I have a question, What if we are wrong? By we I mean Christians, Jews, Hebrews, and any other religion of the world. What if their is no higher power. And it is all a figment of our imagination. An escape goat, or whipping boy, when everything goes right or wrong?
I've had this question too sometimes. What I've come to is what matters is the experiences we've had in our respective faiths and what type of person these beliefs are leading us to become. Let's say that tomorrow we find the bones of Jesus meaning that there was no literal resurrection. Even if his bones were found I would still be a Christian and I would not deny the resurrection. Why, not because I ignore reality but because the teachings of the resurrection has a particular meaning to me and has helped me become the person that I am.

Does the story of the tortoise and the hare become less true and less meaningful if the tortoise and hare never had a literal race?

I think everyone asks this at least once in their life.

The thing is, I don't follow Christianity because of all the signs and miracles that are described in the Bible... It might sound almost blasphemous, but I really don't care that Jesus was born of a virgin... or that he miraculously healed so many afflictions with a matter of a touch, thought, or word... and if it weren't for the reason why he resurrected, I wouldn't really care about that either...

If it were proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that none of that really happened, I would still be a Christian....

The way I see it, all of those things were really just a way to get people to listen to the Message... The miracles aren't the message... God's Love is. We aren't supposed to be focusing on all the unexplainable things that we read about in the Bible. There is a reason why the red letters are RED LOL

What was it Jesus told Thomas? Blessed are those who believe without seeing.... I think it applies to us in the present day... Not because we haven't seen Jesus physically... But how many people can listen to the real message and not be blinded by the fillers that are there for those who need signs.

Besides, if you really think about it... How miraculous is it REALLY, that God (or by extension, His son) would heal people, or not stay dead (or allow His son to)... He's God!

I could go more into this but that would detract from your point razz .

Playing Dragon Quest 2 right now. The cave to Rhone is a hard dungeon. High level monsters, pitfalls, and looping hallways. Ugh. I might need to level up some more before I proceed further.

I know why, I felt that way yesterday. I like to read, and some of the things I read is scientific. Yesterday it was about the "God particle." I know I shouldn't, but I also read the comments if their is any... Eh, I learned my lesson. never read comments again.

One last question, to all the parents, How do you teach a child that something is bad, when the child still can't talk? I ask cause, I feel really bad for punishing my nephew. He is 2 and will be 3 by the time I graduate in a few months.

Well... "No No!" is a good start. rolleyes

Other than that, short time-outs are also fair play for a child who is old enough to be walking... The general rule of thumb is 1 minute per year of age... Basically, you remove the child from the situation to another place... Allow the child to fuss, and when the child calms, allow 1 to 2 minutes for the child to stay where you put them...

Play-pens are alright, but I found, with my children, it was better when I made them sit in a place where they were capable of leaving, but training them not to do so until I said they could...

If a child is repeating a dangerous action that could potentially harm them, then swats are not out of the question... We always reserved swats for dangerous situations, that way the children were not immune to the shock when we ourselves were scared for their safety.

Yet every child is different, and they don't all respond to the same methods, these are basic tactics. Even between my two, I had to make some changes, but these rules were where we started. Good luck.

The reason I asked was, I watch my nephew, when no one else is available. He normally listens to me, if grandpa or daddy isn't home.

But, Today, he was told to stay in the same room as me, but he left and I didn't realize it until I heard him laughing in the other room.

I don't know how but he got a hold of some ant poison. All of ours is keep really really high. He didn't open it, or use any... needless to say, it is bad that he got it and was playing with it.

I really don't like to punish him, but today he scared me beyond my limits.

Or just don't have fear of doubts. Doubt is with us all the time. Life, in general is a big mystery in the poetic sense. It's doubt that keeps us to seeking and faith that keeps us stable. It's doubt that moves us to strengthen our faith, not in the sense of hiding from reality but rather to test what we hold to be true. It's more than just belief as some will try to say but rather trust in what keeps us grounded.

Sounds like you kept him safe. You did the right thing.

I am just glad, Daddy is home and he can watch him.

For a person that doesn't want a wife, girlfriend, my own children or anything among those lines... I have been watching, my nephew a lot as of late...

Well, if this is the first time something he did scared the s**t out of you, you're doing pretty well. LOL

My son was always a genius when it came to mechanical stuff... He figured out how to change batteries in his toys when he was only 1.5 years old... In toys that you need to use a screwdriver to get into the battery case! He would unscrew the cover, put batteries in, and screw the cover back on!...

Needless to say, outlets held a special enamor to them, and doorknobs were never an obstacle, the kits you install on cabinets and drawers... useless...

Just a couple weeks after his second birthday, my husband and I awoke to find our front door wide open, and our son nowhere in the house... It was February and particularly cold... Our son had unlocked the door and decided to go for a walk in his pajamas... My husband and I split up, I went door knocking around our neighbors, and my husband took off down the road near our house... He found him rather quickly, he hadn't been out too long.... but long enough for my husband and I to be shaking and tearful for the next couple of days... We installed chain locks and dead bolts on the highest part of our doors ever since... not to keep burglars out, but to keep kids in.

Or, when my daughter was 3, she decided to climb up on a chair to reach my essential oils (since baby-proofing cabinets and drawers never worked for my son, we got in the habit of keeping dangerous stuff up high)... She wanted to smell pretty. The first bottle she found smelled fruity, so she decided to try to drink it... I walked around the corner just in time to see her tilt her head back. The oil went all over her face, and down her throat... I was horrified... I called poison control, because the skull and crossbones were pretty bold and big on the 3 ounce bottle... They were pretty awesome, and I learned that oils are most dangerous if they get in the lungs, which is why the warning was there... But my daughter wasn't coughing or sputtering, so they said the worse I would probably have to deal with was bowel distress, and to watch for allergic reaction... If she had problems breathing, we would need an ambulance... Luckily, she was just fine... But we did learn that there is a way to make poop smell nice neutral ...

... Those are the first scares that come to mind when I am thinking about my kids... There are scissor incidents that I think EVERY kid ends up with, choking incidents, the inevitable bad substance incidents, falls, bumps, infections, etc... Not trying to scare you or anything... But one of the things that really used to scare me about these incidents was the fact that I felt like I had so majorly failed, and I would beat myself up for it... Don't allow yourself to feel that way for too long, if you fall into that pattern... As long as you stopped a situation before it escalated, you did exactly what you were supposed to be doing.

The only one, where I had to handle it alone. Oh, he has scared me before, but all those times. There was someone else there.

His mother was, may still be, a druggie when she was pregnant with him. And he was born addicted to the s**t she was taking. Because of that he was tied up in legal and medical issues. So his first six months of life, I prayed for him almost daily and only got to see him once or twice.

Though, my greatest fear, before today's, was a few weeks ago. My nephew was spending a few nights at my cousins... My brother comes home, and 5 minutes later told me, hastily, on the way out. "Take care of Princess, I have to take Tatum to the hospital" Didn't tell me anything else, That was around 8. It wasn't until 4 that they came back and I learn that he needed to go there for a small fever that wasn't subsiding.

Gauntlets...throw or hold on to?

I suppose it is just a matter of what would make you feel better...
I do so like throwing things when I am frustrated. stressed

Where would be a good place to advertise for banner art for this guild? Would anyone like to judge on banner art with me?
