Dimitri smiled, as Maria approached. 'be polite Dimitri...' he thought. "A pleasure to meet you as well fair lady." he said with a flourish, accented by a playful grin. He straightened up, really wishing that Kedrck and Arielle's friend would just leave them to dance. "no worries," Dimitri said to Maria. "I'll take care of her."
Kedrick watched the goings-on between Maria and Dimitri, this wasn't going the way he had planed, it seemed they needed a push in the right direction. "hey Dimitri," Kedrick said thoughtfully as though he had just come to a great realization. "do you two want to dance?" he asked, motioning between him and Maria. Dimitri falter. "uhhh..Kedrick i...." Kedrick looked pleadingly over at Maria.

Now it was Arielle's turn to watch the going ons of her best friend and Dimitri. Dimitri seemed, well, distracted. Like he didn't want Maria to be there. But Maria hated to be ignored. Arielle watched in shock as Maria grabbed Dimitri free from her and stared at him with her famous puppy dog face, "Are you honestly going to give a girl like me the cold shoulder. You still have all evening to dance with this little senorita here, no need to keep her to herself."
Arielle only shook her head slightly and looked at Dimitri, "I promise it won't be too bad. Just a few dances with Maria, please? I promise I'll save you a few dances to make up for it, okay?"

Dimtri looked slightly shell-shocked when Maria yanked him away. He wasn't used to being pushed around by a girl, normally he was the one doing the pushing. 'how bad can it be, Arielle said she'd save a couple dances for me, so I might as well humor the girl.' he thought, catching Maria's gaze. He smiled at her smoothly. "okay," he said, taking her hands and whisking her off deeper into the gym. He may be reluctant about leaving Arielle, but Dimitri knew how to make a girls evening. As Arielle had thought, Dimitri could be very sweet and charming sometimes, when he chose to be that is. "so..." he said, spinning her briefly before drawing her back in. "you and Arielle have been friends for a long time huh?" he asked, the Technicolor lights from the ceiling reflecting difference hues of greens, reds and blues on his pale complexion.
Kedrick watched the two of them go, remembering briefly what Maria had said only a moment or two ago, 'But you never know how her feelings might change during the evening.' He shook his head slightly, "I can only hope that happens to those two." he mumbled under his breath, watching at the two where swept up in the sea of moving bodies. Kedrick quickly redirected his attention to Arielle. "Dance?" he asked, extending a hand to her.

"See you when I'm done Arielle," Maria called out to her sweetly before following behind Dimitri. Now Kedrick had time to fess up and tell Arielle his true feelings before the night was over. And if he couldn't, well, Maria tried not thinking about it. She shook her head after being spun by Dimitri. "Yeah. Since grade school. I'm like a sister to her. But she's actually more mature than me... Wait... Are you trying to learn about Ari from me?"
Arielle could only wonder what would happen between those two. She had been spacing out when Kedrick had asked to dance with her again. Her heart raced and she took his hand, surprised at the fact that her cheeks were growing. She looked up at him and smiled, "That would be wonderful."
((Yeah... Late night for me. Working on a Chem lab. = w =.))

Dimtri blinked, slightly shocked that she had caught on that quickly. Dimitri was a good liar but his instincts told him not to lie to a girl, and a very pretty girl at that. "No, of course not," he replied evenly, also his response had come slightly too late for it to be the truth. Dimitri realized this a second later. He sighed, mentally admitting defeat. "Well...you can't blame me....can you?" he asked.
Kedrick smiled and started dancing with her. Kedrick was a pretty good dancer, but sometimes he would trip up, or catch Arielle's foot. His clumsiness was sort of cute. Kedrick smiled awkwardly in apology after catching her toes under his. "sorry, I don't do this often, I mean..dance..." he apologized.

"No need to apologize," Arielle said with a grin. It was a lot of fun dancing with him again, even if he made small mistakes. The only thing that mattered was that she was having fun. Eventually, the song began to slow down until it was a slow dance song. Arielle stopped and looked around, noticing the song that was playing. She smiled shyly at Kedrick, her cheeks growing warm. "Y-Y-You know how to do a slow dance?"
"Not really," Maria said with a small shrug of her shoulders, "It's apparent from the way you look at her. You also seemed like you didn't want to leave her side." She also noticed that the music had gotten slower and glanced at her friend and Kedrick from the corner of her eye. Those two really are adorable together.

Kedrick smiled,"actually, yeah, I'm better at that then any other kind of dancing..." He took her left hand and twirled her slowly, a smile touching the corners of his lips, this was the moment he had been so eager for. The volume of the chatter and laughter in the gym decreased significantly as the slow-dance started. It was much easier now to think about her, the two of them.
Dimitri slowed down the pace of his dancing, swaying from side to side for a moment till he got the rhythm of the song. He offered Maria he hand as he spoke."I guess you're right," he said, his gaze following hers over to Arielle and Kedrick. "I really do like her, she's so different from anyone I've met before...I want to impress her....But I feel sort of like the distant lover who can only stand and watch...as someone else takes her away...." He said, his gaze dropping to the ground.

