I mean, though, did they REALLY have to put that in? To garner sympathy for him? People were gonna like Venom no matter what, giving him that backstory was just SOOOO typical of the times...

Well, I only picked it up starting when Wolverine showed up in the snow.
And I didn't pick it up because Wolverine was in it...my friend showed it to me (he'd been getting it for a while), and I was intrigued.

Ha. I'm gonna tell you anyway.
As far as I can tell? Because the artist wanted to draw a Venom/Wolvie symbiosis. That's how utterly pointless it turned out to be.
