Ako groaned and blushed at his assigned job, and almost asked Annie to do it before she ran out in search on Charles. With a sigh he set to work, anything for Gidget, and removed everything as gently as possible.
He thought about calling out to Annie, and have her keep Charles alive until he got there, but smiled at the thought of the man's insides turning to acid. Anything Ako could do would be too fast, Annie's power was perfect for what needed to be done.

Annie's head whipped around as she heard a man's scream and howls of pain. Following the sounds, it was as if the gods had answered her prayers: pinned on the ground was Charles Ray, blood and hurt. She smiled, leaning down to look at him better, "I found you, Mr. Ray. I've been looking for you, especially after what I saw you did to Gidget."
Her smile was wicked, like the mean boy next door who would smile as he looked down on a line of ants with his magnifying glass. She sort of hoped the man would fight, it would be so much easier for her to do what she planned to do... but then again, she could feel her breaths were heavier than they normally are- as if she had ran up twenty flights of stairs- sweat was beaded on her forehead, she was bruised, and scratched, her tears had long ago smeared her makeup, even though it was supposed to be completely waterproof. Blood streaked her clothes, she was a mess, it was lucky that Charles Ray looked like he was in worse shape then her.
"First," Annie said in a hiss, "I should thank-you, though. Thanks to you, I've managed to face all of my fears- both in my head and in reality..." She sighed her voice almost remorseful as she spoke, "Give the situation, what do you propose I do, sir?"

Charles picks his head up to look at Annie. Pure hated was seething from his gaze as his entire body shook from pain. His lip curls into an almost inhuman scar as he hisses at her, "You can drop your false Southern manners. We both know what it is you want to do. The question, Ms. Soulsmith, is why you haven't done it yet? Here he is: the man who has abducted you and your friends, attacked you with your worst fears, and above all...made the precious young Ms. Morris into a breathing computer. Here he is, helpless and going into shock, and yet the only thing you have done is gloat. Perhaps, Ms. Soulsmith, it's because you still hold onto your pitiful ideal of not bringing harm to anyone? You killed that guard in the stairwell without so much as a blink of hesitation. You've left his two sons without a father, and a wife without a husband. So effortlessly, and yet when you face me, you hesitate."

Annie forced a laugh, "They're right back home, you Yankees will never understand the South... my humanity and compassion, is not false. I don't have a need to fake anything. The fact that I am a pacifist is not a weakness, contrary to what you may believe. But, a sociopath like you wouldn't understand something like that."
"Mr. Ray," Annie said taking a deep breath, "I don't plan on killing you... even when I had an opportunity to attack earlier, now that I look back on everything, I wouldn't kill you. But, I can and will make it so that you can watch over hours maybe even days as your own heart kills you. I want you to explain to me what your purposes were. You claimed to want Tansy and then use Gidget... it doesn't make sense. I don't like unanswered questions. We can do a slow, somewhat painful death- caused by your own heart pumping drops of acid through your blood, or the slow somewhat painful death along with acid burns on your skin- rotting out your eyeballs... I'm sure I can figure out something appropriate."
"So, Mr. Ray, what was your goals?" Annie said, her brown eyes cold and hateful met Charles Ray's hateful eyes. Truth be told, Charles Ray shouldn't hate her for what she did... it would be harder to take care of someone who glared at her with such accusatory eyes. At least in the case of the guard she had killed, she never had to meet his gaze.

Charles Ray sneers at Annie, "I've never lied to you about my goals, but things changed once I figured out what it is Ms. Morris can do. You see, as much as I wanted to copy Ms. Hinzard's power, I lacked the means to do it. I would have had her for months, even years before I could develop something to copy her power. Then along comes the little genius. All I had to do was show her what we had discovered so far, pieces of a puzzle if you will, and she almost immediately produced something from that wonderful mind of hers. It was obvious then, there was no way I could let my little foreman get away. She was much to valuable, and much to powerful."

"And you brought the rest of us here for, what, storage? Wait until you could find something to do with us?" Annie demanded, angrily. The air around her was beginning to heat up- she could feel herself beginning to draw moisture in the air around her, beginning to change it. "You still have no use for Ako, Garret, or I, even if you planned on using Tansy. You should have known I would never have willingly helped you once you took Gidget- when I didn't attack you. I could have permanently disfigured your face right then and there, but I didn't."
She took a deep breath, "So, what would be worse for you? To survive permanently crippled? Or to die?"
Grabbing his shirt collar she raised her fist and aimed at his jaw and punched him. Great to know that when her Dad gave her 'the talk' he also included the proper way to punch someone.