Maria took Dimitri's hand and followed him in the slow dance. The song was actually really beautiful. She listened to what Dimitri said and felt herself frown. She knew that Kedrick liked Arielle and that Dimitri liked her as well. She didn't know what to say and she was definitely not going to tell him that his best friend was in love with her best friend. She sighed and gave him a small smile, "Don't get discouraged about it Dimitri. Arielle really is a great girl, I've know her all my life. And, even if she's with someone else, don't forget that there are always more fish in the sea. Besides, maybe knowing Arielle may change something in you."
"That's good," Arielle said with a soft smile as she danced with Kedrick. Now this moment of her night was what she had been waiting for. Her excitement had finally reached it's point. She looked at him, feeling happier then she had that entire day. And at the same time, she was curious about what Kedrick would have said had they not been interrupted by Dimitri. Why not ask him, she thought before asking, "So, what were you going to tell me Kedrick? You know, before Dimitri came." I hope he's going to say what I want him to say.

Dimitri frowned, looked slightly disgusted. "I don't want a fish..." he mumbled sulkily, although he had also grasped what she had been trying to say. 'And there's so much wrong with me already...' He thought to himself 'I certainly hope she can change me...'
Kedrick drew in a deep breath, he hadn't expected her to asked, He heart rate quickened as he thought about how in the world he was supposed to ease into something like this. "Arielle I..I mean..." he paused with a frowned, trying to collect his thoughts, before finally deciding just to go for it. "Arielle I've been wanting to tell this to you for a long time, and I'm going to say it now before I chicken out again...I ...I love you.." he said softly, his gaze meeting hers for a moment.

Arielle couldn't breathe. Her heart had raced completely and then felt like it ceased to stop. Her cheeks grew hot and she wasn't sure whether to hug him from happiness or just stare at him like an idiot. After some time, she felt herself smile and she looked back at Kedrick. "R-R-Really, Kedrick?"
Maria only giggled and shook her head at Dimitri's response. "No need for you to frown, Dimitri. Try and have a good time. Okay?"

Dimitri looked back up at Maria, a slight smile touching the corner of his lips at the sound of her laugh. He may not have been serious about a majority of the girls he had dated, but one sound he could never resist was that of a girls laughter " 'kay," he said with a smiled.
Kedrick anxiously waited for Arielle, watching the move of every muscle in her face, trying to determine what she was feeling before she told him. "really, I man..yes, of course I do.." he said, smiling at her. he then dropped his gaze to the ground, a hint of a blush touching his cheeks. "do..Do I have your permission..to kiss you?" he asked uncertainly.

"Now that's a better sight to see," Maria said with a satisfied grin, "Smiles always look better on people. Light's up their entire face. Like a Christmas tree. Well, not exactly like that, but still."
Arielle knew she was celebrating in her head. So it was true, he loved her. That was the best thing she heard all night. She wanted to let the whole world know, but what would be the point. When he asked if he could kiss her, she felt her cheeks grow hot but she gave him a teasing smile. "As long as I don't have to charge for sexual harassment. I'm just kidding. I would...I would actually love that."

Kedrick lifted hi gaze from the floor, since it had been a slow dance, they where very close already. Kedrick leaned in slowly, his lips touching hers, then he did it, Kedrick kissed her gently. He reached up, taking a loose lock of her hair between his fingers, then letting it slide though to fall back against her shoulder. He could feel his heart-rate slowly decreasing as he became more comfortable, and not so jittery.
Dimitri shook his head with a smile and opened his mouth to say something when He saw Kedrick and Arielle out of the corner of his eye. He felt a cold splash of jealousy as he turned to get a clearer view of them. "I'll be right back..." he mumbled, slowly working towards them.

Maria waited for him to respond but felt like something was up when he excused himself from their dance. She stood their and turned to watch him when she saw that Kedrick had kissed Arielle. She could only assume that he had told her his feelings, but she was always feeling somewhat worried. If Dimitri really liked Arielle, seeing his best friend kiss her was going to cause problems. And she knew that Arielle was going to have a mental breakdown if things got bad.
The moment Kedrick's lips touched hers, Arielle felt complete joy. Her heart felt like it was going to burst, but even if she did, she knew she would probably die as a happy person. Yay...

After a moment Kedrick slowly pulled back, as though unwilling to let her go. He smiled at her, his hand still resting on her arm. His lips wanted to form words, but thought he would probably end up saying something stupid like '...wow...' which was not the best thing to say after kissing a girl you liked.
Dimitri pushed his way though the sea of moving bodies, every simultaneously swaying side to side with the music, unintentionally forming a moving wall between Dimitri and the couple. " 'scuse me." he mumbled distractedly, pushing between an irritated couple and forced his way over to Kedrick and Arielle. "I need to talk to you." he said, grabbing his friend's arm and pulling him away from Arielle. "wh_ what?" Kedrick asked. "Dimitri what's going on?" he said as Dimitri pushed him into an unoccupied corner of the room. "you said there was nothing going on." he said in a accusing tone. Kedrick blinked in surmise. "there wasn't...then...." he said, diverting his eyes. "and there is now?" Dimitri demanded, taking a step towards him. Kedrick reached out, stopping him at arms length, Dimitri had a tendency to totally disregard any personal space when he was upset. "listen Dimitri," he said seriously. "there's no use being upset over something like this, it's Arielle's chose..." he said, trying to smiled, he didn't want to fight with Dimitri, he really didn't. "Time will tell." he assured him, Dimitri granted him a dark look. Kedrick smiled and pulled his grouchy friend into a hug. "I don't like you." Dimitri mumbled sulkily. "yes you do." Kedrick countered, " now come on." he said, pulling back, Dimitri sighed, "time will tell huh?" he asked, glancing at Kedrick. "let's hope, now go on, Cinderella is waiting for you," he said, shoving Kedrick gently. "go make her happy." Kedrick nodded and weaved his way back though the crowd to Arielle.
