"A picnic would be great," Keegan replied, brushing the hair from his eyes and smiling up at Kasiya. It hadn't actually occurred to him just how late it was until now or that all his belongings were back inside Flannery's gym. He recalled Flannery's warning about not going back until they had worked things out, which he seemed to think they had done quite well. He stood up and stretched a bit too, sighing when his back made a quick popping sound. "I feel quite all right now," he replied, not wanting her to worry unnecessarily. It was the truth though, it had just been the heat from the gym and the battle getting the best of him.

Shaking the rest of his limbs loose, he turned in the direction of the city. "Let's go get our stuff then see about that picnic dinner," he said, starting to walk. Now that he thought about it, he was practically starving. It had been quite the busy day and a nice supper would be a good way to end it.

"Alrighty then," Kasiya said, and picked up the daisy from the rock before following Keegan back towards Lavaridge. She was becoming pretty familiar with the place now, as she had now spent a significant amount of time there. It didn't take them long to reach the gym, although when they arrived, they found their stuff sitting outside on the front steps. There was a sign on the gym door saying that it was closed, and Kasiya suspected that Flannery was probably in the midst of repairing the gym floor and any other damage that had been caused during that last battle. Kasiya picked up her backpack, amazed at the difference in weight thanks to the lack of her bike being there. She wondered if it would be fixed by the time they got back to Mauville to get it back.

After that it was an easy trip to the grocery store where Kasiya happily picked out a multitude of her favourite things to eat. She was also careful to buy enough food for her Pokemon as well, seeing as she wanted them to be healthy and energetic for her own gym battle tomorrow. She did, however, decide to leave it up to Keegan to pick a spot for them to have their picnic, seeing as he still knew the area much better than she did.

As soon as the shade washed over Larvitar and urges of dark energy could be seen pulsing in the darkness, Crenu recalled Larvitar to his pokeball. There was no reason to wait for the shade to dissipates, Larvitar's fate was sealed regardless of the damage that he would take. He was already hurt and tired, and in his condition that last attack may have finished him. Had that attack not been enough, Larvitar would come out of the attack confused and, already tired from the battle, unable to preform an effective attack on anyone but himself. He was out of this fight, the battle was over. As he peered upwards again to his opponent he saw that the same could be said for Ky and Little Guy. "...That final Night Shade through my calculations for a loop." He turned and started for the house, a small grin hidden in the side of his otherwise stoic mouth. "Never underestimate the human element...the pokemon element either." That last comment was out loud, but it was really meant more for himself.

Jaeshan frowned at the pudgy little fighter, his expressions mimicked by the young Combusken. He knew that at the very least, Fake Out wouldn't be able to be used again. "That's it," he grumbled, glancing down at the Fire-type. "Okay Combusken, give 'em your Flamethrower!" he shouted. The small Pokemon took a step forward, very happy to oblige her trainer's command as a powerful stream of fire erupted from her beak and spilled over the battlefield, engulfing the Makuhita if not completely. "Let's see how it likes that," Jaeshan chuckled.

Both the girl and her Makuhita were grinning when the flames died down, and Jaeshan and Combusken had to do a double-take at how healthy the Makuhita was after taking such a hit. "Surprised?" the girl asked, flipping her hair out of her eyes. "Thanks to Makuhita's Thick Fat ability, he takes much less damage from Fire and Ice-type attacks. Now Makuhita! Fight back with Tackle!" she shouted, and the Fighting-type dashed forward, shoulder lowered as it charged towards Combusken.

Okay, it may have that ability working for it, but at least we've got speed on our side! "Combusken, dodge it!" Jaeshan called, slicing the air with his hand. It wasn't often he got worked up like this during a battle, but for some reason he really wanted to win, if not to at least wipe that smug look off of the girl's face.

Ky wiped his arm across his eyes as he walked into the torn-up battlefield, carefully picking up his fallen Natu. As expected, Little Guy was out cold, though his slow, unhindered breathing made it look like he was in a peaceful slumber. Ky smiled as he scanned the various cuts and bruises that covered Little Guy's body. "Thanks Little Guy, Sting, Rex..." he said softly, giving a side long glance towards the pool Rex was resting near. He really couldn't have been any prouder of his Pokemon, nor could he have asked any more from them. Simply recalling the awesome battle they just had brought happy tears to Ky's eyes, which he promptly wiped away. "I really need to stop crying," he whispered, un-clipping his Pokeball to send Little Guy back.

