La Veuve Zin lymelady Awesome! By the way...I think an embryo has a heartbeat after 3 weeks, not 8. Can anyone verify that? "The [fetal human] heart and nervous system begin to function by the end of four weeks." (King. (1999). Human Sexuality Today, 3rd ed., 181. ) I probably totally botched that citation...it's been ages since I wrote a proper research paper... Excellent textbook, btw, by one of my favorite professors. Very balanced in its discussion of abortion, including the current social controversy over it. Thing is, though, not everyone develops at the same rate (obvious when you look at, say, 1-15 year olds, but people tend to forget this applies to fetuses as well). A new research states that the nervouse system dosn't finish forming untill about 21 weeks. Whats interesting is this study's lead auther and co-auther were both pro-choice and the lead auther has done stuff for PP in the past...

I.Am I meant you can always find it for bittorrent. 3nodding 'Course, that's slightly not legal, but... It still works. 3nodding Searching for Lost s02e01 (Or e02, and so on, through e23, I think?) on a bittorrent search site will find them. Ooh, good idea. You just saved me from going crazy. whee

I wouldn't expect it to *finish* forming until shortly before birth...the question is when does it start working. But still, there's no set point at which a fetus goes from vegetable to fully functioning human--it's a continuum, and they gradually acheive consciousness, sensory processing, cognitive function, etc. And that's why I'm pro-life--I figure, meh, let's just say it's bad to kill humans from the very start of their existance, err on the side of caution.

That's exactly how I feel, Veuve. 3nodding They say you can't prove it's a person, but you can't prove it's not, so isn't it better to act like it is? Just in case?

you can't PROVE the existence or sentience of any human, or even anything if you want to take it so far. science even admits that there is no such thing as "proof". theorems, though accepted as fact, are really only the hypothesies which are most plausible.

I'm definitely dressed up and ready to go...to my engagement party.
See...my parents want Terje to meet the family, so, they're throwing a party for both me and my sister, since she recently got engaged too, and our respective fiances (her fiance's family will be here too.) and if the two of them don't run away screaming after tonight, we know...they'll stick with us through anything xd

anyone here either 1- an electrician
or 2, not horrible at electronics?
if so, i would like to know where i may find a source of DC power sufficient to turn a nail into rust, when put in a glass filled with ater and a little salt. will a AA battery do it, or do i need something with more oomph?

wait... a lemon? i know things of the sort conduct electricity, yes... but doesn't that require a power source which can be connected with loose wires for which to put into the lemon? and where would the nail fit into that concoction? i think i'll go with one of those double-pronged D batteries and some copper wire

That hilarious man. Sorry, really sorry. Have you thought about using a line of D batteries? I'd suggest one of those over sized batteries that go into electric lanterns and the sort. You know, the big squar ones, but they're not quite car batteries?
