This dilemma would be something that Sukotto would need to work around, especially since he didn't intend on allowing himself or especially his teammates to take a blow from the said weapon just so he'd be able to properly cast his genjutsu on an opponent. He thought hard for a few minutes and came up with an idea that would potentially work. If the Uchiha could create a genjutsu that was capable of convincing a shinobi that their weapon was out to get them, then he'd surely be capable of creating a successful clone of himself. If the opponent swung their weapon at the clone, then the real Uchiha could quickly study exactly how they used their weapon and come up with the proper genjutsu on the fly. This would be especially useful if Sukotto had never seen or read about the weapon before. The clone would be ruined, but that mattered not, as Sukotto would have valuable knowledge that would likely end the fight if his jutsu was capable of being as powerful as he wanted it to be. A slight smile crossed his face as he thought of sending a clone to face the enemy, who would be completely clueless of what the Shimagakure shinobi truly had in store for them. It would be much more than a simple bunshin, but the key to valuable information.

After solving the problem that he had faced with determining how an enemy's weapon worked before casting this hypothetical genjutsu, Sukotto decided that he'd be able to move right along in his thought process. Certainly, the use of this jutsu wouldn't work against shinobi who didn't use weapons, but the Uchiha didn't know of many shinobi other than himself who didn't use some kind of weapon. Ever since he had trained with his foster father back in the Orochi village, trained with Shuga when he became a Shimagakure genin, trained with Ichi after this, and then finally on his own and with Senritsu, the Uchiha hadn't touched a weapon for more than a few moments. They were, to be honest, very powerful tools that could be used to deal much more damage than most taijutsu attacks could ever hope to do. However, the Uchiha felt as though he had far too many ambitions to take the time to properly learn how to use a weapon. He had considered using a bow himself in the past, like Senritsu had intended on using, but after learning his favorite ninjutsu and inventing his very own taijutsu to back it up if he ran out of chakra, Sukotto honestly saw no need to take the time to practice learning how to use a weapon.

Indeed, Sukotto hadn't bothered with the shuriken or kunai practice that he often noticed academy students taking part in. He figured that if he was going to throw anything at an enemy, it would be a ball of fire that they couldn't catch. In any case, he thought that those types of training were far too generalized, and that academy training in general was too generalized. What this meant is that the Uchiha felt as though the academy didn't really tend to the individual skill of the shinobi who attented the classes. Instead, it taught a broad range of shinobi skills, which was an important thing for sure, but Sukotto felt as though it were stressed too far. He figured that the training that he had done on his own had made him more powerful than most of the others in his age group who had taken the academy classes that had taught them how to sneak when they were more of a powerhouse kind of shinobi, and taught them how to lift and throw heavy things when they were a shinobi who's speed should have been emphasized more. Sukotto was happy to have managed to get three of the most outstanding of Shimagakure's younger generation before they were assigned to a squad leader who paid no mind to their individual potential.

Sukotto had taken his individual training to an extreme that he somewhat regretted. While the academy taught too generally, the Uchiha had found himself training too specifically in the past. He had placed too much of his focus on ninjutsu instead of paying attention to the important details of his defense like sensing genjutsu and detecting hidden enemies. It had taken him this long to get both of these subtle parts of defense up to par with his offensive capabilities and he felt as though he still had a little ways to go before successfully reaching the defensive level that he wanted himself to be at. The Uchiha intended on training his chakra quite a bit from this point on, but he would also do his best to not neglect his defensive training to make sure that he didn't end up in the very same boat that he had been in before. Indeed, Sukotto vowed to himself that he wouldn't end up like the younger version of himself, extremely adept at ninjutsu and lacking a proper defense to back it up. In addition, Sukotto would make sure that his squad trained in this same way for as long as he could and would hope that the training habits would carry over into their own future squads if they chose to lead any; this would be his most ultimate contribution to Shimagakure.