Looking up, he wondered whether he had proved himself to Crenu. Not being able to see Crenu's face as he walked away, Ky couldn't tell anything except by overhearing Crenu's last comment, which brought a curious smile to his face. In a way, he felt indebted to Crenu. Without him, Ky couldn't have been brought to fight as hard as he just did. In fact, to become stronger, he couldn't imagine anyone else who he'd rather battle. This feeling was something new, something exciting, and he couldn't let Crenu just walk away from the battle they just had.

"Crenu!" Ky called out. "I don't care where you go or what you do, but if you're still looking for power, I am too! You wanted me to stay out of your way, but if I do that, you'll get stronger than me, and I'm not going to let that happen! I made a mistake when I said I wanted to be your friend. Truth is, I don't need you to be my friend..." Ky said coldly. Though Crenu's back was turned, Ky glared at him as if they were meeting eye to eye. "I need you to be my rival, and you will be my rival, like it or not!"
PostPosted: Thu May 22, 2008 5:18 pm

Barely listening, Ky's last words were the only ones that rang through his ears and actually caught his attention. A...a rival? the prospect of friends were new enough as it was, but Crenu had never even considered the existence of a rival. He supposed that every trainer was his rival, that anyone with pokemon who was training to be the strongest was his enemy, his competition. But the term rival...it was so much more than that, more than just simple competition. Some how it sounded more official, more real, more...personal. Having stopped at the door way Crenu turned his head only half way to look back at Ky with a cold heartless expression. "Do what you will, you still won't surpass me." Staring strongly at Ky, Crenu cracked and closed his eyes for a moment. "I guess I have no choice but to keep an eye on you. The both of you." He entered the house and slowly made his way back to his 'room' where the rest of his clothes were still folded on a chair.

The old man of the Daycare Center soon met with Crenu, standing just outside the doorway of the guest room. "Well, I sure hope you two got whatever you needed resolved. I haven't seen such a heated battle since I last went to watch the championship. I'd say, if you two had your Pokemon at their fullest forms, I don't think there'd be much of a house left!" he said with a chuckle, followed by a sigh. "But, best not be talkin' your ears off. I'm sure you have plenty to do, though it's good to see you've recovered so quickly. Had your friends not brought you here, who knows what..."

"WHAT HAPPENED TO MY YARD?!!!" came the familar voice of the old lady.

"Oh dear... Best be going before you get in trouble, young sir! Happy travels and come back anytime!" the old man finished before hurrying in the direction that Crenu came from.

Meanwhile, Ky stood eyes-wide-open as the old lady who he once thought as kind and forgiving was wielding a broomstick like some enraged samurai. "I, I just.... Crenu just...." Ky stuttered, not finding the courage to make up a good excuse. Losing his balance as he retreated backwards, he fell to the ground, shielding himself with his arms as he saw the lady with her broom raised to strike. Luckily, another hand grabbed the broom by the bristles, holding tightly.

"Now now dear, neither of these two had bad intentions. I'm sure Ky here will help us clean up the mess, won't you son?" the old man questioned with a smile.

Still wide-eyed with his arms protecting, Ky nodded quickly. Looking around, he realized that they had done quite a bit of damage, with rocks everywhere and holes in the ground. Granted, most of it was caused by Crenu, but he didn't want to pose as faultless.

To Ky's relief, the old woman soon relaxed, reverting back to her normal cheery self. "Sorry child. Please, go heal your Pokemon. We'll have a meal ready when you return."

And with that, Ky got up, walked over to Rex, and tapped the little croc on the shoulder. "Come on, buddy. It's time to get you healed."
PostPosted: Fri May 23, 2008 3:04 pm

"Heh, I'd probably still be bleeding in that clearing." Crenu spoke to himself as he got dressed. Hate to admit it, but the squirts saved me a lot of trouble back there. Not that I need it. I'd a been fine on my own, I'd a gotten to Celedon or even here on my own." His smile faded back to his usual semi frown as he began lacing up his shoes. "Can't have been coincidence that I ran into them though. Looks like I won't be traveling alone for a while whether I like it or not." Throwing his jacket on over his shoulders he made his way to what may have been a side exit. Breathing in the fresh air made him smile for a moment as he stared down at Celedon. It was very close and he needed to get to the Pokemon Center as soon as possible. "It's time to heal you bums, though I'm not sure you deserve it. Especially you Poliwag, I'm not sure I recall you winning any battles since I caught you." He spoke into his pokeballs, clipping each one back in their proper place one at a time. "Ky 'll catch up." He thought as he made his way down the small grassy hill away from the forest and towards the city. It was only now that his mind started to wander to various thoughts, one of them bringing forth the fact that he had not seen M.A. since the battle started.

