"Oh, I'm sure you've guessed a lot of what I have to say already," Gatz said calmly. "You're pretty smart, after all. I just want to confirm some of your suspicions..."
"...Don't come to depend on Syn too much," he began bluntly. "I took a decent measure of her and her 'friends' during our little play session, and found her lacking. I'd say that her primary fault is arrogance. If she's even mildly confident that something won't cause her serious harm, she'll do very little to deal with it. While confidence is all well and good, overconfidence causes a mental blind spot that a decently-skilled opponent can easily exploit to their advantage. Lots of daemons have this problem, though, so the playing field is fairly level for Syn..." Gatz gave his friend a faint smile. "... You, however, are somewhat more fragile, so be careful not to get caught in the backlash of anything aimed at her."
"Also, Syn doesn't seem to understand the importance, or the need for tatics while in a fight. She also lacks a certain awareness of the area around her. While I was pulling that disappearing act earlier, she didn't even think to look for me--she decided that it'd be better to chat with you, Rio, and that 'Dag' guy instead. Not a very sound battle plan, I'd say..."
"Finally, Syn is always going to put herself first when there's trouble. That's obvious, I suppose, but..." He shrugged helplessly at the alchemist. "... When I threw Legion 'into chaos', she basically just shut down and went into self-preservation mode. No back-up plan, nothing to keep me distracted while she recovered--she just curled herself inside of a protected cocoon of power until she got a handle on things. Again, if this had been a serious fight, she'd have been in big trouble." Gatz looked at his friend for a moment, then rolled his gaze away as he let out a deep sigh.
"--So in sum, your employer is big on power, big on arrogance, and lacking just about everywhere else. Short term, things ought to work out fine. But if Syn suggests any kind of long term campaign..." The entity paused and through his friend a grim smile. "... Well, let's just say that having an escape plan--or five--wouldn't hurt you in the long run."

Quint smiled, happy to find that Gatz at the moment was serious, telling him of a few reasons why Roan shouldn't be totally trusted. He took them into consideration, slightly embarassed his response wasn't as long.
"There's just one thing wrong with that however.." A tap of his skull summed up what he was going to say, "Roan has, and forever will, that mental link with me. I cop-out, and she could probably fry my brain without much worry. Last time that happened.." He wouldn't even finish.

"Yeah. That was great fun, wasn't it?" Gatz replied with a wicked smile, teasing his friend. It appeared that the being's brief-lived moment of sobriety had passed already. "And if I remember correctly, I still owe the 'other' Quint a date sometime in the future..."
"And when you get to be my age, you'll find that 'forever' doesn't last as long as most people would think. If the link is really such problem, I could just cut the sucker for ya," he volunteered, hold up two fingers. The nails blackened and lengthened, becoming a set of mini-Ragana Blade sissors. Gatz practiced making a 'snipping' montion before he continued.
"--Of course, with the power of the link in place and me being chaotic and everything, the backlash could mess you up pretty good as well," he told Quint, retracting the blades. "Picture a huge rubberband being cut in two, with your brain on one of the recieving ends. Not pretty."
"If you're still looking for a way out, my 'sis' might be able to do something for you," he suggested with a wink. "Anything that woman puts into that crazy 'computer' of hers her computer is practically divine law. I'm not sure she'd be able to affect a being as powerful as Syn directly, but fixing something like this should be easy enough for her."
"... Of course, Syn will probably notice that the link is gone if you still try to go with her after it's removed, and get very POed that you went behind her back... maybe." He shrugged helplessly at his friend. "I might be repeating myself here, but... 'your choice, Quint.'"

*Dagoth had watched Quint and Gatz for alittle while before hovering over. He had heard everything they said and couldnt help himself from almost falling out of the sky with laughter. HE popped a hand on Quints shoulder and looked him in the eyes, it was a cold and yet reassuring look.*
Kid you want to learn, become strong and have a whole load of fun doing it. Just keep going follow her, it will hurt and you WILL suffer but in the end you will become much stronger.
*turning to Gatz*
Please dont mistake confidence for arrogance. Just because you choose to hide doesnt mean your important enough to chase. You also have a huge amount of missinformation floating through that skull of yours. The link that Quint has, I share it too I know where he is aswell. Not as good as Roan but I could find him if i chose. From now on the only way out is death, your either usefull to use and fight or we kill you. Thats the clan way something alot of people here dont understand.
*He floated a few feet away from the two. Looking at both, still chuckling and wiping a small tear from his eye. Rayeth who was still inside his head for the moment poked Dagoth internally.*
.:Yes Marshmellow brain:. .:I miss butch you guna take me home?:. .:In a moment Im not sure if Im done here or not:.

Gatz raised an eyebrow at Dagoth's accusations, turning his head only slightly towards the hell spawn.
"... Oh, you're still here? Sorry about that--I tend to tune out people who aren't all that interesting important." After a moment of thought, he amended his comment. "--Unless they look good in a two-piece bikini, of course." With that he turned back to Quint, completely blowing off Roan's prodigy.
"Of course Syn--having at least half a brain--will expect you to try and break free of her at some point or another. That part seems rather obvious, after all. So unless she's a total control freak, chances are fairly good that she won't severely punish for just making an attempt or two. Once you secede or come close to doing so, though, you'll be in some deep trouble."