At the very least, Sukotto hoped that Senritsu, Serena, and Shisei would understand how important training their strengths as well as their weaknesses would be so that they would be more capable of defending themselves in the future. He realized that sometimes training led down useless paths and skills that one didn't often use would be tested, as was the case with him and creating Senritsu's bow for her. However, he wished to emphasize that the team waste as little time as possible when they did happen to train, and that they never neglect their defenses, as he had previously thought. If they ever fought a genjutsu user like the one that the Uchiha intended to become, then the team would have to be prepared to see through illusions and work together to develop a strategy that could combat such a lethal form of jutsu. Sukotto would do his best to guide them down this path, but he couldn't do the training for them, so it was completely up to the members of Team Hosenka to learn how to handle tricky situations that Sukotto wouldn't be there to help them out with. He had a few plans for testing them to see if they were ready, but he felt as though the time for testing was a little ways off yet.

After he felt as though the team had caught up with their core ability training, the Uchiha would attempt to focus on some sort of jutsu creation for each member. If the three of them were to learn unique jutsu simultaneously, then their arsenal would increase dramatically as soon as the three of them were done with their respective training sessions. Sukotto liked the thought of this, because all three of his squad mates had very unique talents. This meant that he'd be able to guide them along separate paths while keeping them close enough together so that they'd be able to combine whatever it was that they learned into a successful assault against an opponent, whether that opponent be an enemy shinobi or simply a tricky situation that required tact. Indeed, Sukotto wouldn't be training his squad in merely combat skills, but also in other skills that shinobi needed to complete missions. Too many young shinobi that he saw had wasted away all of their training time on merely becoming stronger than everyone else, but that wouldn't be the case with his squad if they remained patient with him. He'd find specific instances that required odd skills, and made sure that at least one of his squad mates were able to handle a tricky situation, no matter what it was.

His bodily trajectory was a success. “Heh. Of course it was...” the serpent youth gloated to himself. The small frame descended over his weapon, the body’s weight releasing the weapon from its earth capture. Shisei then kept his body low to the ground with the wooden weapon pointing forward at the opponent. Both legs shot forward as if on a spring, pointing the closed fan at the silhouette figure. Just as Shisei had stabbed the shadow’s leg earlier he would do the same thing at its face. If the boy was lucky, in actual battle this maneuver would pop right through an enemy’s nose and skull. Like making a hole into a jug. Taking out the enemy’s face could be pivotal during battle. One thing that had helped him greatly against the rose chain. The first war against that action had aided Shisei. In the second fight that type of action had aided the eel. The serpent youth was only thankful that the results of round two were not as dire in his favor as it was for the opponent in the first round. Even though the damage looked much worse, Shisei recovered after time to the point it was like nothing had ever happened. Part of this may have just been his will to keep his skin flawless and perfect. After all any type of scar was imperfection, something Shisei disliked. Yet this was only the physical body. The mental scar still remained. The fight that night long ago may have been the last chemical to add to the catalyst as to how Shisei viewed the world now. How could he continue playing with trash on the island that inspired for nothing more than to eat and sleep. Shisei needed more out of life than that and where his pursuit went was into the abyss of monsters. The eel was one of those beasts, the first. If the Orochi born played the games of the rest of the Shima children he would surely die by the beasts that hindered his dream to the top.

Even though Shisei had pierced directly through the face of the shadow enemy it did not hinder it. The boy could have imagined the facial features being pushed back into a one inch indent the flesh and skull. The enemy’s eye would have popped, the nose would have broken and perhaps some teeth missing. Yet the serpent youth could not contemplate this anymore as one of the tendrils of his mind returned. One of his amber orbs caught a look from it from the corner of his eye. Both feet hooped just in time to miss it. The two others also went for his feet, but the snake’s toes kept him a few inches above each one. It was as if the serpent youth was playing a dangerous game of jump rope. Yet at the same time it was only a fantasy in his head. Perhaps the only part of his head left that kept a childhood love of the imaginary. Although to the serpent youth he was only viewing another foe, another opponent. Two step, three step. The child’s foot work did not hinder. When his pale arm went to attack though the boy’s wrist gave fail again. The dread hair tried this during a mid jump, but the failure only caused his body to plummet to ground. With a small grunt, Shisei landed with a thud. His small frame falling upon his tessen and wrist. As the gold eyes opened trying to get ready to counterattack or parry it was too late. The imaginary snake like shadows had already gotten him. One across the neck and the other across his abdomen. Things of the mind cannot do any physical harm, but the emotional things they can do is questionable. For the serpent youth this would not do. The child adjusted his form so that he was now on his belly. The tactile brain continued to try and perceive adjustments to his form and while holding the weapon. His face still showed no emotion or expression of joy, but deep down Shisei was getting frustrated. Two years he’s had the tessen and his skill still wasn’t good enough to wield it efficiently in battle.