Combusken was able to sidestep the oncoming Makuhita quite easily, and at Jaeshan's command, she countered with a sharp Peck attack, scoring a strong hit to the top of her foe's head. This caused the Makuhita to stumble back, but not for long as it rushed forward, fighting back with Arm Thrust at it's trainer's orders. Several of the blows were landed, but they only seemed to make Combusken angrier.

The next few rounds consisted of the two Fighting-types exchanging punches, kicks and blocks, and if Jaeshan didn't know better the two Pokemon could have been competing in some sort of boxing match. Combusken was much faster though, and it gave her a bit of an edge as she was able to dodge a lot more punches than Makuhita. This, however, did mean that she wasn't throwing as many in return, and by the time they pulled apart, both Pokemon were looking tired. "Double Kick!" Jaeshan shouted. Taking a deep breath, the Fire-type dashed forward, planting two solid kicks into the Makuhita's abdomen. This left her open though, and another set of Arm Thrusts were landed by the Makuhita.

Combusken's body was now glowing with the fiery orange aura, meaning her Blaze ability had kicked in. Jaeshan wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling the heat from the sun shining above. He couldn't help but smile though, and appreciate the Makuhita's strength. He knew Brawly of Dewford Island specialized in Fighting-types, and if he owned a Makuhita, he would have a good idea of how to counter it when it was time for that battle.

"Okay Combusken! Finish this! Flamethrower!" Jaeshan shouted suddenly, knowing that even with the Makuhita's ability, Combusken's Blaze serving as a power-up would most likely be enough to end the battle. The tired Fire/Fighting-type loosed another stream of powerful flames, the fatigue showing as she slumped a little when it was through. The Makuhita, however, used all the energy it could muster to tumble out of harm's way and completely avoid the flames. Both trainers were set on winning the fight, and both knew their Pokemon couldn't handle taking another attack. Without waiting for an order, the brave Combusken took a few steps forward and let another Flamethrower rip, putting her all into the attack. When the Makuhita moved to try to avoid it, Combusken moved with it, her attack making contact. When it was over, the Makuhita toppled over, unable to continue fighting. Combusken let out a sigh of relief and plopped down onto her behind, panting heavily. Only when the battle was over did her Blaze aura fade away, and she looked to Jaeshan and gave a cheeky thumbs-up.

"Well, I gotta say that your Combusken is amazing," the girl said, recalling her defeated Pokemon and clipping its Pokeball onto her belt. "The next time we battle, we're going to win." Her smile was genuine as she turned and walked away.

Jaeshan could only nod and look down at his Pokemon. "You really are something," he said with a chuckle, ruffling the feathers on the top of Combusken's head. She chirped as if to say 'well, duh!' and Jaeshan returned her to her Pokeball to rest. I can't wait to show Keegan how far you've come already, the blonde boy thought as he continued walking towards Rustboro City.

As Flygon settled south of Mt. Pyre on the hidden Route, Kilik hopped off and leaned against his dragon, closing his eyes and thought. It's a bit too late now... Kilik crossed his arms, but before the Beach Party, I should more-than-likely buy Brick Break for Elekid like I said I would. He punched his hand and sighed. "Let's get to work. C'mon out, Lairon!" He tossed the Great Ball containing his Steel-type monster, who crashed into the ground with great force. A roar echoed out across the grasses. Why was he out? What was going on? Who was he going to crush now?

"Lairon, I think training you is my top priority." He patted the beast on the head, "I've got two days to work you as hard as I can and that's just what I'm going to do. I know just how much you love battling." If Lairon could smile, he would be doing it right now. He fell silent and nodded, slamming his foot into the dirt. He was definitely ready for a battle. Kilik smiled too, and knew that his Pokemon was eager. "You'll be fighting all of my Pokemon, excluding Elekid. Once you manage to defeat them," the boy turned his back on Lairon and walked a few feet away, "We'll go to the Pokemon Center and heal up. But after that, it's right back to training. Got it?" Again, Lairon nodded. He knew the drill perfectly and roared loudly. This was going to be fun.

