User ImageThose violet eyes slitted faintly at the mention of "morning travels"... apparently the decision had already been reached and enacted before she'd even awakened...

b*****d.

...but that was done, and Asmyrra gave a faint shake of her head, something that seemed to be a cue that she was dismissing a line of thought. Offering him a decisive nod, one hand raised to gesture in a direction vaguely associated with where he usually set up his tent within the camp's boundaries. "Lead on, then. No sense in keeping our guests waiting, yes? And any word of importance from this morning, or the evening? I've not heard much in the way of what happened after my... collapse..."

Ky begins to walk in the direction of his tent, standing to Asmyrra's left side as is customary for a subordinate to do with his commander. His blue eyes lean in her direction, "Nothing that Lord Johannes probably has not told you already. Though I will say this much if he did not pass this on. After I arrived I happened upon the women you mentioned. None of them were local, and all but the weakened pale one had an interest in finding the Iron Fist. She escaped at some point during the night, though her state when I found her dissuades me from my theory. It is my belief that there is a probable chance one of the women in my tent was the one that ambushed you in the town."

___Azen had noticed the girl's discomfort with him, though could not pinpoint the reason of it. Was it the same reason anyone else has to feel uncomfortable with him? Was it because she didn't like strangers? He couldn't know, and he didn't know. Though, instinctively, the dark one took a slow sidestep away from Rosso, giving her more space; the last thing he wanted was to make Domini feel uneasy. Her accent was similar to what he's heard before, but not with humans, so he figured maybe he could get the information he seeks, or at least part of it.

___Asgard, whom could only see one side of Rosso's face, stunned when he could finally see both of her eyes. Two different colors: it was unusual to see such a pair of eyes, but not unnatural. The human cleared his throat once more, getting over the surprise. "Yes, I am indeed new. I apologize for my mistake. I did think you were not from here, too. As I already mentioned, I couldn't help but to notice your light accent: it is not new to me." He paused, nodding once to her question. "I am slightly tired, yes. I've been traveling for quite a while now. Though, why did you assume I came from the mountain?"

User ImageMismatched eyes narrowed slightly as the fellow mentioned the Rosso's accent, her small nose scrunching up faintly as one of those fingers poked with what she thought was suitable firmness into the center of the Human's breastplate... probably not budging the fellow even slightly. The words that emerged from that soft soprano carried a vaguely suspicious accusation, to accompany the expression. "...you better not be... erm... laughing... about accent. Will beat you up, big or not... erm... rraawrr," she muttered, having to pause mid-way through to try and think of the right word... this Common stuff wasn't as easy as it sounded.

The suspicious look quickly faded from those young features as the Rosso offered a deft pat to said poked breastplate, a bright smile crossing those features. "Besides, I know where stuff like that come from. Not so often, see armour that good on a Hu--... erm... huge guy like you."

Yeah... graceful. She knew she'd blown it with that one, the attempt at a recovery only making it worse... and, to hide the embarrassed flush that started to appear, that steaming mug, and it's incredibly volatile contents, was drawn from heavily again...

Squee.

___A finger poked his breastplate and words which seemed like an accusation were heard. Azen, surprised, held a breath in, his eyes widening and his lips slightly opening; he really did not expect such a reaction from Rosso. Though, after her high pitched, mumbled growl, Asgard couldn't help but to chuckle, not because he was laughing at her, but because of the situation in general.

___The heavy human shook his head after his short chuckle and gave Domini a friendly smile. "Of course I am not laughing at your accent. It brings back some memories though; very fond memories." He cleared, hoping the gal didn't get too upset over the little misunderstanding. "You know where an armor such as mine would come from? How is that? My sword and armor are rather unique amongst the Human lands. None can find anything alike where Humans live." His friendly smile turned into a teasing smirk. Azen noticed the girl's embarrassment and what she almost slipped. Although he was not fully certain, the odds of this young girl knowing something about the elves’ lands were pretty good: she did, after all, know where his armor came from, and her accent didn't help her if she tried to make one believe she was from around. To know where his armor came from, she would have to have been in touch with the Dwarves; knowing the Kael’dorei people traded with and lived as neighbors to the Dwarves, the chances were rather high. But still, these were all only suspicions, guesses and maybe flawed connections Azen made up; he had the bad habit of thinking he figured things out, when actually he was completely off-track... He would only have to keep talking to Rosso and try to see if his suspicions were right.