If it were an actual battle he would be dead. No doubt if the monster before him were real Shisei would have lost both eyes and his small intestine would be hanging out of his stomach. The thing in front of him would devour the despair knowing that the boy had lost. “I refuse…” the serpent thought. He would not allow that to happen. He would not allow such a devious fate like last time happen again. That was for losers and trash like his peers on the island. Something he refused to be. His frame slowly returned to his feet, on hand gripping the hurt aching wrist. The amber suns staring at the silhouette with its worm like arms poking out. His mind was devising and executing different plans. Running different scenarios, not just for this training, but for the future. One of the reasons for this wrist pain may have been because of the last battle with the bloody chain and his five eels. At that time Shisei had suffered disjointed limbs as well as almost losing an eye and part of his mouth. It was the most he had ever suffered and perhaps one of the times he realized just how much he despised the color red. After all blood is red and red flowing from the body must mean imperfection. His ghost colored flesh was not the only thing injured. Even the tessen had gotten bruised. Unknown to many and perhaps only by an inspection of the armament could one find it, but there is a scar about a foot long. This scar is on the inside of the tessen and goes horizontally across the weaker parts of the weapon. It served as a reminder of, although a very low percentage, a possible future of death if he did not get stronger. Training with the golden wind fang slowed down greatly after that battle. Once Shisei had gotten better his main objective was to become genin in which that never came to fruition. He did practice with the tessen after, but it had slowly become a large accessory until six months ago, when the youth began to use it again.

The dark shadow had begun to charge at the snake shinobi. The dread hair only watched as it slowly approached, the tendrils coming at him again. Pivot the head. Sidestep right. Duck low. Jump and spin. All four were evaded and the Orochi born was close to phantasmal nemesis. His next move planned already. With the hurt wrist the boy was going to attack. He was going to force his body into battle, even if it broke. That was the only way…. With a small flick of the he unlatched a piece of the tessen and the once strange wooded sword like article spread out majestically like a yellow bird opening its wings. This golden rod wing made a horizontal swipe at the shadow. It was just enough distance to perform a decapitation.

If it were a person the cranium would be rolling on the floor now. Well maybe not. It was a wooden tessen. Nonetheless if it were an actual person they would have quite the neck pain. One that would take a chiropractor to get out from the vertebrae closest to the skull. The size of the weapon mixed with the wind kept his spin and velocity going. Despite only making one twirl on purpose, as the Orochi youth came down his frame made one more rotation before landing. When his feet did hit the ground then one more rotation was made, but Shisei kept his balance. He stared down at his wrist. He could feel it tightening slightly with small irritation. The gold armament was also a little more difficult to use while open. Once open the weapon was not like any other. Two tendrils moved forward in a straight line to attack Shisei. The boy’s body easily evaded in between the two. He pivoted his body sideways along with the tessen until within range to hit the silhouette of his mind. Keeping the wind fang open Shisei used his arm to swipe upwards. Once again because of the wind and the snake’s lack of more mass, his body was elevated into the air. The attack made a vertical cut through the silhouette and little snake’s knee even managed to get a hit while ascending into the sky.

As dangerous as the attack was, it was based on a move of elegance. It was because of Naomi playing with the tessen that he got the idea for that attack. The Hyuuga girl liked playing with his things too much, but for once it actually was of help. Naomi was probably one who enjoyed this tessen more than the serpent himself. She liked the color and enjoyed that it could be used on hot days. Another clan member could fan on those days. Shisei never used it so, but Naomi had a few plans for it that showed an uninterested serpent. Most were trivial uses, but did provide ideas. Naomi was a bit more useful than Chinatsu.

