Manic Martini Just curious: Why so much anti-FE9 Jill going around? It's not like she's the best out there, but I've always thought she was legit. Pretty good availability, Mist's best support option (and vice-versa), and good growths. It's not that she isn't a bad unit it's more of the fact that I find all the other riders/lords to be better than her. Unfortunately, I haven't played some of the games so it's kind of bias.

Had to think about this one.
Best: Wind Magic, a lightweight trolly book of air that pretty much guarantees double attacks and 2x DMG to fliers, hellz yeah! (extra love in FE 1,3 and 11 for early Excalibur spammage and FE4 and 5 for Holsety trolling.)
Worst: Dark Magic, basically a "magical axe" on a squishy magic user that shoots his (see: Salem) Avd to pretty much 0 and is heavyweight so no double attacks, ouch. At least Axe users can take SOME hits. Also, not to mention, axes get special weapons (Brave Axe, Pugi for Othlin, Hauteclere for FE11'ers out there) and Dark Tomes get... Fenrir, which can only be used at A rank which sort of makes a good chunk of dark magic pointless until you can actually use it.

Best: Anima (Wind specifically if we're looking at the anima trinity, but I'm assuming Anima is just Anima)
Versatile, constant 1-2 range. Light weight, moderately powerful, and pleasantly cheap. Super fierce. And it targets the lower defensive stat for most enemies.
Worst: Bows
Not being able to counter at 1-range is the worst, hands down, IMO. Every other weapon type has something that can do 1-2 range, and being just 1 range is better than being just 2 range, especially on the Enemy Phase.
Axes are probably going to take worst, but they shouldn't. People claim not to like it's accuracy, but it's 5 points less accurate than lances. That's quite negligible. Just use axe units with the Skill to make it work. Don't be hating on the axes just because of the users. Just Sayin'! My opinion, of course.
@Maji: Luna & Nosferatu. It's your vote and opinion, but you're totally ignoring any innovations to Dark Magic after the SNES generation.

Nomad Rath I don't think Valter counts. He's not so much a playable unit throughout the entire game as much as he is an unlockable unit for after the game. Also, WTF man, Valter is like the only character that actually made the game good. His character wasn't in question (although I must say he was pretty much another Narshen/bloodthirsty bad guy stereotype). I was referring to his easily being killed in the one chapter you fight him in. All that buildup about the tyrant-like Moon Stone Valter and he's not even the only boss of that chapter, nor does he provide any challenge whatsoever. Now for Weapon types: Best: Anima. Yes, I like my Excalibur/wind spells as well. Worst: Light. I've never really seen much use in the Light class -the spells pale in comparison to Anima and usually i'll only use Light when I have a Bishop (or if my Valkryie has maxed Anima and Staves i'll use it with her).

Best: Anima. Best weapon to use for both close and far-ranged weapons. Quite powerful than the Light magic. In addition, I also feel that dark magic sortta feel slow... sweatdrop
Worst: Slim weapons (Yes, I'm very aware you want me to say weapons such as axes, lances, and such stuffs. However, saying what sort of branding such as iron, critical, and such is the same as Weapon Type.) Despite how light weight they are, they aren't that powerful enough to damage the enemy, even if your unit is quite powerful.

-headdesk- So I didn't make myself clear enough. I said ALL weapons not just magic. Also Slim is not a weapon type nor is it what I'm looking for and you even stated that Isadora.

I did consider all weapons...and I feel like at least a few others did as well. In fact, someone said bows as the worst.

Perhaps this was misleading, then. It just so happened that your best and worst were both Magic weapons, but you said 'Magic types' rather than Weapon types. So Mel probably just wanted to make sure you knew it wasn't limited to Magic type weapons.

Darn you Mel. I like a couple weapon types, and there are those that I don't use. Curses, this is a tough one for me
Best: Swords, with honorable mention to anima magic, more specifically wind. With swords, you tend to be balanced between power and accuracy. You can manage to deal out enough damage to weaken, or even kill if you need to. Plus, I tend to use swords more often than any other weapon type of the physical kind.
Worst: Axes. Of all the weapons you can use, I find these to be the ones I avoid more often than usual. For one, they have one major hindrance to their group: The devil axe. On one hand, powerful and could come in handy, but it has a drawback to it. You have a chance to damage yourself, which could lead to your defeat. Aside from the Devil Axe, here is why I don't like them. They tend to be inaccurate for me. Sure, raising skill is I need for that. They are powerful, but heavy. Swords are light, and decently powered.

Worst: As much as I use them, I'm going to say bows, mainly because of the lack of 1-range option, thus resulting in a huge disadvantage for Archers and Snipers.

Too bad they weren't available in the SFC versions, thus making dark magic at the time, the worst. Granted, they DID improve later on, they didn't back then which leads me to say Dark Magic is the worst IMO. And regarding me ignoring anything past the SFC versions: that's mainly due to those three titles being the only titles I play these days. Even so, those are what makes me call myself a hardcore, diehard FE fan.