"Your first opponent is..." Kilik closed his eyes, felt around his belt then grabbed a sphere at random. He pressed the button to enlarge it into his hand then stared down at it, "Scizor! Let's go!" he tossed the ball with a flick of his wrist and his silent warrior emerged in a flash of light and blue sparkles. Not only will Lairon get some serious training in, battling with my stronger Pokemon... he smirked, but everyone else will get some training too! "Lairon, I'm not going to command you!" The Pokemon looked at his trainer then glared at his foe. It would be like it was in the wild, then: nobody to tell him what to do. Just him and the opponent, fighting to a bitter end. The only difference here is that Kilik would be stopping the match after a point.

"Ready, Scizor?" She nodded and clamped her claws shut, hearing Kilik's demand for a Quick Attack. Before she moved, Scizor wore a very confused look on her face. Quick Attack? Why such a weak move on Lairon? He'd resist it so well. Maybe that was the point. Without argument, she broke into a run, white light streaming behind her.

He could feel the attack coming on and managed to time it perfectly with a dodge. Lairon might've been large and slow, but as Kilik mentioned in the Aqua Base, he was a tactical master. With a bellow, Lairon charged forward with a Tackle. With little delay, Scizor turned her to her front to see the Pokemon coming towards her. If she were hit, it would feel like being smashed by a train, so dodging was the best option. With a jump, she flipped nimbly over Lairon and landed safely on the other side.

Dodging. I suppose it's a good way to start... Kilik scratched his head.

Jaeshan quickly arrived at the Pokemon Center, where he turned over all of five of his Pokemon for a round of healing. He couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for Beldum, as each time he'd used the Iron Ball Pokemon it had been defeated. It's attacks are limited though... Jaeshan thought, watching the nurse carry the tray to the back room where his Pokemon would undergo treatment. Maybe battling with other trainers just wasn't the way to go. Perhaps he should have Beldum train against his other Pokemon? Where the Steel/Psychic-type could gain experience without having to suffer defeat or being hurt in the process. He knew Butterfree wouldn't have a problem helping out, as the butterfly Pokemon had help from Jaeshan's Pokemon and more when evolving from Caterpie and Metapod. Kasiya's Pokemon also helped Butterfree evolve, he thought, remembering the little Zubat, Pikachu and Vaporeon all lending a hand, although Shocker had been more than reluctant to help.

He was sure Nidoking would be willing to lend a hand as well, and as an added bonus any attacks Beldum would land on the large Nidoking wouldn't leave it in any danger of becoming poisoned from the Drill Pokemon's Poison Point ability. However, convincing Nidoking to go easy on the inexperienced Pokemon could be a problem. Nidoking wasn't one to hold back. The nurse returned Jaeshan's Pokemon with a cheerful smile and a pleasant "Please come again." He thanked her and wandered over to one of the sofas and sat down, still trying to think of a way that he could help Beldum become stronger and also help it be more confident in itself.

The Rocket lady looked at the Phanpy derisively. "That's what you send out to fight me?" She didn't need to say anything else; she didn't need to to make the meaning clear. 'What weaklings; what a waste of time' was the equivalent.

Tora was infuriated by the woman's remarks, and without M.A.'s saying a single word, abruptly spun into a little ball and began to spin rapidly, scattering dust and rocks all around (much to M.A.'s surprise as she hopped backwards) before flying for the Nosepass.

Behind her, Michael clicked almost silently in disapproval. This one looked unruly. Where was Jin? What was taking him so long? Perhaps the Pokeballs had scattered when the woman's bike crashed.

One moment, Tora was heading right towards the Nosepass... and the next, she slammed into the tree directly behind it. What the heck? Where'd it go?

The Rocket laughed mockingly. "She couldn't hit the broadside of a barn! Nosepass, show 'em how it's done; hand 'em a Rock Slide!"

With a grunt, the rock reached into the ground and pulled up a ridiculously large slab. With a couple rapid spins, it finally let the chunk loose, and M.A. watched in horror as it rapidly honed in on her little dazed Phanpy.

"Tora, move!" she cried, hoping her mind was clear enough to listen to her. The Phanpy fortunately got the message, although scrambling away didn't help her much -- the rock shattered on the tree, breaking it and half and shattering into smaller pieces that collided into the Phanpy nevertheless. Tora let out a small cry, wobbling out of the mess. It'd been a rock-type move, but considering how much its indirect damage had caused Tora, a ground-type...

