by keeping him from sucking in that next breath.

Only when she paused, unable to sing that next line, would his body cooperate with him once more. A sharp breath sucked in to his greedy lungs, and he collected her into his arms as he finished it for her.

"Leave out all the rest. Forgetting all the hurt inside you've learned to hide so well." He let out a breathy chuckle. "Pretending someone else can come and save me from myself."

He pulled away, resting his mask against hers, and closed his eyes. As much as he wanted it, as easy as it would be to just stay here, curled up with her, and try to forget that they had to let go, it was waiting.

Waiting for him to be as strong as she was.

It would have to wait a very long time for a miracle like that.

"I can't be who you are."

He stopped singing, for a moment, and his voice whispered out to her alone. It didn't even sound like him, anymore.

"I'm scared, sunshine."

Where was he? What had happened? Disoriented, confused, Thor looked around the room. It was noisy, filled with people, furniture (was that a bar?). But, he had just been in a gym, in the middle of a fight for his life, for his friends, he had...

He had died...hadn't he? Oh s**t, he was dead, he knew he was dead, he -had- to be dead. But then, why was he here, in this place? Shouldn't he be in darkness, in nothingness?

Bix, Before! He looked around the room, a sigh of relief when he did not see them. Did that mean they were still alive? He could only hope so, and though he may have wished to see them (and Bee) again, he found himself hoping that he didn't. If he saw them, it meant they had died too.

"So, where are we?"

Maybe someone else knew where they were? Or where they all as lost as he was?

"Welcome to Purgatory, where we have a comfy couch and a lovely bar," Beta Seven was starting to sound very much like a broken tape recorder now, she was sure of it, but she couldn't help answering the newcomer (Theta Four) in her monotonous voice, "If you walk through that door over there, you will remember your past but you will never be able to come back. Yay."

Now that both Gamma Seven and Gamma Two had gone through the door, she felt so bored - so bored that she didn't feel like waiting anymore. Beta X was strangely quiet as well... She could only hope that this newcomer would be able to keep her entertained.

Purgatory?

"Seems rather...swank for purgatory."

His gaze shifted around the room. No myth of purgatory he had heard had -ever- been like this. It seemed almost...pleasant. But there were thoughts gnawing at the back of his mind. The open door, did he dare go through it, did he even want to remember?

"Are we sure this isn't all some sort of game or something..?"

Or a dream....

Well the couches looked real enough. An experimental touch with one hand convinced him that they were at least real enough that he decided to flop out on said couch. Pretty comfy...

"Heh, isn't it?" She patted the seat of the couch, grinning behind her mask; of course, it was getting too comfy. She needed to go soon - she could feel it... But ugh, she needed to know the status of her team. Stupid emotions leading to these worthless bonds...

"Your game has just ended. That's why your're here," She shrugged, crossing one leg over the other as she raised an eyebrow at the stranger, "Now, what's the story behind your death?" Seems like everyone here has one; she was sure he had one too. Perhaps he came from the same task as Beta X?

E8 gave a sad smile behind his mask as he watched the blur vanish amongst the darkness. He knew soon enough they would all be following that path. It was all just a matter of time and when each of them felt comfortable enough to do so.

"I believe so..." he sighed turned his gave to his lap. "Well either her or someone who really just doesn't want to live another second. They must have no one around they want to say bye to or wait around for..."

Turning his gaze back up he looked around at everyone occupying the lounge, and then watched as more people headed towards the door and vanished. He wondered if them finalizing their death would be a sign of more people to come in to the lounge.

"You know. I hate to really say it out loud and all, especially since he barely even really know each other, but...I'm really going to miss you guys. It kind of makes me sad to think once we head through that door that will be it."

[B3 entering from the This is a test Event ]

Bee...Bee wasn't sure what had happened. One second she had been in terrible pain, laying on the gym floor and Assuring Before that everything was okay and then...then she was in a bar? A bar filled with people..some of who she recognized..was that Thor laying on a couch? It looked like him and despite her confusion she gave a hopeful look around - but Bait's familiar form did not seem to be there.

Maybe he was still alive after all? She was sure she was dead...there was no way she could have survived and since Thor was hear and she knew he was dead it only seemed logical that they were in some sort of...dead person place. Unless she had blacked out and was delusional or something. "Thor?" She questioned, quietly creeping closer while shooting paranoid looks at the rest of the people in the room - which was when she noticed Beta Seven "Seven?"
PostPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 10:10 am

Now, there was a 'Seven' in every team, and when she heard someone say 'Seven', the Beta did not immediately look up; she only responded after realizing that it was directed at her, since there were no other nearby 'Sevens'. Through her gas mask, she first spotted the familiar blue armor, and then...

"Beta Three? Heh, welcome to purgatory," She made her greeting short as she gestured at the couch with a wave of her hand, "Make yourself comfortable, its not like we have much to do here... Let me guess - you died at the same place as this guy-" She pointed at the Theta Four beside her, "Because of a task?"

While she was just being herself - aka not being very warm or welcoming - she was... Almost glad to see her teammates pop up in purgatory. Sure, they're dead now, but misery loves company.

The boy followed along the best he could, letting Three lead. He tried not to get too wrapped up in it. Not too deep into the passion of dancing. Three was just adhering to his fun. Nothing more then that and he couldn't let himself think otherwise. He was pulled out of his thoughts by Zeta Four's rather appropriate song. A rather catchy one at that!

