Well it's just you don't see ANY old pokemon in the entire game until you complete it, basically.
Then, when you import your team, you loose all your items.
Not very friendly for people that already play the franchise.

Sir Duchy evolved into Grand Duke Kickass (Dewott)! Though sadly that is too long a name, so he shall remain Sir Duchy. Still pretty kickass. To the second gym! Yes I know I'm terribly slow with these games...

Hmm... Evolves into water/ground and the shiny colours are actually more comfortable to look at than the original colours of all evolutionary forms. I'd say that's a good catch.

Woooo, my new Swamper-clone!
Also, my Lillipup evolved. It reminds me of Digimon Tamers where the Digimon's skin is ripped off (but with Pokemon they're broken down into pieces) and rebuilt (Pomemon are stacked back up into their new forms) and there's a breaking glass sound not unlike the way in the movie the Digimon could easily digivolve by being encased inside a glass orb and shattering it upon their digivolution.
And here I thought Digimon was ripping Pokemon off.
