It's all about celebrating the day of the Declaration of Independence. The day of freedom from England in the year 1776. On July 4, 1776, Declaration of Independence was signed signifying our freedom from England and creating the United States. (I hope that's right. sweatdrop ) They made coins commemorating the 200th year anniversary of the United States. They are the Bicentennial coins. They were released in 1976.

I'm from Belgium in Europe, so it's kinda logical we don't celebrate the 4th of July here. I was just wondering how it goes there, since I've heard a lot about it.