User Image"Hmmm... now you are laughing at... ehm... wrong words. Sk--... er... squee... Rosso calls all peoples by race... grr. Besides, Rosso is Human too, yes? Squee," was the half-growled reply, a dubious slitting of mismatched eyes visible over the rim of the mug that was half-muffling her words... yeah, blush was still there. She wasn't about to show that.

"Sooo... you have met... erm... gypsies? Learned Common from gypsies... yeah."

User ImageViolet eyes half-slitted at the news that one of the "newcomers" had escaped in the night... all kinds of implications as to what that could bring down on their small camp. But thoughts along that path came to a sudden, screeching halt at Ky's last few words... as did Asmyrra's steps. Angular features were blank for a moment, in pure shock... then she rounded on the poor squad leader, that anger flaring to life in her eyes once more.

"WHAT?! And you've not detained this person and put them under guard," was the furious question that exploded forth. The force of that first word, however, brought the faint feeling of some feathery tickling to the back of Asmyrra's throat, however... so the next words were hissed with a small level of restraint. "...I do, ever so sincerely, hope there is a tremendously good reason for this decision... and that you will share that reason with me immediately..."

Expecting this reaction from Asmyrra, Ky does not flinch when she turns her anger toward him. He responds calmly, "Of course Commander. The fact that they were present at the town does not incriminate them. I have had them both under twenty-four hour watch by my men, with strict instructions not to allow them any type of outside correspondence due to my suspicion. Unfortunately that is all I have, suspicion. I have no proof that either of them attempted to take your life. To act hastily and detain the both of them may have not only led to a waste in time and energy from our interrogators, but may have lost the use of two skilled allies. By keeping them close to us, and under constant watch, we may have a chance at revealing the would be assassin. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" I believe is how the saying goes. I was acting on the belief that coaxing ones prey into the open is more beneficial then burning the forest and forcing it into hiding. Yet if you would prefer the women to be detained then I will make it so at once, Commander."

Ky wraps up his last sentence a bit quickly, catching himself in a ramble. He bows his head solemnly in respect to Azmyrra, awaiting her command.

___Azen listened to Domini's new halfly growled reply. A small grin appeared on his face as he took a few seconds before answering back to the all too suspicious gal; he was rather amused though, even if the other party looked more like she was annoyed and defensive. "I assume your name is Rosso. Mine would be Azen Asgard. Azen will be fine. Though, miss Rosso, when did I doubt you of being a human? You seem to be rather... defensive about it when I don't recall mentioning a possibility of you being anything else but human. That is, unless you thought my words were suspicions?”

___Only a moment after his remark, the ale he had ordered a few moments ago finally reached the darker one. With a strong hand, he picked up the mug and drank a bitter mouthful; then with a satisfied sigh, he put the blond liquid down on the counter. "And you called me 'huge guy'; you did not call me by my race. But anywho. Yes, I have met gypsies in the past. A... good old friend of mine was actually one; a rather quick and witty one, that is. You have learned the common language from them?"

___Asgard brought his cup to his lips again, taking a slower sip from his drink to let the young Rosso respond. "If gypsies taught her how to speak common language, she definitively is not from these lands." Thought the heavy swordsman while sipping the bitter liquid.

User ImagePerhaps he didn't mean it, but... the grinning and poking holes in her words crossed the Rosso's paranoid mind as entirely too smug, and a little too prodding. Besides, the folk around here knew she spoke their words poorly, and instead let her coin and work speak for her. The innkeeper on the other side of the bar seemed to have an idea of what was about to happen, however... and he moved a few steps further away as that mug struck home forcefully atop the bar, the girl flaring to sudden, defensively angry life.