As the boy was in air he knew the move he wanted to try. His frame tried to adjust forward, but with the excess size of the cumbersome tessen it only lead for him to plummet to the ground. The Orochi youth fell down on top of his chin, with a small grunt. His tongue protruded between lips to lick his upper lick quickly as the dust from the landing traveled in between his nostrils and ears. After a few seconds the Orochi youth returned to his feet rubbing his jaw and flicking dust away from his lip. Well at least it wasn’t his wrist that time. The shadow of his mind remained still until the boy would commence attacking again. Of course if it were a real battle he’d be dead by now. As soon as Shisei fell his head would have been lopped off or divided into two. Fighting the urge to reprimand himself for such failure his brain began to process what had went wrong just now. It was a log tougher than Naomi would make it look. She was a lot more fluid with such a movement. That or maybe her eyes had given her a better awareness of such situations. The ultimate maverick had to decide whether or not he could do this move at his stage of training. It always seemed that he was behind… His ascension into the sky always put him into a momentum that led him away from the enemy, yet once airborne he needed forward acceleration to proceed with the attack. Also he had to be careful cause too much of an advancing momentum would put him foreword of the aggressor and his assault would miss. As much as the Hyuuga peer was quiet and meek she did have agility for such things. Maybe the austere preteen would need to stop for now. “No…” was all his mind could think. He was not going to stop now. Nor his body or will. If there was a difference that the Hyuuga child had, Shisei was going to bridge that gap today.

After a few more tries and fails Shisei believed he found the correct formula to this. His breath was becoming harsher and the day had become night. How many hours had he been up now? If he kept up like this it would be forty eight hours is frame had been going. All day and night. What other his age would do that? Hell how many three years his senior trained so hard? In the serpent youth’s mind none did. Hence why they were undeserving of the title of ‘Strong’. Also why the Orochi knew he would be the strongest. His dream ascended far more than just a day to day basis. Pushing these thoughts of his superiority and Naomi’s fan movements from his head the maverick decided it would be time to try the move, but this time he’d start the combo from the beginning. With a small trot the boy began with his first attack again, his speed slowly increasing. Forward thrust to pierce the abdomen, the two twirl and hit the back of the knee with a hit. While down low, stab the foot.

While doing these movements, Shisei wondered how well this would work on Chinatsu. The other Hyuuga. One very peculiar. While Naomi enjoyed the cosmetic and social value of the tessen, Chinatsu found it to be a sissy weapon for a boy. There were a few times when the two clashed over it. Surprisingly she had used the large weapon a few times showing a degree of different moves despite her…. brutish nature. The tough Hyuuga’s movements are actually one of the reasons that Shisei began to see possible movements with it like a sword. Her reason for using it was because her parents desired it so. Using a fan could perhaps break some of the tomboy behavior in her. She didn’t want to use two small fans like a ‘sissy’ so she chose to use Shisei’s. After all he was hurt and it was big, not as girly as the other small ones. The tessen was possibly the only way the two bonded without their contact becoming ‘overly aggressive’, as Kanami had put it. If they ever met again the serpent youth would like to show her just how well he can wield it now. And maybe knock out another one of her teeth….

Upward face stab went into the horizontal head slice from before. This act opened the golden wing, but Shisei kept his balance and continued on with the move within a second’s time. Like before he did another slice. This time vertical and rising to the air, which made his body climb into the air. Unlike last time though the wanderer kept his frame straight and pushed his skeleton forward as soon as his skull had risen over the opponent. He pushed forward until his body followed suit and crunched together in a shape similar to a ball. The tessen remained out in one palm and as he fell the boy’s body rolled down. This hit the phantasm on his shoulder twice while the rest of the snake’s body hit the upper side of his forehead. At the end of the roll, before the boy hit the ground, both legs shot forward and caught him in time. This left the snake crouching with the tessen spread about him like how a wing covers a bird when it is perched.

{I apologize...I'm finally back sweatdrop }

Ugh...Serena was lacking motivation. She didn't know why, either. Maybe it was because she hadn't had much to eat all day? The Raiken found herself losing focus and concentration real easily. "Meh..Sorry Sukotto, but I think I need a minute to get some energy back.." She loosened her grip on her staff and sat down right where she was. It was a really good day to just relax and practice.

Serena laid down and looked up at the clear sky. She always loved looking up at the clean colors that were drawn above her. The Raiken took in a deep breath and relaxed, focusing on drawing up some energy to get back up and train again. She didn't want to be too long, for it would soon be night, and then they wouldn't be able to see very well on the cliffs.

