((This is how he looks like, Tai...though the current outfit isn't that yet.

http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/7039/shinratsu3no1.png ))

The village tonight...

From his seat (a bench in the town square), Shinratsu calmly observed the festivities with some hint of satisfaction, though with a somewhat distant air...as if he was only a bystander watching the people of Iwa celebrate the closing of one year. One year. He had been in this village for one whole year now...

The passing breeze toyed with his long snow-coloured bangs, his eyes growing heavy from the pondering of that thought, before closing them slowly...until long pale lashes brushed against his cheek. To the passing bystander who was still not used to this child's presence in Iwa, it would seem as if the boy was a sleeping doll. But Shinratsu was not a doll in that sense... Perhaps, physically the fragility of his build was somewhat glaring. However... Since from the time he first entered the village Academy, he was no longer as helpless...

Around this time, Kiri should be having their Winter Festival too. The thought came somewhat bitterly, but also with a hint of melancholy. The nostalgic memories...of how Kiri's marble inlaid streets will be lit aglow by the splendor of the aurora borealis... White mirroring emerald fire, washing over the village like the great mother ocean, sweeping Kiri into her arms...

A flicker of eerie green light. Shin opened his eyes. "..." The sky. A small smile slowly crossed his lips. Ah. How ironic. So the borealis blesses Iwa too. Now the same as it appeared in Kiri...here in this village a great arc... The arc of this year he had crossed through to end where he was presently.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File razz olarlicht_2.jpg

But he shouldn't spend the whole festival contemplating... He had some money with him from the previous mission, after all...perhaps he'll find something that'll interest him. Delicious aromas pervaded the streets all around the town square, after all, from vendors selling shish-kabobs, fried chicken, or roasted nuts. Shin fiddled with the sleeve of his yukata, a plain white one with dark-blue, near gray, yukata pants. He wasn't really hungry...and he didn't...really feel like joining in on the games...

But taking a look around wouldn't hurt. So his mind made up, young master Fubuki went to the nearby vendor.

Taishirokus pitch black eyes were soon illuminated by the sight of the borealis as he looked upward. His smile widened at the sight as his fond memories of kiri soon filled his mind and took him to a time of past pleasures and joy.

His mind became clouded with the memories of his mother sitting him down upon the docked boats they held behind their house. She would show him pictures and reveal the architectual history behind them all. He instantly remembered how her fingers would trace along the designs upon the door as if she were touching them herself.

The flash back instantly faded form his mind as he remembered he was running. He had long past ran through the entrance of the village and was just running wildly. He was surprised he had yet to run into anyone but the people of the village were smart enough to step away form his path.

He attempted to stop himself through slamming his left foot upon the ground. Instead of halting his movements he succeeded in throwing himself forward into the stand of a fried chicken booth. His legs slamming into the actual booth and his head hitting the seat resting upon it.

There he laid, dangling from the booth and his arms hanging upon the ground. He laughed a little top himself before reaching up and slapping his forehead. He soon noticed the eyes of those who witnessed him and the man who owned the booth.

Eh... sorry?

((Will be off to dinner/piano practice soon. xO))

A fried chicken stand.

Shinratsu crinkled his nose a little, it was...inelegant...besides, being a totally unhealthy choice of food. The owner looked at him kindly and asked if he would prefer anything. The young Hyouton prince just looked calmly in response, before a dismissive gesture with his hand.

BANG!

Shinratsu stepped aside, looking unperturbed by the sudden missile...or rather, upon closer inspection...some crazy Academy Student. Hmph. Which idiot would want to merge himself with such a stand, anyways? At least choosing a better food stand would've been somewhat worth it...

Wait a minute. A flicker of recognition slowly crossed his own gray-blue orbs the longer his gaze fixed on the 'missile'.

