So I have a conundrum here.
Do Kindred count as undead for the purpose of energy drain? Let's take a look.
Energy Drain basically drains someone's will to live, provided they aren't undead or constructs because those are assumed soulless. The rules regarding undead are pretty specific when it comes to their destruction. ( They die at 0 and don't have the -10 buffer. )
The Kindred ( or Cainites ) by contrast to regular vampires, apparently have their "soul" intact. I don't know if this is supposed to be metaphorical or literal. A lot of things in VtM tend to make the Kindred out to be "alive" in a sense, even though they are undead. They use the blood of others to prolong their lives, but seem to follow some of the usual rules of mortals.
I'm stuck wondering what the answer should be, for the sake of clarity in the future. If a vampire is squishy and has a soul should Energy Drain rob them of it, or is it protected by virtue of some dark mysticism that reanimates them?
