Good to see you again, Gwyn.
It's strange to see people in here I've known for a while, with different colors/styles of hair. I use the avitar so often to tell who is posting, I have to think a bit when I see a different "face" with the name.

I have a problem...any advice:
Okay...job interview today. I have to get a teaching position by Sept. 14th in order to continue with my masters.
Job interview seemed to go very well, and then a problem popped up...Mom and I had planned a vacation, a cruise. We bought tickets WAY back in November of last year, non-refundable. It leaves the 8th. Which would be the first day of work if I get this job. ANY other school district in the STATE starts after the 13th (day we get back). So I'm going to call tomorrow and see if there's ANYTHING that can be done, but that would still leave me missing the first few days when students are there...which isn't good.
There are other possibilities, but they have a hiring freeze until August 1. *eeep!

I guess it comes down to how badly you need the job. If it's just something to do for extra spending money. I'd go on the cruse. You can always get a job when you get back. If it's a job becasue you really need the money to pay for books, school, bills etc. then you should take the job and try and get the time off work for the cruse. The first few days of school, can always be made up.

If I don't get a job teaching by Sept. 14, then the 9 hours I've taken go *poof* as far as counting towards my masters, and I loose my possible certification. I don't have another job, I've got an apartment, two cats, two birds, a snake, some fish, and a mouse. And the first days of school are THE most important for a new teacher. That's when it is decided if she'll be able to control the class for the REST OF THE YEAR. It's when she sets up all the rules and proceedures. I've decided to give up the cruise, pay mom back the 400 she can't get back from it, and take the job. I just REALLY feel bad, because mom wanted this time with me, and it was her present to me for my graduation, and she can only get half the money back. sad

But I know your mother understands. How could she not? I wish you the best of luck with your teaching. My husband is also a school teacher. He teaches high school grades 10-11-and 12 plus some adult classes.
