Hawke grunted. "Haven't talked to Osiris since he...disappeared." He avoided looking at Anatoly, but the teacher could feel the accusation anyway.
"Stark's gone too? This is...bad." He ran a hand over his face as he drove. "He might be an enemy, but he was powerful, and we need him in this fight. s**t." Hawke drove on in silence.

"Wait wait waitwaitwaitwaitwait, Osiris disappeared? What happened? Didn't he ever come back after, the, when they fought?" Anatoly queried. He was beginning to miss the Letter Opener of Doom.

"He hasn't cropped up since," Hawke grated softly. "No word. This hasn't happened before. Osiris is pretty much...gone."
Damn, Anatoly was getting really uncomfortable.

"I... sorry, I guess. I don't really know what to say about this," Anatoly replied unsteadily, scratching his neck and staring out the window. "You recovered those stickers I jacked from the dealer? I have some guys - a few of Starks' Blazers, a few Guardians - I've been with as we try to figure out what's happened. We should meet them."
If Hawke was receptive, Anatoly would provide directions. After all, he'd jacked those stickers so they could fight IR on even ground together....

"13 or so," Hawke responded. "Well, they're not mine, they're the Generals of the Guardians. I'm just the one in command of them."
He sighed. "Well, where do we go to?"

Within 20 minutes, they were at the motel. However, their compatriots were not, though the two Blazers could feel the lingering energy from the activation of multiple Mystickers.
"Something happened here..." Hawke murmured. "Let's check it out. Maybe we can find some indicator of what happened."
They searched for half an hour but found nothing that would help them. Hawke groaned. "Do you have some kind of communication with them?"

"Good sir, you expect a much greater degree of coordination, sensible judgment, and efficiency than a group of straggler-survivors from the massive beatdowns our organizations underwent can be justifiably expected to have," Anatoly rambled as his mind raced as to what could've possibly happened. "We should get Kitt from the police station then check wherever your generals were meant to bring my allies," he suggested. "If Kitt gets captured..." He shook his head. He couldn't let that happen. "Just... we need to pick her up before we continue."

Hawke raised an eyebrow as he studied Anatoly. There was more going on with those two than was apparent, but it wasn't Hawke's business. "Hm. All right. I'm hesitant to add another Blazer Black to our group, but I suppose it must be necessary. From there, we'll try to link up with more and get a real team going."
He climbed halfway into the car before stopping. "Oh, and kid?" Anatoly looked over to meet a very piercing, dangerous stare. "Try anything, and I will literally remove you from this world. Goes for your friends too." He climbed into the car and waited.

Anatoly got in the car as well. "You really think I'm going to ******** try something? You really think so?" He demanded, staring at Hawke. "We have bigger issues right now, okay? I know, blah blah Anatoly is a terrible person blah blah he's a poison to everyone around him and he kicks puppies and stabs children and seriously <******** you. I've made mistakes. You're not perfect either, I'm sure. So don't act like I get off on stabbing people's backs, okay? People have to make decisions based on their experiences. Maybe I thought that for once in my life I could do something on my own power and not have everyone walk all over me. I should've known better. But don't treat me like some sort of madman who has nothing better to do than backstab people. Do. Not." He abruptly became silent and stared out the window.

"You assisted in the attack and defeat of a great man who to that point had tried to do nothing but make you better than you were before; to help you. And you, for no reason other than you thought it a good opportunity, betrayed him," Hawke shot back, hotly. "And I can't help but draw a goddam parallel with that situation and this one, so I'm just laying it out there right now. I don't trust you like Osiris did. I'm not that foolish. So you watch what you do and what you say, because you don't even have one chance with me. We've lost Osiris because of you, and no one else."
They were driving rather fast as Hawke spoke.

"Make up your mind then!" Anatoly snapped. "If you don't trust me, hang me out to dry and let Indigo Rose take me out. I mean, you've clearly known I was lying from the start." He rolled his eyes. "So I'm indelibly stained in your eyes. Fine. What. The ********. Ever. If you don't trust me, ditch me. I'm not going to justify myself to you, and I'm not going to explain myself to you. You have fun with your black and white morality."

Hawke actually turned to look at Anatoly, eyes full of total disbelief. "You...you really like to play the victim, don't you? What the ******** are you saying, black and white morals? It's pure logic; you betrayed the person I admired most, so I expect that you'll probably try betraying me. I don't even see where morals enter into this equation."
They drove in silence for a minute. "And to answer your question, I'm not abandoning you for two reasons. First, Osiris wanted you to become a Blazer, so I'm going to make sure that what looks like his final mission is completed. And second, this situation with the Roses means that if I don't keep you around, I'd be making a stupid decision with no logical base, and I refuse to do so."
They would soon arrive at the station.
