____☾ When the finger points to the yonder мσση ☽ _←━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━ ━ ━ ⊱✩⊰ ╜ "Lives are inherently pointless. The only reason to take care of mine would be if it had meaning." Durithill replied stiffly. It was just like the kind of thing he would have said, making it seem as if nothing had changed. "We take care of the meaningful lifes, giving them a point, and ignore the meaningless ones, letting them die. That's the way the world works." ☆✰★ Theƒσσℓ will look at the fingertip ✩

Synthic glared at Durithill with a rage unlike any ever seen from Synthic, "How dare you...Those lives I ended...Those lives all had meaning, and it wasn't to be experimented on and left to die...Everyone's life has meaning! How dare you say otherwise! The moment you are born you have value and meaning! You nourish the lives of those around you, just like they nourish yours!" Her voice went into a yell. Tears started to fall down her face from frustration. How could this person even think that was the way things worked?!

____☾ When the finger points to the yonder мσση ☽ _←━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━ ━ ━ ⊱✩⊰ ╜ "And how many lives have you nourished?" Durithill replied calmly, as if Synthic wasn't yelling at him in a bloody rage. It was a simple, unassuming question, but Durithill guessed it would strike a nerve in Synthic based on what she was screaming. "I end lives. That's what I, as a dark magic caster, do. And when I can no longer end lives, tell me. What gives my life meaning?" ☆✰★ Theƒσσℓ will look at the fingertip ✩

Synthic's eye narrowed dangerously, but he had not hit any tender subjects. She's hitting them all on her own, "I spent my whole life making other creatures suffer a very long and painful death. I remember the names of all of them. There are thousands of them. Lives I could have saved, but didn't; because I wanted to stay alive. But now that I have found my meaning, I have started to save lives to atone for my sins. I don't even have to use my skills and I am nourishing those around me. Kir, Lily, Amaranth, Vexen, Rya, Kieran, Mer, Rachel, Kiendo..." She rambled the names for a while. Names of the people she had touched in some way, "And Durithill," She finished, "You just don't realize it, but you've affected the lives of everyone you encounter, whether you end their lives or not. So don't say life has no meaning again."

"That's true. In the end, all we are, are a bunch of proteins," Synthic said, "However, do you really believe that, if you died before I do, that I would forget you even existed?"

____☾ When the finger points to the yonder мσση ☽ _←━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━ ━ ━ ⊱✩⊰ ╜ "Yes." Durithill replied without hesitation. "The same way I'll forget you once we part ways. The human mind doesn't have an infinate capacity, and so for our continued survival we forget those things that aren't necessary for us to continue surviving." Durithill explained with a lofty air, as if he truely believed that to be true. It certainly seemed to be true for him. After all, he couldn't remember anything except studying magic, which was necessary for his survival. ☆✰★ Theƒσσℓ will look at the fingertip ✩

Daniel had lost Renata. They all had. Now she was the one being taken by Zen and his minions. He let out a sad sigh before turning to the subject the wolf and Synthic were fighting about. . "I'll remember you, Deimos." He quietly said, throwing in a small sentence to the conversation.

"Then you are a fool who gave up on life," Synthic said to Durithill and stood up, "I don't give a damn what you say to me. I don't give a damn what you do to me. But I will not simply forget you," She said frigidly and walked over to Daniel, who was still in shock from what happened, "Daniel, are you okay?" She asked in concern.

Daniel looked up to Synthic. He nodded to her question. Of course, he wasn't really okay. He had come back to life from Zen's grasp only to find Renata being taken into that same grasp. And the worst part was, he couldn't do anything to defend her at all. "I'll be fine." He said as he looked away. "But do you think we'll get her back?" He asked, speaking about Renata.

"She's going to come back," Synthic answered without hesitation. She knelt down and picked up the paper crane Kir left behind that had Daniel's name on it, "I'm sure little Kir will find some way to get her back," She placed the bird in Daniel's hands, "So have faith okay?" She looked up into Daniel's eyes. Her eyes were gentle and caring.

Daniel gave off another nod. Yes, she was right. She was going to come back. He couldn't think so negatively. He had to have.. faith. Synthic's eyes and tone gave Daniel some comfort from his current crisis. "What bothers me the most about her kidnapping was that I couldn't even stop it. Why are we humans so strong in spirit, but so weak physically?"

____☾ When the finger points to the yonder мσση ☽ _←━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━ ━ ━ ⊱✩⊰ ╜ "Like that gives my life any more meaning." Durithill scoffed when the two of them said they would both remember him. It didn't matter to him how many people remembered him: his magic was what gave his life meaning. Suddenly he started coughing again, bringing up a little more blood. With a small groan he layed down again. ☆✰★ Theƒσσℓ will look at the fingertip ✩

Synthic decided to ignore Durithill, "It's because we are so strong spiritually that we can do great things. With heart, we can overcome anything. We can scale unclimbable mountains, fight monsters barehanded, and love who we want to love. I have seen this strength time and time again; in Renata, and in yourself," Synthic said and placed a hand on Daniel's shoulder, "So right now all we can do is pray, so what? We'll pray as much as we can and Renata will be back here with us in no time," She smiled.

Daniel smiled back to her. "You're wise, Synthic." He said honestly. Suddenly Daniel didn't feel so good. He fell to his knees and began spitting up black blood. He held his chest tightly and it seemed to be causing a lot of pain. "... Synthic.. you worked on patients in the Academy.. does this mean you are a doctor?" He asked suddenly, keeping on his knees, and continuing to cough up black blood.
