Taking the potion from Lee Shiro looked at it hesitantly, not wanting to take it at first. Injured as he was, his first concern was that of his team mate and would have preferred she take it instead. But seeing as she was focusing on the monster now he decided to go ahead and use it on himself, not wanting to insult her kindness by turning down her offer. His hands were shaking a bit but he managed to open the bottle as he coughed out whatever blood had gathered in his mouth, downing the bottle in a few big messy gulps. Instantly he started to feel some strength return to him as the bleeding slowed, his wound starting to heal. He tossed the bottle aside and made a weird face as he shook his head, getting back to his feet. "Medicine always tastes funny." Looking at Lee as she spoke to him he simply grinned. "Yeah, a little close but it was sure fun. I wish you'd taken the potion instead of me you know." He said with a chuckle as he unraveled the bandages around his hands, using one of them to bandage his wound as best he could. Not the best patch job in the world but it would do for now. "Thanks though." Looking at the downed beast he smiled as he made his way over to Lee, either unaffected by the pain coming from his cut or just ignoring it really well. "Nice job finishing it off under pressure. Have a seat and take a breather so we can get a look at that leg. Hope it's not too bad." He said plainly as he held out his other arm wrap.

"Thanks, I had a bit of practice fighting under pressure. But I came here to refine my skills and learn more." She then rolled up her pants to look at her leg better, and gave a big sigh when she saw the damage. "Oh well." Lee said simply, she couldn't reverse what happened. If this was a real fight, instead of just practice, there wouldn't be time to do stuff like this. She thought sourly. But she still plopped down on the ground and took a much needed breather. "I don't think it's too bad. Probably just a superfical wound." she told Shiro. She then checked over her knives and bow, making sure they were holding up.

"Looks like it, but we should wrap it up anyway." Shiro said lightly as he dropped back onto the ground a little hard, taking his water bottle and pouring the water over Lee's wound to clean it a bit before he wrapped it with his bandage. "If I had been more focused you wouldn't have had to waste your potion on me. But what is past is past, I shall tighten my focus more so I can be a better partner next time." Scooting back a bit Shiro lay down in the frosty ground arms crossed behind his head grinning. "Still, I think we made a pretty good team don't you?"

"I guess." Lee said crossing her arms over her knees. "I'm not really used to the whole partner thing. I kinda had to rely on myself most of the time." she studied the snowflakes fall to the ground. They looked like white ashes. Like the ashes that fell from the sky that night, the ones that blocked out the sun and her heart from then on. She might not know much about monsters or weapons, but Lee felt as if she had enough experience with war-time tradgedies. "Hey Shiro, where were you before the garden?" Lee asked, breaking herself from the trance inducing dance of the snow.

"Hmm?" Shiro tried to look up at Lee but the wound in his side didn't let him sit up so easily. After a few failed attempts Shiro simply laughed a bit as he rolled over to his good side and spun around until he was facing Lee. "Hmm we let's see. Before joining the Garden I lived with my father in the forests outside of Timber." Thinking about that for a moment Shiro chuckled and continued. "Heh heh, guess that makes it sound kinda dramatic, like we were mountain folk or something. We lived only a few minuets away from the city, and pops worked as a train engineer so it's not like we were totally isolated or anything like that. I did all the wood chopping and hunting and stuff so pops let me just work out and do what I wanted all day as long as I did the stuff I needed to do. It was a pretty good, but pops wanted me to go to the garden to try and get even stronger, and to be honest I wanted to get out and see more of the world so I joined. Why?"

"Not any particular reason. Just, well look at everyone. We all have our own story and came to Garden for our own goals. Maybe even came searching for something." She ran her hand along the stripe of pearly white on her pants. Most of her clothes carried one or more of the colors of her forsaken homeland; full-moon white, night sky blue, new-moon black, and starlight silver. Not too mention the makeshift flag she hung outside her window. One person was all she asked for, just one lonely soul. Just one other person so that she wouldn't go down as the last of her kind, so that she could have someone to talk to, someone to understand what she went through. "I came to Garden because I had no where else to go." she said, suprised at herself for opening up to some stranger. "And then after a while, I decided to stay. I was learning a lot, and meeting a lot of people."