Okami-sama... You got to be kidding.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 29, 2008 4:40 pm

Taishiroku slowly slid his way off of the chair to the booth and raised to his feet. He sighed for his wet hair became dirtied from the stand. He did not care much for his clothing. He combed his fingers thoroughly egtting all of the dirt from his lockes.

He looked toward the owner and signaled his regret and deepest apologies bowing to the man continuously. He rose from his bow ready to walk away from the stand before hearing the words You got to be kidding. the voice sounding oh so familiar...

He quickly turned toward the direction of the voice noticing the familiar depressent face. The same gray-blue eyes that were always oh-so judgemental. The same figure to except for much more mature. He soon jumped and pointed an excited finger toward him exchanging his smile with an excited grin.

"AH-HA!!! I knew i would run into you shin-chan!!"

(Calling shin a girl using the -chan honorific.)

((It was actually a thought, lolz.))

"'scuse me, young man...do you know this fellow...?"

Shin considered his options quickly. This person knows his face, so it would only be a temporary diversion. "I have never seen him in my life." The young Hyouton clan head deadpanned. His tone of voice, expression, were all oh-so-convincing.

Except for the veinpop at the temple that gave it away.

Just his luck. Of all the people that could've come from Kiri, why him? It irked Shin, too, just to consider all the questions that would surely be hurled... At least if it was any other, he could terrorize them and escape interrogation... Speaking of which...should he make a break for it?

"'scuse me, young man...do you know this fellow...?"
----

Taiushiroku raised his eyebrows at the owners response. He soon released a cheerful laugh from his stomach and walked himself beside shin-chan. He wrapped an arm around shinratsus shoulder and gently patted him on the stomach.

"Shin-chan isn't a young man.. she's a pretty girl."

He said being truthful to his thoughts. He soon realized that shin denied having knowledge of his existance and simply smiled at shin with a wide grin.

"do not lie. I got my ear pierced the first time we met! remember... kirigakure... fishing in school? I fish better than you AND i have a better memory! What else do you suck at shin-chan?"

Chisaki came to her senses again when she felt something tugging on her hands. Looking to see what is was she noticed it was Giglamesh. Her face brightened as she willingly came upon the stage. She didn't come along to be down on the holidays. The song that had come up next was a karaoke version of Smile. dk's butterfly. Seeing as though nobody else was on the stage besides the three, she took the liberty of singing. She didn't care if it brought a bad memory. That stuff could wait until later. She could tell that everyone else was having a fantastic time. Even so, Giglamesh looked drunk. Bah! Who cares if he was drunk. Speaking of which, her spirit's were already lifting. She kept up with the song's pace and the songs rhythm. For some reason she felt relaxed when she sang. It lifted her spirits beyond one's beliefs. The change in her mood was almost instant. She didn't mind having the crowd stare at the three of them. Heck she was even dancing as she sang. It was her outlet. Nothing more, nothing less. Why she had even became a shinobi was unknown. Her strengths were in singing.

...is this guy for real...?

Shin didn't even bother casting his glance aside at Tai, but his tone was unimpressed. "...don't act so friendly with me..." Actually, who gave the other permission to even touch him...?

A perfect eyebrow arched. "Hn. Who takes the time to remember every dobe they run across?" Yet, this time, Shin did make eye contact, with his usual steady gaze. How amusing. Between the two of them, they very well know...however, in this village...Shin preferred keeping his perfect recall a secret. The ability to memorize anything that was looked at even once... It was...a gift with repercussions, anyways. Head of class during their days at Kiri Academy, yet just because Shinratsu was worshipped by the female students didn't mean the male students felt the same. Or...to be more exact, he was often the target of their cruel jokes.

Fubuki-kun...why don't you have your textbook open...?

Snickers from the back of the class.

Oh, sensei. But Shinratsu-kun doesn't need it...right? He probably has it all memorized.

The truth was, they took it...

