Feng blinked, "Really?"
She had to think about it, but she didn't know that many elves so, she turned to her sister while blinking at what Lin was doing.
"Lin, do the older elves talk like that?"

Lin looked up from where she was trying to put a bread hat on top of her snowman's head. She frowned up at her big sister, like it was the sillest thing in the word.
"Well I don't know! I don't know how this person talks like, I have to talk to him first now don't I? Though I've never heard of it. Sir Valmedar only talks about interesting stuff like language and history. Things maybe pretty, but who wants to talk about it all the time?"
Donovan mused a bit, looking between Ulrich and Feng. The man was not serious right? But he was and Ulrich knew who he was hiring, "I want to talk to him first, I'd rather know the person I have to stay with for two weeks or more at a time."

Ulrich nodded. "Of course. If you'd like I can introduce you after lunch. He's on duty, but he doesn't mind taking out a few minutes to chat."
To himself he added, Unfortunately.
"I'm sure you'll get along just fine," he grinned.

Donovan wondered if he should worry a bit, though he couldn't really think of a good reason to say no. After all, they had talked about this the last time he came back and it was wiser for Donovan to go with someone.
"Sure," Donovan replied as he began to finish up his meal, "I would like that."
"Can I come too Daddy?" Lin looked up at her father with the widest eyes (without trying) that anyone had ever seen.
"Sure."

Ulrich nodded. "That would be fine. I don't know if Triton would want to come, as well ... will Triton be traveling with you on your trips?"
He glanced at Triton curiously.
Aliya grinned at Feng and Ryu. "And this afternoon we can actually see about getting the two of you on a horse!" She turned serious again. "Just be prepared for an aching backside and a lot of energy usage."

"Well," Ryu mused as he was finishing off his lunch, "That might not be a bad thing for some of us."
He gave his sister a look who was trying to eat without bouncing, though what she ended up doing was turing back into a mer (how she managed to not slip off the chair was beyond some people), and her tail was merrily thumping on the ground.

Triton shook his head, he was seriously not wanting to take part of in the hunt, if he had to defend so be it, but otherwise. Besides, he wouldn't be able to keep up and not from the lack of trying.
"I would need to learn to ride first," he murmured, "And I don't really want to be hunting."

"Understandable," Ulrich nodded seriously. "It's a hard task, setting out with the purpose of taking a life. I do agree that in this case especially, it's necessary, but it's best not to immunize yourself against that kind of action."
He grinned at Donovan. "No offense. My son ..." He trailed off momentarily, then continued, "Terexin was an assassin for many years."
Aliya laughed at Feng. "You'd have a bugger of a time trying to ride like that," she giggled, pointing at her tail. "Forget bareback, you'd have to ride sidesaddle!"

Feng pouted a bit, "It's hard to stay human all the time," she murmured, "And I like it like this!"
Besides it was lunch hour and she didn't have to worry about anything, except many drying out a bit.

Donovan nodded, somehow thinking back on Texexin, some of the obeservations he had about the man made sense. It kind of clicked in why sometimes Tex would look at him at a certain way, after all sometimes it took an assassin to catch one.
"None taken," Donovan murmured, "I know it's a fine line to balance."
Besides Triton didn't need that lesson, it got that during his first visit here. So Donovan wouldn't make him if the man didn't want to.

Triton nodded at that, "I've already been in my share of fights without meaning to."
Though the Four Lands was the first place where he actually had to take a life.

Haradhel stared at Feng soundlessly for several moments, and finally she turned to Donovan and grinned. "Well, I guess now I know what you meant." She laughed.
Elrohir shook his head slowly, but he was grinning as well. "I told you I wouldn't be able to believe it until I saw it for myself," he chuckled.

Aliya laughed at Feng. "Well, you won't be getting anywhere near the horses like that, so enjoy it while you can," she grinned.
She finished her food and pushed her plate away. "Ready when you are," she grinned at the twins. "But don't rush yourselves."
Ulrich nodded. "When it becomes easy to take a life, you've been doing it for too long," he murmured. Then he glanced at Triton and nodded. "Don't let yourself get used to it. Killing, I mean. Fights can't be helped. Sometimes killing can't be, either. But don't let it not matter anymore."

Feng giggled at Haradhel and Elrohir's comments, she always liked to suprise people like that. Turning back to Aliya she began to finish off her lunch.
"Don't worry, no worries," Feng smiled.

"You at least Elrohir, I would have thought to have a bit of belief," Donovan smirked, "You travelled with two winged beings, a cat person and a griffin."
A very lovable griffin he added mentally.