Shiro's smile grew a little smaller as the conversation got more serious, but it never faded completely. "Sounds like you come from rough times. I can't pretend to know what you've gone through, I wouldn't even try out of respect for your ordeals." As Shiro spoke he forced himself to sit up so that he was looking at Lee at eye level, which was easier than normal considering how tall she was. "However, I would like to understand your pain better, if you'd allow me to of course. I'd be glad to listen to more of your story if you feel comfortable enough to share it. The burden of the past is often times lighter when the load is split between yourself and a friend." He said in a gentle tone, offering Lee a warm smile as he extended his hand out to her. "We're friends now right?"

Lee was a little suprised. She had childhood friends, but she grew more distant to other people as the years went by. It had been a long time since anyone asked to be her friend. She took his hand and shook it, and gave a little smile. "Yeah, friends." After she released his hand, she started her story. "I'm from a far off country, called Celestia. It's really small, but so full of life. My family and I lived a mainly happy life, I had younger sisters to look out for and such. Though, because of some injuries, I had to leave home. It was either that or make my dad choose between me and his job. I hung around the area, but had broken ties with my family. Then..." Lee paused, it was the hardest part of her story. "Then the attack came. Some radical group bombed the country, most of it was destroyed. I...I haven't seen another of my people since then." Lee hugged herself. It was the first time since then that she had spoken about it. But Shiro was right, it helped her a little bit. Before she feebly hoped that the past few years were all a nightmare, but now she had herself recognized and affirmed the tragedy. Now she could begin to heal and move on.

Injuries? He thought to himself as he listened to Lee's story. What kind of injuries would force someone out of a family? As Shiro recalled the battles he and Lee had just paired up for he didn't notice anything debilitating in her movements and didn't notice anything odd about her that would be cause such a drastic ultimatum. Still, whatever her injuries were it was clear that Lee made the noble sacrifice of leaving before her father would have to try to make an impossible choice. Something so tragic as that made him think that the story was done, but that was not the case as the worst was yet to happen. When she said that she had no where else to go he thought Lee meant figuratively, but as it turned out her home was literally gone. One tragedy after another, no, tragedy was an understatement. Shiro really didn't know what to say, and while he could never really know what she was feeling, knowing what had happened though made it easier for him to start to know her better. And it did look like it helped her a bit to get that heavy burden off her chest. Shiro smiled, scooting over to Lee and giving her a hug. "You have been through so much suffering. There is little more that I can offer you other than my companionship, but for what it's worth I'm told that I'm a riot at parties." He said with a light chuckle as he let go of her and got up, offering her a hand. "Course I'll be sure to help in any way I can. Even if it's just to help you up off the ground."

"Thank you." Lee said, taking his hand and then hugging Shiro back. It was good to have a friend again, someone to talk to. She had spent so much time trying to make it on her own. And then trying to justify her solitude. She now realized that such thinking wouldn't get her anywhere, a person needed to lean on someone else every now and then. She stretched a little bit, getting ready for the next fight. "So, do you want to start off on the next one?" she asked, her voice taking a little bit lighter tone than her plain business-only monotone.

"Heh heh, you're welcome." Shiro said with a big grin as Lee hugged him, glad to have been able to help a little. It was something his dad had taught him, always be kind to everyone and lend a hand whenever possible. Of course helping everyone he could came so natural to Shiro that he probably would do it anyway. He made his way back over to the battle zone with Lee as he started cracking his knuckles and his neck. "I suppose." He said with a chuckle as he took his staff out looking at the next Mesmerize. Staff in hand Shiro tossed it up into the air, jumping up into the air after it. As he flipped himself vertically he did an airborn flash kick, kicking his staff with enough force and precision to send it speeding at the monster with enough speed and power to pierce it's side and cause it to get angry. The Beast cried out and angrily charged Shiro, staff sticking out of it's side as it ran at Shiro who hit the ground with a thud. He smirked as he rolled to the side out of harms way, grabbing the staff as he rolled away and tearing it from the beast as it stumbled blood pouring out of it's wound.