When Annie's fist comes into contact with Charles' face it once again feel like punching porcelain. His skin cracks and then falls apart, shattering as it falls to the floor. Beneath the skin is a skull with it's eyes still in place, with a horrible grin spread across it's teeth. It cackles at her, "I'm afraid neither will be happening today Ms. Soulsmith. What you've been talking to is Charles Ray's worst fear manifested into reality. He absolutely can't stand the idea of dying at the hands of some pushy, stuck up, hot to trot woman like you. The mere idea brought tears to his eyes, and then I was born before him. The picture of his future if he were to die at your hands. I'm close to losing all the `blood` I have left Ms. Soulsmith, but I think I'm going to take you with me."The creature throws it's hands at Annie's neck, all the while laughing terribly.

She felt the creature's hand grip around her neck and all the while, she was laughing hysterically. " 'Pushy, stuck-up, hot to trot woman like me'? Who would he rather be killed by?" The laughs of both Annie and the creature mixed in the air, a discordant symphony of sounds. She wasn't fighting back the monster, for some reason she wasn't scared. Charles Ray had in fact misjudged her, she really wouldn't have killed him- or at least off the bat.
Her eyes closed and her vision was darkening as the creature's bony fingers pressed against her throat as it laid over her. Sweat dripped off Annie's forehead and she opened her eyes wide, mustering her strength in an instant her sweat and the moisture on the air rose up above her and the monster, before like rain it came down upon them- acidic rain burning everything it touched, some of the stray drops falling onto Annie as well, she felt the pain as her own acid hit her, but she knew the main force of her attack was hitting the monstrosity attacking her.

Slowly, Tansy opened her eyes. She moaned softly and placed her hand on her head. She felt weak, and her arm was heavy. She looked down and grabbed Annie's coat. She looked inside the door to see the others, but not Annie. Quickly, she muttered under her breath, and her body began to glow with a brilliant white light.
She smiled as she stood and pushed herself into the air. She looked around and gasped when she saw Annie with what looked like Charles. She sped over to them and kicked the creature on top of Annie. "Let her go!"

The creature's cries of pain and laughter are mixed as it's flesh begins to melt away. It's hands come off at the wrists when Tansy kicks it. It falls back and writhe's, spitting and cursing all the while. Gradually it begins to slow down, and then finally stop. It lays there in silence as it melts away into nothing.
After Garret had undone Gidget's headgear and securing straps, she still did not move. A few moments after Ako removes the IV's she stirs slightly. Her eyes flutter open, although they are unable to focus on anything. She says in a quiet and weak voice, "Ako..."

Coughing Annie pulled the hands from her throat as the moisture in the air calmed, the remaining moisture build-up falling as innocent water. Clutching her head she leaned over, gulping for air. "So... so much for finding Mr. Ray," she gasped. "Thank-you."
She laid down on the floor, staring at her hands and arms which were speckled with acidic burns, covered in grim, and blood. Annie just wanted to curl up with a teddy bear and sleep for a week. She felt so drained.

Tansy smiled softlyas she bent down and picked up Annie in her arms. She smiled at her as she walked over to where the others where. "Come on guys.We need to get out of here, and now." She nodded somewhat as she headed back towards the stairs.

"I'm here, Gidge. Come on, let's get you home." Ako said, moving to pick the girl up. When he had her cradled in his arms he turned to follow Tansy. He couldn't wait to get home, he wanted a shower and bed. He would probably sleep for a few days, longer if his stomach didn't wake him up.

Gidget hangs loosely in Ako's arms. She rests her head against his body, a little upset that she was too tired to really enjoy the moment. It's then that she remembers something. A-0079 follows behind them, Gidget musters up all that she can to look over Ako's shoulder and speak loudly, "A-0079 priority command input: Set full absorption overload, delay marker ten minutes. Command authorization 10MST0402...I'm sorry." Tears begin to stream down her face.
A-0079 halts abruptly and says, "Command input acknowledged. Grateful reply: Thank you Princess Gidget. Request: Please do not cry for me." He turns on his heels and returns to the Foreman dome. Once inside his armor plates slide open to reveal several lightning rods coming out of his shoulders, forearms, palms, thighs, and chest.
Garret raises an eyebrow at Gidget, "Please tell me he's not about to self destruct or something."
The girl averts her eyes from Garret. The look on her face says it all, "We have ten minutes to get out of here. Take me to the elevator, I can make it work for us."

Annie opened her eyes, surprised she had dozed off so quickly, and she realized that she was in Tansy's arms. Maybe that is why she had dozed off, she had felt safe being protected by a friend. "Tansy," Annie said quietly, "You can put me down. I'm probably pretty heavy. We're almost home. I think I can make it that far at least."
The idea of home made her smile, though she felt guilty about smiling after all that she had gone through- after all she had done. She placed a hand to her forehead, she was burning up, she muttered to herself, tears in her eye, "Oh Gods almighty... my head is killin' me."