It was about then M.A. realized she was out of her league. "Try to keep going a little while longer," Michael called from behind her, his voice strained. If she couldn't hold her off until Michael got his Pokemon back or until the authorities came, the Rocket would be able to make off with all those Pokemon.
PostPosted: Sat May 24, 2008 9:02 am

For the first time yet in battle, Tora looked afraid. Her eyes flickered from the menacing rock in front of her to M.A. behind her. The girl gritted her teeth; she hated having Tora continue this battle, but she was the only one who wouldn't be so screwed over the a Rock-type. "Please hang on in there," she murmured, closing her eyes as she wished she could come up with some strategy that would save the day.

Tora only had one move that could do any real damage, and that was Rollout. But it was hard to get to her once in the midst of the move, and she was highly unpredictable.

Hey, wait, that could help!

"Tora, I want you to do a Rollout. But wait, wait a moment! Don't stop, or you'll be a sitting target. Keep moving!" she said, a bit of desperation in her voice. It might work. Or at least keep the battle going on a little longer. Her mind roved for other possible options. Hmm. She could have Ulani come out and Sing. But wouldn't that be wrong to have two against one?

Well, if not, she would steal all those Pokemon, and that was worse. Her scruples would have to be managed with at another time.

"Ulani! Please help out a little, and avoid a hit from that rock at any cost," she said as she released the Pokeball into the air. The little blue bird fluttered in the air prettily before noting the tension. Oh dear.

"Tsk tsk," the woman said, shaking her head. "That's not fair. I'll have to even the field," she said, smirking. She threw a black Pokeball into the air with a flick of her wrist, releasing a green Pokemon M.A. had never seen before.

"Grooovyle," it said, taking a fighting stance. Mary-Anne bit her lip, suddenly feeling very small and alone.

Michael frowned deeply. It was evident now that she wouldn't be satisfied with just winning; she wanted to crush them. He got up slowly, his ribs still aching and protesting against his lungs, but otherwise fine. "Reminds me not to wrestle with Nosepass," he mumbled. Nevertheless, he came to his sister's side, rubbing her arms with his broad palms. "Don't worry, I won't let anything happen here," he muttered soothingly.

But even he didn't know how he'd honor that promise without his Pokemon. Jin, hurry!

The battle went very, very badly from there on out.

The Rocket lounged on the ground, watching with something almost like blood-thirst as she watched her Pokemon toy with the two far less experienced ones. Only every once in a while did Ulani or Tora get in a decent hit, but it wasn't ever enough to get even close to knocking them out. And M.A. could do nothing about it, biting her lip; Michael's presence held her back from running into the fray herself, perhaps giving a good uppercut to that woman's jaw. Chances were, though, she'd only end up worse off than Michael ended up; one of her Pokemon were sure to intervene. A human's power had nothing on a Pokemon's, after all.

The girl's faced distorted with pain as she watched her Pokemon try their best to avoid the attacks as best they could to little avail, as she watched the Rocket's Pokemon brushed off their attacks as if they were only annoying pesks. "Please let it stop," she said, unconscious that she had said it out loud. Michael gritted his teeth.

Suddenly, a crash and roar behind them halted all attention to the battle. Or should I say, several crashes and roars.

For behind them were dozens of dozens of Pokemon, the ones the Rocket had stolen, stomping towards the scene like some crazy horde. In the very front, leading the pack to the scene, was Jin, practically laughing as he danced in the air.

The Rocket cursed a long string of profanities under her breath. "Damnit, I should have brought more of our balls," was one of the very few things that M.A. could distinguish, though its meaning was beyond her. She looked between the stampede and M.A. and her brother frantically, seeing that there was nowhere to go.

"Rosa, up heeeeeeeere," a voice called very distantly from above.

Another fellow with similar attire was far above their heads, letting down a ladder from something that looked like a small blimp. "Please grab a hold, m'lady."

A blush filled her face as she grabbed onto the ladder and scrambled up after having recalled her Pokemon. She gruffly called back something along the lines of, "Can't make a normal appearance, can you, Jax?"

Michael had just regained his Pokemon at his point, but before he could get one 'Hold it!' out, the woman had scrambled up and the ladder was gone.