Hn. Like he could help it...information just...sticks into his head. However, one particular student...no matter how far behind, would never give up sticking like a wart to his business. Taiushiroku, the scion of one of Kiri's nomadic lines... And came up right to Shinratsu, challenging that he will prove the Fubuki heir's legendary photographic memory wrong.

Shin's family replaced the textbook. As a noble family, they were extremely wealthy...so purchasing a new book was no problem. However...the next time the same group of students snuck to his locker during lunchtime and attempted to steal his book...Shin was already there waiting, cornering them. But he didn't have to land a hit on those students...to his surprise...

BAM. One of the kids clutched a bruised jaw. It was Tai who punched that kid, declaring he didn't need help to win 'his battle against Fubuki'.

With the elapsing time, graduation day slowly crept closer. So, during one of those challenges, Tai challenged Shinratsu to a fishing contest. The Fubuki prince never fished before...why should he, anyways? It was such a...mundane sport. That was the first time the two boys spent the day together without delapsing into argument. Tai helped him attach the bait to the hook...except...

Shinratsu swung the fishing rod too far back and the next thing he knew, his companion was prancing around, clutching his ear... Since it was his fault...oddly enough, it was...almost...amusing...the first time he had ever made a mistake... Shinratsu tried helping Tai bandage the wound, except he accidentally froze the wound. The next hour or so were spent with both panicking, until the ice thawed.

It was strange...Shin actually apologized for injuring Tai...and this time, helped apply medicine from his own clan's first aid kit, and cleaned the wound properly. The rest of that afternoon was quiet... Tai did joke about telling the world that the so hailed prodigy wasn't perfect... Though, by the end of the day, somehow Shin managed to get more fish than Tai. Shin got accused by his companion of being a bad luck charm to Tai's own fishing prowess...

The last trout he caught, which also happened to be the largest, Shinratsu aimed it right at Tai's head. He let the other keep it. It wasn't like he was really going to eat his catch anyways...

Unexpectantly, the Kiri prodigy smiled...ruefully, there was a certain sadness to it...yet... Kiri wasn't really all full of cold memories... Perhaps...the process of opening up... ...had actually begun back in that island village... ...before his clan had declared the Academy's prelimanary years were unnecessary... That they would train the heir themselves. Children in Kiri begin attending the Academy as young as 5. While they might not really learn anything at that age, mostly, it was just the basic introduction to Kiri history and shinobi fundamentals.

And his world that were just briefly becoming larger...was suddenly shut again... The next time they met at the Academy, years later, Shinratsu was unreachable. It was as if...all emotions were drained, a rejection of the whole world. The training he had endured under his clan elders...was harsh, after all...borderline cruel.

Two brothers...

...by the decree of fate...

Taishiroku took a couple of steps away, his endless black eyes looking directly into shinratsus with complete ignoration of the world around them. His smile grew wider as he reached up with his left only allowing the ends of his fingers to gently p***k at the hook he wears as an earing. Just so happens to be the same ear Shin pierced.

"Well don't be so mean Shin-chan, I just missed seeing cute girls like you! ....Actually...."

His head dropped as the wet lockes of his hair drapped over his face. His mind began to drill upon the subject as his fingers kept tickling the lobe of his ear. Actually... Is shin a girl?... I always assumed he was a guy... hmm only way to check.. His smile widened as he looked upward and the hair followed his movements, the tendrils of hair making a gap so he oculd see.

His hands thrusted forward placing them upon shins chest. His fingers lightly pressed into shins chest trying to feel if there was any extra luggage upon shins chest.

Hmm.... No breast here i suppose... but she could be flat chested..

Keiko left the man behind the two more coins. It was the holidays and they were working, they had to get some credit out of it. Keiko sighed and walked over to find Gig, it wasn't that hard seeing that he was up on stage singing...out of tune.

Keiko walked up and stood next to Chi and listened to Gig and Mai. At the same time she listened in on other people's conversations, ah, it was good gossip. Then a voice stood out to her, it was a distance away, however she knew this voice, "Shin" she whispered to herself. She hadn't seen him in forever, and she needed to make sure that boy was eating and staying healthy. She waved at Gig and then grabbed the bag and walked off to find Shin.

