Natsumi smiled anyways, missing the joke completely. She'd heard many accents growing up, many sayings.. and most of the ones she picked up were now far out dated.
She stopped fidgeting with her food as he spoke, almost getting aclueles slook as she tried to pick the words out of his different speach... It was good though, practice makes perfect right? She caught Telling make sausages in the morning... hate.. eggs... and that they make him sick in.. something. She tried to look more interested than confused, she nodded to say she got it, a habit she'd picked up since some people would try and slow down their speach for her.
She gave a few picks at her food, starting to cut off another bite. "I do not think I've ever cooked... sausage." She had probably done something simmalar, but "sausage" in paticular didn't ring a bell.

Alec watched her curiously as she calmly nodded, looking attentive to his mumblings though he was unsure if she was truly listening or not. He didn't really mind, he had an audience. "Neh?" The mohawked youngster blinked, wondering how exactly it was possible that someone on the planet hadn't made a breakfast link before. Who was he kidding, she was eating an omlette for cripe sakes.
"No' a brunch weineh? Sausage link?... 'ot dog?" Man, could he go for a hotdog right about now. Hell, he could probably make one up if he really had to though the degree of charring was obviously unpredictable. "Wha' meat d'ye eat fo' breakfast then? Ye from some..." He stopped midsentence to wave his hands in the air in some exaggerated motions. "... weird... place o' somethin?"

A dog? Was that a racist joke? Her head was slowly tilting to the side as she tried to catch up --Wait. HOT dog! She immediatly perked up, as though she'd just figured out the multimillion dollar question on a game show. "Hot dog! Yes. I have not cooked one, but I have had one. Pork... yes?" She paused a moment, eyes drifitng up in a thoughtful mannor...
She seemed excited over the fact she had figured out what he was talking about. "Pork... Hm. I have made Tonkatsu, and Minudaru... Rafuti, Sooki...Kuubuirichi..." she tapped her fingers while trying to remember any more "Aa, and Deekuni." She let out a breath, smiling cheerily once more. "Most was at school, or for the shrine." With that, she took another bite, trying to drop back into a more.. submissful conversation on her part.

Alec nodded, though he was a bit confused now. "Po'k? Well... ye, a' guess i's made ou' o' p-" He was silenced as Natsumi promptly went into a proud rendition of a resturaunt menu, rhyming off words or dishes or something with excitement. He stared dumbly, interested, but truly lost.
"Ye.... ye los' me at po'k, luv." The teen mumbled admittedly, stuffing a piece of cantalope in his mouth and downing it with more sausage. "Wheh did ye say ye were from?"

Natsumi was left with a blank smile at.. whatever he said. The only thing she caught was love, and that didn't make any sense. They were tlaking about food, not relations... Unless he loved pork? Maybe that was it... Wait she hadn't said where she was from, had she? Once again, slightly confused, she shrugged it off "Japan." she repsonded simply, deciding again not to go into regions and countries unless they actually asked... And she didn't feel like this man would ask. She promptly took another bite, dwindling down her omelette... It was a good reason to stay quiet for a few moments though.

"Ooooh..." Alec gawked at the answer that he'd finally understood clearly. "Tha' makes sense." For some reason he got the impression she was feeling a little awkward, perhaps out of her element. There was nothing he could do really, but be as polite as a rambunctious teenage male could be.
"'Am Alec by th'way."

She hardly wanted anyone to be anything but themselves. She'd often start picking up the accents of thsoe she spoke with, and if they spoke too slow then she'd start to as well. Then again, Alec's accent wouldn't be good ot pick up no matter how he said it, but she didn't think about that. She was still a teenager at heart, only worrying aobut making a good impression for the moment.
"I am Natsumi." She nodded, bowing her head some. She'd finally gotten the hang of saying her name the american way... it felt wierd, but atleast it would keep from confusion. "Where are you from?" it always seemed best to repeat questions back... good conversation for reasons no one would ever know.

"Nice t'meet ye." He nodded in return to her formal introduction, taking the opportunity to slug down half of his glass of orange juice to spare him some time. "Uh... 'am from Ireland." He kept it simple as well for the sake of easy understanding. Hopefully she would have heard of the country before.
"Are ye new 'ere? Y'look changed, a' must've missed ye aroun'."

"Nice to meet you." She echoed, almost feeling bad she had forgotten to say it. Not that it seemed to matter too much in english she still would feel bad not to. Ireland? She nodded some. She'd heard of it... Some kids were talking about men in skirts... other than that she'd only heard of it during her geography classes. And he wasn't wearing a skirt... right? She hadn't quite gotten a glimpse, and she wasn't about to duck under the table just to see.
"Yes. I just arrived about a month ago. " she paused to look over the scales that were creaping out of her sweater's sleeve as though she'd forgotten about them. "Oh.. yes. A.. reptile. I'm not sure what kind yet..." Speaking of sweaters... She'd long ago noticed just how warm it was out... and how a sweater had been the most unappropriate attire for the island's climate. Still, it hid her pudge.

((**************NEW SCENE****************))
Nathan rubbed the bridge of his nose, willing the headache to go away, as he made his way into the cafeteria. He was pretty sure the food he had stocked up in his duplex had gone bad. Most of it made him feel ill, and lately he'd just been avoiding eating, because eating meant having to go outside, which meant facing images of what he might become in the other islanders.
This morning, however, he couldn't stand the flip-flopping of his stomach any more, or the hunger headache, and something inside of him was tugging him out of his place to mingle with others.
He blinked in the flourescent lights of the cafeteria and focused on the food line. "Couldnt' they have put a nice 4 star restaurant on this island?" he muttered as he claimed a tray for himself and set it on the rails.

Finally his food storage was completely gone (the food his mother send him for the trip was enough to last him a week). Cody hadn't figured out yet he could bring food to his own room, so the trips to the cafeteria were becoming more and more frequent
He opened the door and picked up a tray for himself. Only when he turned to the buffet he noticed the man there. Another person that had yet to change

Nathan groggily grabbed a cup from a shelf and filled it with hot coffee. The sound of a tray beside his made him steel himself to glance over and see what new horror would meet his eyes. He half prayed it would be Alec or Ivy, since the two of them were somewhat familiar to him and wouldn't cause him to grimace offensively. He found himself, instead, looking down at a young boy.
His eyes widened for a second as his brain tried to process the fact there was a child here. My God, he thought, He's just a kid. These people are sicker ******** than I thought they were. He forced a weak smile at the boy and offered a small, "Hey there..." as he dumped a pile of sugar packets on the tray beside the coffee cup.

Cody simply looked at him, half embarassed as always when around peoiple he didn't know. But he noticed the reaction he gave him. It wasn't the first, but he hadn't figure out yet why some people looked so startled to see him
"Hi..."

Nathan slid his tray down a foot or two to the first of the food offerings. Some rolls felt safe enough to eat. He grabbed a couple and a few pats of butter, though the thought of the spread made him a little uneasy for some reason. He smiled at Cody, too curious to let it slide. "Are you new here too? I've only been here for a little bit. How old are you?"
A sniff at the next vat, filled with macaroni and cheese didn't make his stomach twist, so Nathan emptied a scoop of it onto his plate. "Want some?" he offered to the boy.

Cody started slidding his tray too, trying to decide between the food variety while he anwsered to Nathan
"A week or two I think. And I'm ten. You?"
He looked at the macaroni and tried to decide if it didn't go against the diet requirements he had been imposed. Probably if he ate some salad it would be ok
"Yes please"