Lee, being in better spirits, threw all of her knives at the Mesmerize at once. Several missed their mark, but a few hit home, causing the creature to screech in anger. It charged at Lee, its curved horn gleaming menacingly. She side-stepped from its path, but the back draft nearly knocked her over. Her leg, healed as it was, was still a little stiff and so her reaction was slower than usual. I hope we don't have too much more of this. she thought. That was probably my 23rd life. she smiled at her own little joke, and sent an arrow flying toward the beast's leg. It met its mark, and the Mesmerize stumbled once more. "Ha! Let's see how much you like it!" Lee said, taunting the creature.

"Heh heh, you know that's not the same one that hurt your leg." Shiro said with a chuckle as he dusted off his pants, taking a small rock and tossing it at the downed Mesmerize to get its attention. Having been shot in the leg it struggled to get to it's feet and nearly fell over again, but the enraged animal kept at it and charged Shiro again. This time however it whipped it's head at him sending it's crescent like horn flying at him, spinning wildly like a boomerang. "huh!?" None of the other mesmerize had done this, this one must have been a tab stronger than the others. Shiro barely managed to dodge the flying blade but as soon as he did the beast rammed right into him with it's body, it's head hitting his still very sore abdomen hard. Shiro was send tumbling back, even though the wound was healing thanks to the potion it had been a deep hit that was going to take more time to fully heal up and right now he had the wind knocked out of him. The blade came back around and attached itself back onto the Mesmerize's head as Shiro struggled to get backto his feet. "D-damn...caught off guard..."

Lee chuckled at Shiro's observation, but her face quickly turned serious as she saw the creature ram into Shiro. She let loose two arrows, each burrowing deep into the Mesmerize, while also running over to where Shiro was. She had no more potions, and hadn't stocked any magic. Ugh, guess my tough as nails approach has one glaring flaw. She thought as she remembered earlier that day when she decided not to bring a lot of healing items or magic. "If I can't handle a few scrapes, then I won't be much of help for Celeste won't I Jazzy?" she had asked her wolf pup sleeping on her bed. "Just hold on Shiro! I'll finish it off and then we'll get you fixed up!" Lee said as she unleashed the rest of her quiver at the creature. It fell for the last time and disappeared, leaving behind a single potion. She hurried and gave it to Shiro. "Don't try and stand up! You might make it worse." Lee said, concerned. But no sooner had she said so, another Mesmerize approached and started another attack. "Really!?" she yelled at it. "If only I had the No-Encounter ability!" She said as she ran around the battle field, picking up fallen arrows and her knives. "This won't take too long Shiro!"

As Shiro tried to get to his feet he was frozen by a sharp pain radiating from his ribs that nearly made him collapse again. That other Mesmerize had struck him deep, and then of course this one hit him directly with a head-butt in the same spot. The bandages around his wound started to turn red as the cut was surely reopened. He watched as Lee made quick work of the monster and rushed the potion it dropped over to him, only to have yet another Mesmerize come charging in at them. However as the shooting pain possessed all of his senses Shiro continued to smile defiantly, clenching his jaw tightly as he punched the ground forcing himself to stand up. What kind of a man would he be if he just laid there uselessly while a lady fought? "No, it won't." He said with a chuckle as he got to his feet, a small stream of blood dripping from the side of his mouth. "Don't worry about me Lee, I'm way to tough to be taken out by a scratch like this." Shiro's bandana started to glow with red lettering as his body gave off a fiery aura that was concentrated on his limbs. The Mesmerize turned to face him, shooting it's horn at Shiro as well, but before it even got to him the white haired man was gone. "BLAZING BARRAGE!" Shiro had vanished, and all that could be seen was a blazing trail burning in the snow leading from where he was directly towards the Mesmerize where Shiro now stood, furiously attacking the creature. It didn't even get the chance to cry out as blazing fists and legs made constant contact, Shiro attacked without pause plumbing the opponent and charing it to a crisp as he struck it over and over and over. By the time Shiro delivered the final uppercut the blackened husk of the Mesmerize simply turned to ash and disappeared, leaving Shiro breathing heavily as the flames vanished and he collapsed to his knees, still grinning as blood dripped from his mouth. "Heh heh heh, no problem."
