Emerson Valentine
When he saw Lynna double over a little, Emerson double-timed his steps and caught up to her. He relaxed a little when he saw she was only cold, instead of hurt, like he originally entertained that she might be. Wonder where her blazer is?
"Hey, Liana; back so soon? I would've thought that you'd've just stayed the night with them."
He shrugged off his suit's jacket, and passed it over to her, with a small smile. Least I can do, after that kiss.
"Here, I don't need this; I'm half-russian. The cold doesn't bother me."

Liana Mierlia
Lia couldn't help but jump when she heard Emerson. She didn't expect it and looked at him a little shocked but calmed down when she saw it was him. She shrugged her shoulders to him. "Yeah well my father only wanted to talk to me to tell me him and step mother were going leaving on a business trip for a week" she said "Apparently that is why they called me and they had to drag me all the way back to the house for that"
Her eyes looked at his coat and then to him, she was cold and his jacket looked very warm and inviting "Thank you" she said grabbing it putting it on as she shivered a little bit. "I'm surprised your back too with your emergency and all" she stated.

"Why didn't they just call you? Or text?"
Emerson had put the incident involving Liana and her phone in the restaurant out of his mind already; he'd been thinking on a much higher level then his mere Holmes-like powers of observation. He shrugged at his companion's questions.
"That? My drug blew it out of proportions; he got lost in his equations in a few places, so that the catalysts did not work close to how they were supposed to. Which is bad, because they were the lynch pin to the entire operation."
As to what the "operation" was, well, Emerson didn't want to reveal that just yet; it was so close to being marketable, he was becoming almost paranoid over people stealing the idea and profiting off of it themselves, rather then him.

She smiled and shook her head "They did try to call and I didn't answer" she told him. Lia knew he was going to ask why she wouldn't answer their call so she just said it. "My new annoying step mother was texting me and calling me on my phone which is one of the reasons I didn't answer because she's well" she paused for a second "Annoying" she ended.
"Plus" she added "I figured it was something along the lines of them telling me they were leaving" she shrugged.
Walking closer to the dorms she breathed out as she hugged the coat closer to her. "Your problem that you had to leave for sounds....different" Lia says and chuckles. "So were you heading to the girls dorm on purpose or just happen to be on your way over to somewhere else?" she asked.

"On purpose. I need to check in on Amelia; see if she came back yet, or not. That, and she has our monthly stash."
The last was added with somewhat of sheepish laugh. While drugs were common on Steering's campus, Emerson could never tell how newcomers would react to Steering's unofficial motto of "if you can't suck it, snort it." And he'd have to be doubly careful around Liana, her being a Yank and all. They act queer about the oddest things. Better just to steer clear of it all, until Liana flies her true colors. Emerson shoved his hands deep into his trouser's pockets, keeping them out of the cold.
"Step mother, eh? What's the story about that?"

Liana Mierlia
She looked a little confused and interested when he told her Amelia had their monthly stash. The confused part was there could be a lot of things that could be stash so she didn't want to blurt out the first thing that came to her mind which was drugs. Liana wasn't a drug addict and she was pretty clean with that stuff but that didn't mean she hasn't tried any back in America. It was the same thoughts after her mother died 'I'll try anything once' and if she liked it she would do it again.
"Huh" she said for her answer on that part not giving any clue that she did or did not know what he was talking about.
When he asked about her step mother she looked away and sighed "Long story short, mother died we coped and then father found women he was attracted to, some he stayed with for a good while but I think now his taste in women are just awful. One hated my guts and this one is annoying and tries to be hip" she shook her head. "and she is a money sucker spending god awful amounts on money on things that are stupid and she doesn't need at all"

Emerson correctly guessed at what Liana's "huh," signified. Not a drug user, then. Or at least, not familiar with the terms. Pity. He idly wondered how long it would take for her to get hooked on this drug, or that narcotic. Mental note: should start a betting pool with Amelia. Results will be interesting, regardless of winner. It never crossed Emerson's mind that Liana might not get hooked, or even try the drugs, that the Yanks prudish nature would innately win the day.
"Your mother died? I'm sorry to hear that. Was it natural, or was there a tragic accident?..."
Of course, Emerson being Emerson completely missed the point of the story and stayed hooked on the singular aspect. What else is money for, expect spending on things you don't need? That's dumb, to dislike her for something so trivial as that.

Her eyes glanced over at him when he asked this. She looked away before she spoke "It was tragic" she said but her voice sounded plain with no emotion in it "She was shot in a jewelery store. She was buying me my first real necklace, it was simple with just two diamonds and in the middle was my birthstone" she added "The robbers came in after she put it on me and well started chaos. They shot my mother right in front of me because she was in the way and they took the jewlery she was wearing while she laid there in cold blood and ripped the necklace right off my neck" Lia said.
Lia looked at him "Talking about it is definetly a mood killer" she told him and then she shrugged "The robbers were caught of course because they were stupid and we got everything they stole back to us like we really wanted it after that" she said shaking her head she wasn't wearing the necklace her mother gave her but of course she did have it, but now it was kept in a jeweler box that was her mothers and had the jewelery in it her mother wore that day.
"You don't need to feel sorry for me, it was over nine years ago so I'm over it" Lia said their was a bit of sadness in her eyes but she blinked and it was gone "And I don't need anyone judging me for what I think about my father's previous wife or this one because it's just plain and simple that I don't trust them" she said shrugging her shoulders and looking away from him more because she was definetly hiding facts on why she didn't trust thm.