Soon after a good while, the girl sat back up and stretched her arms out a bit and then got up. "Well, I guess I'm ready again, ahah." A quick rest did a lot of good for her, and now she felt ready to start again.

The combo was not over as yet though. The Orochi born still had more punishment to dish out to his imaginary training dummy. As the training dummy fell back Shisei leaped back on to his feet and twirled to face the silhouette. It stumbled forward also facing Shisei. Like a previous attack the serpent youth closed his golden wing and used the wood as piercing assault. His gold eyes aimed upward this time, not looking to puncture an organ in the abdomen, but right between the chest. As the material hit the shadow, the weapon went in a few centimeters. Just as it did that ghost colored fingers flicked the tessen and a pale wrist arched down and up. This opened the golden wing to its max span, slicing the foe both up and down vertically. The silhouette stumbled back again from the damage inflicted. It was a decent and quick two hit attack. One that could be used vertically or horizontally as opening it could cause some damage, even if minimal at any angle. It was something that his mind did not come up with. Chinatsu nor Naomi came up with the idea either.

That credit would have to go to Kanami. As much as the boy’s Byakugan peers were of help much came from Kanami. Although her times were not ever worried about the tessen, from when she saw one of the genin girls playing with it she often gave suggestions. Usually they were around Shisei. His face showed that he had no care, but his mind was taking note of everything. The dread hair did not think any of that knowledge would be of use to him in the future, but it was coming back. Although Kanami had no skill at all with a tessen there were a few times she was able to teach some of the children a thing or two about them. Her biggest role though was inspiring the two Hyuuga females to use the tessen. After Shisei had gotten injured, the diva felt it may have spurred him to heal quicker if others were using his weapon. She also feared that whatever happened to him would deter the boy from using the weapon again. The serpent youth may have opted for something more efficient. While that would be his choice to make, it would also be a shame for such a beautiful looking weapon to get scrapped on the wayside. Because let’s face it. Shisei most likely would have scrapped the weapon for another if he did not see its uses during his restraint to bed.

The Hyuuga was annoying. She was constantly like some sexual high den mother. The Orochi youth did not care for her, but at the same time she did always give results to certain things that favored him. After all he still had the tessen and it was becoming more and more useful as his cold fingers used it. Shisei charged at the silhouette again.

Now the boy had to make sure these moves could be supplemented in actual. It was a nine linked combo that could prove useful. Even if Shisei could not make that entire combo out on an opponent, he could surely break it up into pieces and use. Even as single hit attacks, these moves would be strong enough to at least hinder an opponent. His body turned to the shadow of his mind, evading the tendrils and restarting the combo at a faster speed. “Thrust forward…. slash low and horizontal…. stab the foot and then the face… tessen opens for neck slice… then change for it to sear up vertical…. body ascends and pushes forward into rolling dive…. finish off with close and open quick double hit” the boy’s mind contemplated. With each thought the movement was completed with 83% accuracy and 73% perfection. Shisei was not perfect in it as yet, but it was a start. After all he would need to continue to make combination. Speed was one of his greatest assets and through the speed he could make multiple attacks in the same instance that a person would need to take one. Physical strength may not be his best asset, but similar to the Hyuuga he did not need to be as muscular as a gorilla. As long as he kept that lightning speed he’d always be a few steps ahead of anyone. That would be enough to defeat everyone. Even though Shisei was still fighting a faceless phantasm his mind saw for an instant the ones he desired to kill most. After the combo was done, the boy found his frame closer to the edge of the cliffs than he had realized. He placed one palm over the other to rub his wrist. The bones were not adjusting to this type of stress as he was hoping. As fingers massaged the flesh amber eyes stared down at the village not really expecting to see anything aside from the dark night. His golden suns were surprised to find a slightly luminous glow down below. Seems to be in the direction of the student dorms. The Orochi youth silently watched what was going on below.

Learning Fenghuang
Fenghuang is the giant tessen that Shisei stole years ago. Because of its unique size and Shisei’s past injury he still has a bit of trouble balancing and using the weapon. Upon a windy cliff would be a good time to practice with it.