Cold air hit Keiko's face as she walked out of the ramen stand over to a fried chicken stand. "At least I know he is eating." She said to herself, she smiled, "Shin!" She walked over to the boy and gave him a quick hug, "Eh! You are still thin as a stick! What happened to those cooking lessons?!"

If the sounds of patience snapping could be heard... Oh! Was that just Shin's?

"PERISH." The next thing the bystanders would know, there was Shin trying to strangle Tai. Hey, how did he have a kunai out so quickly anyways? Oh! There Shin goes trying to kill the other.

A voice made Shin stop short. Oh my kami-sama... Oh no. Kami-sama couldn't be so cruel...right? Of all the people to have seen that, why, why...!? Shin resumed to trying to kill Tai. "...my gravest apologies that you will be one (Academy) student short...Keiko-sensei..." Hm...seems cooking lessons weren't the priority right now, killing Taishiroku came first.

Anyone who knew the truth would've noted: Oh. So he still couldn't bring himself to call Keiko 'okaa-san'.

Taishiroku laughed meerily at the feel of shins hands aroudn hsi throat. He impled turned toward the person who shin was addressing as Keiko-Sensei and waved toward her. Soon Taishirokus smiled faded away and looked toward shin with calm eyes that showed no sign of emotion.

"Well... Seems like we both have social issues."

He laughed a bit and simply wrapped his arms around shinratsus middle. With one movement he adjusted his shoudlers udnerneath shins arms and moved shin close to him. He could almost feel shins heart beating against his. He simply sighed still feeling shins hands against his neck but he just embrassed shin holding him close..

"Your my only friend...And i won't abandon you... Even if i was too perish by your hands.."

Keiko sensed awkwardness. Maybe it was the wrong time to see Shin, but she hadn't seen him for so long and he always hides. Shin meant so much to her, she had been there for him and she wanted to see him grow strong and see him go through life. It was the motherly thing to do, since Shin didn't have anyone to go too.

"Uhm, interesting." She looked at the boy and smiled, "Ah, I see that the holidays bring in a bunch of new people." Keiko smiled and moved away from Shin, "I'm Keiko, the head academy teacher. Who might you be? A friend of Shin?"

He stopped cold, his eyes widening in surprise at the sudden embrace. At first he struggled as in annoyance, but then stopped...allowing the taller boy to hold him. Tai's words...suddenly made him really afraid. He had lost everyone once already...what if...? "I..." He whispered, dropping the eye contact. "I already did something that can't be forgiven. It would never be the same, as that day, in Kiri...when we first met..." A pause. "So don't say such things." He could never kill Tai...

He...returned the embrace...? "I'm...glad that you're ok..." Shinratsu leaned in toward Taishiroku's ear and dropped his voice. "However...I can't go back to Kiri. I can't rest...until I destroy that village..."

Was there...a chilling note in his last words? Shin broke contact, and looked away. "Because, Kiri too, did something unforgiveable." His soft voice, the quiet promise...was so contrasting to the joyous festivities ongoing in Iwa...

The colder, darker side of him was hidden again as quickly as Tai had glimpsed.

Taishirokus eyes widened as Shin replaced the embrace... What was he to do?.. kiss her? He wasn't completely sure shinw as a girl but.. weird. He shrugged his shoulders forgetting the subject. His eyes widened at the last words he heard come from Shins mouth... "...until I destroy that village.."

The wind was cold against his face and for the first time he could feel the water that was within his hair grow cold and it forced a shiver down his spine. He took a step forward and gently placed his hand upon Shins shoulder holding it firmly.

His smile grew widely across his face creeping in upon the ongoing darkness of the conversation.

"Goals are often common between friends.. Why should this one be any different?"
