Ultramarines are among the worst. Everyone wants to be Space Wolves, actually. Or, if not that, Angry Marines.

I personally see a lot more Templar players than anything. I guess people like that whole thing of Army-wide Preferred Enemy or something...
*grumble*
It pisses me off that the old boys at GW let a newbie take the reins on the Marine 'dex. I need to find that boy and throttle him for defiling my Legion of the Damned. There aren't enough in the goddamn galaxy to support battles like that!

Shinobi_8745 Nowdays I actually do see more ultra-smurfs and relictors more than anything else. Because there's no reason not to. It's like, say, I could take Iron Warriors, or I could take Slaanesh and make the enemy units dance to my whims and jump within range of my AP3 flamethrowers in fancy template formations. Needless to say, you'll see more people take Slaanesh than Iron Warriors.

I heard that, fire-link. People who play to win at all costs sort of annoy me because of their tendancy to "bend" the rules. I play two non-twinked out armies and I enjoy them and their backstore. Then there's the SPESS MEHRENS players with a whole bunch of Tornados or three monolith armies.
Seriously, knock that s**t off.

If you have the spare bitz and confidence in your conversion skills, I'd recommend using regular Assault Marines and converting those for the Vanguard. You save $10, and they're plastic instead of metal. If not, the models are perfectly fine though. You may wish to supplement the squad anyways though as they're only five big and all of them [potentially] come with special weapons [though if I had to guess the Plasma Pistols would be the first casualties].