"When doubt?!," she screeched incredulously. "'Human lands.' 'Humans live'. Know Human lands! Rosso did not call big oaf Huuuuman because was trying to be po... ehr... polite! Squee!," was the sharp exclamation, those free hands fluttering in a flurry of agitated gestures, almost as animate as the young woman's features. Poor fellow... several of the other patrons were trying to ignore the situation at the bar now, being passingly familiar with the Rosso's temper flares... while several of the others were whispering amongst themselves, probably placing bets.

"Grrr... must not spend much... er... time!... time with gypsies, big man Human... Would have been run off! Sound like... like... like constable! K-... k-... knight! Cathedral male! Trying to confuse, twist words around...," Rosso scowled deeply at him, her voice starting to taper off with the last bit. As that glare took on a definitively suspicious feel, one of those very animated hands snatched her cocoa-flavoured rum up, unconcerned with the small amount that splashed free at the vigorous movement. Wheeling on him, she brandished the mug like some sort of poker, it's contents sloshing precariously with each jab aimed in his direction, accompanying her next words.

"Why so curious where Domini learn? What you sell? Why new person come, ask... err... quest-... questions! Brain voice better not say Rosso is... ehrr... thief. Constables accuse many times... always accuse Rosso..."

User ImageAs Ky's ramblings wound down, the blazing emotion so clear in those eyes dimmed faintly... or simply became less apparent as her features stilled, violet eyes slitting faintly as she watched him. She allowed her thoughts to tumble his words around for a mere second or two, before that thick accent emerged once more, it's very tone the embodiment of dubiousness.

"So... what you are telling me, or failing to not dissuade me from discerning, is that you are suspicious of these two because they are freshly arrived? And because it wasn't any sort of Elven village the Beast was attacking? Despite having no evidence that you've mentioned," Asmyrra queried, giving Ky a side-long look, as though watching his reactions very intently. "Either there is something dramatically more afoot that you've not told me, or... you've just made a very overenthusiastic accusation, and we need to really address the kind of comments you bring up..."

Ky blushed a bit. He knew he was prone to ranting, and he had a good feeling that what just came out of his mouth probably didn't sound good at all. He greatly disliked looking incompetent, especially in front of Commander Asmyrra. He cleared his throat and tried once more, "To answer your question, Commander, that is the very reason I have a suspicion. As far as our men could tell that village was inhabited by humans only. That is all I have to work from, and it is not much. It could be mere coincidence that they happened to be nearby when The Beast made its appearance. That is what I have surmised to this point. And I will admit that I may have gotten a bit overenthusiastic just now. The thought that you may have been killed in such a way could have blinded my reason."

User ImageAsmyrra shook her head softly, a hint of a rueful smile appearing despite her best intentions and military protocol. Instead, her left hand drifted out to lightly find, and squeeze, Ky's shoulder, while her right drifted up to her lips, concealing the faint darkening that had started to occur... a gift of the feathery tickling threatening to spasm it's way up from the depths of her wounded lungs. Once she was relatively certain of her voice, and lungs, not acting together to betray her, Asmyrra softly cleared her throat once, before allowing that accented purr to emerge once more.

"Instead of focusing on might-have-beens, let us instead look over the details we do have evidence on. You said there was a third person, but that she escaped some time during the night? And you had no serious guard detail assigned to her?

Ky appreciated her words of wisdom, then was forced to bow his head in shame at the last statement. "She was sent to the medical tent for fainting spells. She could hardly stay on the horse during the journey here. I didn't think she'd be able to sneak out of an encampment of soldiers. That was a great misjudgment on my part, and I take full responsibility for it. However, she was hardly armed in a fashion that would suggest she would be an assassin. She was nearly naked and extremely frail."