It didn't stop the immense jealousy when Zeta Four found the sudden need to dance with his partner. The mask protected the pair from his scowl but just as quickly as he'd pulled Alpha Three from him, the man was returned with grace.

Zeta Five took a moment to watch Zeta Four disappear into the unknown before looking up at Three, trying to as gracefully fall back into step. "I wish I knew...but it has all happened very naturally. Of course if you're inviting me out to dinner and wine, I wouldn't oppose. Though I suppose we'd have to be able to eat and drink, wouldn't we?

And ever so slightly, A-Three smiled beneath his mask, "Naturally for you, I would suppose...and then again, if we could drink, I would have proposed that a long time ago." It hadn't been his first instinct, but goodness...if ever there was a time to imbibe, now would have been it. Finally, as the piano music trailed, he released the other's hands, and stepped into a bit of a bow.

"It would seem that our dear Fiver has found himself a friend..." He murmured, with a nod towards Gamma-Eleven. "If we all...still intend on departing together, we had best reclaim the lost member of our little trio, for all the ridicule that we have received...." His tone went wry, "...I would like to keep our peculiar dynamic intact." The man could hardly ignore the fact that, despite his intentions quite to the contrary, a touch of loyalty had sparked between him and his minions.

Thor thought about Seven's words for a moment. How he had died, it had all been a blur yet it had seemed to last for an eternity. But it was not that that had made him pause, it was rather the sudden realization that everyone else in this room was dead, that many of them must have died in a similar manner, at the hands of each other.

"I suppose I did lose, but I'm not counting out my chances yet."

As long as the others survived, he hadn't really lost. And then...his heart sank. Was that Bee?

"Bee, what of the others, Before and Bix, are they still alive?"

Of course they were still alive, otherwise they would be here, but who was left to protect them?

"Heh, once you walk through that door, there's no turning back... For you and for all of us," Again, she gestured to the open door, with nothing but darkness beyond it; part of her wanted to leave right now. Another part of her wanted to know the fate of her teammates - this was the part she gave in to, even if it did make it seem like she lacked balls.

"Oh? You seem to call Beta Three by the nickname given by Beta Four... Was he involved in whatever task you guys were in? And Beta Six? Heh... You guys survived so long," From her tone, it was not a question nor a request - more like a demand for answers; she also sounded... Somewhat proud at that fact?

Oh yesss, Boss was back.

E-12 watched the proceedings with a growing feeling of sadness. The mood in the lounge had shifted dramatically. One moment people were singing and smashing bottles, and the next they were going through the doorway.

Walking into oblivion.

Seeing the unknown Epsilon (perhaps E-10 if E-7 was correct) run through the doorway had started a train of thought for E-12 that seemed to be inevitably leading towards taking the plunge. They couldn’t linger in the cloaked figure’s purgatory forever. Like it or not, they would each have to face the doorway and all of the consequences that came with it.

She nodded at E-8 and whispered, “It might be my time soon.”

And scared herself with that revelation.

There were so many reasons to stay. The other Epsilons most of all, especially E-3. And there had to be someone left who knew the purpose of the doorway, to guide the newly dead in their decision to step through. E-12 didn’t think she was strong enough for that job though. Not anymore.

But the number one reason to stay? E-12 was scared. She’d had the right of it, only minutes after awakening in the bright pink tent in the middle of the cornfields. There were only a few people awake and already there was a push for organization. E-12 had stated right then and there that she was no leader.

She couldn’t bear the thought of leaving her teammates, but her time in the Death Lounge was almost up.

“I don’t know about the rest of you, but I know it would make me feel better if we went through as a team.”

E7 looked at E12, nodding as she spoke, "I was thinking the same thing." He muttered softly, watching everyone else.

He chuckled, "Yes a team. We should, seems fitting to go out the way we woke up." He looked at the others wondering if they'd agree. His eyes however dropped slightly down to the floor in thought.

He looked at the door, "It's only so big though." He stretched, "We'd still have to walk in one at a time." He said almost wistfully. Looking at the group, "We should line up and the end of the line go first and work towards the door. Make it like a parade, what do you think?"

The songs in the background were sorta depressing in that odd way.

"Yes, they were both there as well. I only hope they will continue to fight, even though the odds are stacked against them."

Was that concern in his voice? They had only just met, thrown together by a twist of fate, and yet it felt like so long ago. How had he become so attached to three strangers in such a short span of time, how had they so easily found their way into his heart? Maybe he just had a soft spot for underdogs.

"Did everyone here die the same way? Are we all murderers?"

Had they all been lured into a similar game?

Having closed the distance between them Bee nodded slightly "After they got you Thor, they turned on me, I was practically dead..so I ordered my charge to let Before take her pendant and then I gave him mine as well...They had quite a few between them when I ..left" Was that even the right word? She supposed it was as good as any "Maybe enough to get them out" She hoped they did, they had to be close she knew but she couldn't recall exactly how many blues the pair had had at the end.

Glancing at Boss she nodded slightly "We spent some time checking out the Lighthouse..beat up a weird zombie person and were considering our next move when we got the text and wound up in that hell game. Before and Bix...they might still have a chance to make it to day 7, Before missed you something awful too, he was quite upset when he found you gone" She told her fellow Beta with a chuckle. This was just surreal now wasn't it? she'd died and here she was sitting in a bar..with fancy couches while Before and Bix were probably still fighting for their lives - but hey she supposed there were worse places she could have wound up when she died.