"Hey, I'll drop it. No need to get to be so testy. I thought that that kiss of yours meant we'd made some kind of connection, no matter how strange."
Emerson didn't believe a word of that melarky pouring from his honeyed tongue, but he'd found most girls did. At least to the extent that would require them being nude, in his bed. What does she care what I think of her and her opinions on her father's trysts? What I think or do won't impact her actions or beliefs any, in the slightest. But he kept his private rant just that: private. Instead, what came out was:
"It's too cold to feel sorry for anyone. You skirts always walk six times slower in heels over eight centimeters then you do in heels under eight centimeters or flats; I timed it with my sister once. Are you an only child, Yank?"
He didn't comment on Lia's strange body language, figuring that if she wanted him to see it, she would've done it less covertly. Luckily, they were nearly to the Girls Dormitory; Emerson could see lights on in various rooms, as well as in the common room on the ground floor. Their merry lights promised warmth, and relief from the odd gusts of wind that cut through his dress shirt. Em didn't mind the cold, but it was the wind that killed him. Damn air.

Her eyebrow arched up and Lia looked at him with a surprised look "Connection?" she questioned and then she grinned "I was just thanking you for a nice night, I hope you don't become all clinging and hoping for some kind of deep relationship with me" she said. She squints her eyes a little almost as if she was studying him "You struck me more as a no strings attached kind of guy, maybe I was a little off on that one" she shrugged her shoulders a little bit.
Turning back Lia saw they getting closer to the girl's dorm which she was glad about because even with the jacket she was still a bit cold because of the wind. "Yes I am an only child" she started "Why do you ask?"

"You had too much tongue, for just being a 'thank you' kiss."
Emerson laughed lightly. This girl will take some work. I wonder if she even plays for the same team as I do, or if it's the fairer sex she desires. He'd have to keep her away from Amelia, if that was the case; he did not like the thought of anyone tumbling into bed with his twin, with a singular, notable exception.
"You find that siblings are an interesting topic of discussion, when you're twins."
He couldn't imagine living without Amelia, not just at the same school or the same house, but if she didn't exist at all, if he was just a singular person. It was a scary thought, not to have a physical representation of his other half. When they finally reached the girl's dorm, Emerson held the door open for Liana, and followed her in; he smiled quietly, letting the warmth seep into the marrow of his bones.
"Any cousins you frequent?"

Liana
She looked at him with a genuine smile on her face when he talked about his twin Amelia. They seem so close and their connection with each other made her smile that they had each other. "It must be great having a twin" she said to him 'You're never alone' she thought to herself. "You guys seem very close" she noted with a nod.
Walking into the dorm she sighed out when the heat touched her body. Liana walked a little bit but stopped not knowing where his sisters room was and she didn't want to be going out of the way "I don't really have any relatives that I'm close to. Me and my dad used to have a good relationship but now-'" she paused "He's busy" Lia shrugged her shoulders like it was no big deal.
"I think the person that I'm closest to now is my dog einstein" she said her smiled turned actually sheepish and she looked suddenly embarassed which never happens as her cheeks turned a little red "That's kind of pathetic isn't it?" she asked looking up into his eyes.

"She's my most favorite person in the world, my other half."
Emerson smiled softly at the memories from his youth flowing through his mind with just the mention of his sister. He didn't linger long in nostalgia, however, because Liana continued to speak. He smiled again, when Liana mentioned her dog.
"Not really; there are worse companions you could've chosen. Back home, in Russia, dogs are revered. Amelia and I have a small pack of hounds, on the estate. "
A small lie; in reality, the "hounds" were actually wolves, raised from cubs by the twins. They'd found them in the snow one day, when they were out riding, nursing off of their dead mother. They were completely devoted to their new owners. And if Emerson and Amelia had a few scars to prove that the wolves were theirs, well, then so be it; they wore them as badges of honor. Emerson paused by the stair case, unsure where Liana was heading.
"Cute name, though. What's your room number?"
He thought she looked simply adorable with the gentle blush staining her cheeks. Emerson had to resist the urge to kiss her again. She wasn't that bad of a kisser.

Liana looked at the stairs and then back at him "My room number is 210" she says to him. She was a bit curious as to where Amelia room was but wasn't that curious as to follow him to her room.
She took a step on standing beside him still looking at him "I would say you can come to my room if you wanted to talk more but I know you have more important matters to atten to" she let the smirk fall on her lips as she looked amused by the thought of what he was doing. "But I guess now you know where my room is, just promise not to stalk me" she joked letting out a small laugh as she moved up walking up more of the steps.

"Bummer. Amelia's room is one-ninety-three."
Meaning, that it was downstairs, and that Liana's was on the first floor. No more excuse to follow her everywhere. A sudden thought hit Emerson, and he smiled gently.
"No stalking, I promise. Say, if you've got the time, come with me. We don't mind sharing, if you don't. And besides, what do you have to do right now? You haven't started classes, and at Steering, they unpack your s**t for you. Come on, it'll be fun. And who knows, maybe Amelia's roommate will be out?"
He winked, like there was a kind of joke in his words. Emerson glanced around, not quite fidgeting yet, but definitely feeling uncomfortable internally, just standing around out here in the open. He and the floor matron did not get along well. Something about repeated infractions concerning his twin's room. More then once, he'd been caught "red handed," scrambling into Amelia's room after hours.
