Nyl Phairen "You think ijutsu can't wake someone up?" She considered his question. It was rather warm, but not overly so. "I like it. It's...tropical." "Good. That means you're used to it." He was taking it a bit slower with Nyl. Not because he was worried--she was the last person he had to worry about--but because she had never actually been burned. This was where he cut the umbilical, though. "Now. I want you to take your shoes off, and step onto that pit of coals."

Nyl Phairen "Only if you tell me first how it relates to learning Ho." "Fair enough. There is only one element that is more whimsical and free than fire. And that's Rai. You won't control this element by force alone. Having a stranglehold on it will make you feel more powerful, but ultimately, it will be your downfall. When the element feels too much pressure, it simple.. leaves you. It will not allow you to use it, unless you respect it. And in order to respect it--or the easiest and most solid way I've found thus far--you must be burned. When you know the pain of third and second degree burns, you learn how loose this element is. But you also learn how the pain of it can engulf you, strangle you, destroy you. And only when you come to realize this, will you be able to hold it within yourself. Will it allow you to hold it."

"Half of me is made of fire, you know. Well, fire and light. I'm pretty sure I respect it."
Shrugging, she pulled off both of her shoes and stepped without hesitation onto the coals. "How long do I stand here?" She was quite determined to show only the smallest flinches, if that.

"How long do I stand here?" She was quite determined to show only the smallest flinches, if that. He raised an eyebrow, then shook his head. This was strange. He knew she was fearless, but stepping onto coals that soared into the thousands of degrees at least made Tut hesitate. He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes. "It's not like you to be cocky, Nyl." He walked around the coals, crouching infront of her, picking up one of the coals. "I want you to hold one of these in each hand. Close your fists around it." He picked two coals up and held them out to her. "I don't think you understand the point of this excersize, Nyl. I'm not allowing you to heal these wounds with Ijutsu. The essence of fire is based in many emotions. Fear, Anger, Love, Hatred. It covers the whole spectrum. In order for you to.. to manifest this element, you first need to manifest your emotions. I see happiness in you when you smile, but I hardly see anger, or fear, or hate. When one of these emotions peaks, the Phoenix comes out, or Aurum let's his presence be known. This is unacceptable."

"You're in luck, then, because even human me can't heal herself. My own ijutsu doesn't work on me. Guess I'm at your mercy, huh?" She sighed. He was lecturing her.
"You hardly see hatred because I'm not capable of it. The closest I ever got was wanting to kill Serin. I'm not afraid of being burnt, though I will admit it hurts. A lot. ...And anger is another thing entirely." She sighed again, taking the coals from him. "I do understand the point, Sephiroth. I'll listen to what you say, but I will not stand here and be called unacceptable."

*as the session continued on the sweltering heat caused sweat to roll from Drake's brow and onto the ground... he considered summoning wind to cool himself down, but he decided on retreating back to the main dojo instead. Though he could fare well in the cold of winter, extreme heat was never something a nirvanix embraced. After he stood up carefully he slipped away as silently as he had entered*

"You may be my elder, Nyl, but you are also now my student, and I expect you to act accordingly while inside these walls.. You're not unacceptable, I never said that. Supressing your emotions is unacceptable."

"I want to see every single emotion that goes through your head. I want to feel it in my veins. When you get a pang of distaste, I want you to expand upon it. Do whatever it takes within your head. Use the pain! Use every ounce of your being! I want to feel your anger! Your distaste! Your love! Every ounce of drive within you, I want it used. Show me, Nyl. Show me the true, unhampered, YOU."

She looked at him for another long moment.
Tears started to fall, making little sizzling sounds when they hit the coals. But Nyl still didn't make any noise.

"I'm not furious, Seph. Really, I'm not." She was whispering. "I'm not upset. Not the way...you mean..."
She wasn't used to releasing any emotions. Years had taught her that showing emotions showed weakness. That it left her vulnerable and gave her enemies an opening. That all it got her was the loss of those she loved.
She fell to her knees on the coals, not noticing or caring. All she could do at that point was silently cry.

Before her knees hit the coals, they turned black, cool as ever. He stepped in and knelt down infront of her. "You cannot properly wield this element until you have the ability to control your own emotions. And suppressing them is not controlling them, it's killing them. You need to know your emotions. You need to know how they make you act. Like I said, Ho is directly linked to the users emotions. If you don't know how anger will make you act, you don't know how Ho will respond. And the same goes for any of your emotions." He put a hand on her shoulder. "We'll go again tommorrow, alright?"