"Wait then.." Quint asked Gatz, Dagoth, and even himself, "If I follow Roan, I'm either good or dead, but if I defect, then I'm mostly dead?" He then snorted from his nose, more upset at himself for not spotting the Catch-22 from yards away. Dagoth had Quint's ambitions down, probably because he was just a part of Syn. Power and excitement were the reasons he initially walked up to Roan with an offer, but with new days, there are new ideas..
"In that case then, I think I'll take my chances with my employer.." He spoke softly, in his mind choosing the lesser of the evils. After Gatz had finished his second half of his 'risk and reward' seminar, Quint nodded, somewhat understanding what he meant. He still would counter.
"There's a flip side however.." Quint started, Dagoth's hand sporting a bit of confidence, "What if I can climb the ladder, then I wouldn't really need to 'secede', I could simply leave for a while without Roan worrying about where I am, and what I could be doing."

"Well, you wouldn't wind up 'mostly dead' if you managed to run away fast enough," Gatz said with a chuckle. "As for climbing your so-called ladder... You could say that demonic beings are always stomping on the finger of those on the rung below them while trying to toss the guy above them off the ladder at the same time." Gatz gave his friend a smirk and shrugged helplessly.
"Damned if you do, damned if you don't, seems to fit pretty well right now. Wouldn't you say so?"

*Dagoth ruffled Gatz hair and smirked.*
I like you. We should fight or ******** maybe both if your good. Quint if you survive you will have some free reign. but if roan needs you she WILL call on you untill that moment you can travel as free as a bird.
*Dagoth turned slowly on the spot his arms out at his side at 90 degrees.*
This is just a small dot, I was here for one reason to meet you. Your intresting kiddo grow and come and fight with us. It will be one hell of a show.

Rioushu looked at Dargoth as he talked to Quint and Gatz and shook his head. "Tell Roan, that if she doesn't cut the deal, I WILL be a problem for her if she messes with this island. Also, it's not so fun a show if you're in it, unless you're like me of course." Rioushu said, then turned to Quint. "Quint was it? A bit of advice from me as well, I don't know how you got into your link with a daemon, but I would suggest you cut it as soon as possible, I know I regretted not doing so as soon as I could've." Rioushu said, he didn't care what happened to Quint, but coming off as a friend to the residents of the island seemed like a good idea at this point in time.

"If I'd be damned regardless of what I do, I should at least 'do' something then, right?" Smiling Quint continued, "These demons don't scare me, I'll fight for as long, or duel as many monsters as I have to, so that I can see the top."
Rioushu acting as if they just met sorta ticked him a little, yet he would still wait for what his 'friend' had to say. "How am I supposed to get rid of something that I can't really see?"
Knowing that Gatz had already told him the answer, Quint spoke quickly, "Secondly, who said I even wanted it done? Roan's, I believe, someone who can teach me a lot, a lot more than any of you...no offense." That wasn't exactly true. Again, Gatz was the most eccentric person he had ever met, but Quint knew under that playful and perverted exterior held a wise and knowing core.
Turning to Dagoth, Quint somewhat glad that he confided in him. He wondered though, was Dag just telling him this to keep Quint's mood high? It mattered to him, but not by much.

"Hmm... well, if that's what you feel like doing, I suppose there's nothing to be done," Gatz replied with a careless shrug. "A bit of advice, though: links tend to work both ways. If you're able to 'push' the connection hard enough that it inverts itself, something interesting may happen..." The entity turned to Dagoth and grinned wickedly.
"--Which is part of the reason I haven't cut the connection Roan made with me yet. This way I can find your mother anytime I want--or simply annoy her at will." Gatz threw a wink at his friends. "Sounds like great fun, doesn't it~? Quint, I'll see if I can't 'instant message' you via Roan some time, so keep in touch, okay?"

Rioushu held his head as Gatz mentioned having one with Roan as well. "For some odd reason, I do as well. Gatz, you said you can cut these things right? I'll need you to do it as soon as possible." Rioushu said, then turned to Quint. "I don't blame you if you don't take my advice, but soon enough you'll be sharing emotions with the person on the other side, looking at that sick looking freak that just left, it won't be a fun experience." Rioushu said, then stopped, why was he trying to help the man? He loved seeing people suffer, though a lot more so when he was causing it.

((10.5 was the closest without going over. 1 stone is 14 pounds.))
Even after all that, Gatz was still looking out for Quint, which sort of surprised him. His smile fell into a smaller brighter grin as he spoke, "It sounds like a great time Gatz. I'll make sure to keep close, but with our link, I only have to worry about death putting me out of the service range."
Thinking back, Quint tried to find any parts of Roan that had emotion. He found few, and those were really moods that were easily created, those being anger and hate. "If anything Rio, I'd get a bit more lifeless with your hypothesis."
"However.." He began again, his grin fading, "I could pick up some hidden traits from different links-- Like maybe yours, or Gatz'! That would make for some really mixed up mates, eh?" Quint laughed, the last few minutes more enjoyable than the past month.

.: Dagoth. Test time over. I need you at home - we have more spots of trouble than anticipated and I cant send rookies into some of these. Besides which.. O-kuni made a move on 99. Quint alone wont be equipped to deal if I cant repress one or the otehr soon. You did your job well son... now bring me back my tools. :.
*Roan's voice echoed breifly in Dagoth's head. Just as he had said, they did share a link... and every word said here that Dagoth or Quint had heard... so had she. Amused at the general gist of it all, and internally pleased that things had gone as she had hoped - and not just with Quint sensibly making the choice to follow her - she merely delivered her orders, then pulled back, content that things were for now under control*
