At the name, Tellus did visible startle, her body tensing. She sucked at lying. She was even bad at evading with words, really. Between the children's actions, and then someone saying her mistress' name, Tellus was frazzled and wasn't even aware she was being led anywhere.

"Oh Gaia...I'm sorry..." was the best she could do as she made to help him. She had at least noticed he was 'injured' and she was polite and helpful if anything.

"Uh...what's a Ra'kar?" Yeah, she knew it wouldn't fly, but it was the best she had.

Weightless and empty, that's what her words amounted to.

"Oh, she's a wonderful lady with a most devilish sense of play about her."

He paused at the door to the bar and opened it for her, pushing her in he followed closely behind. Always keeping a hand on her shoulder.

The place was clear of people considering the time so being noticed was easy; finding a seat was also easy.

Quin would seat himself to where his back was towards a wall and he could watch the entrances. Tellus he would have sit beside him so as not to block his view. He ordered cider for the both of them and he just looked at his companion.

"Tell me what you know of Ra'kar. It has been long since I knew her company."

When he ordered cider, Tellus' eyes brightened up like a child. It was one of her favorite drinks. She didn't even knew bars carried things like that. Despite her womanly appearance, she was much like a child most times, with an innocence beside her.

And by the time the cider was ordered, her thoughts were a bit more ordered as well. At least as far as Ra'kar was concerned. She was naive, and perhaps a bit trusting, but anyone who thought that Ra'kar was wonderful couldn't be all bad.

"Yes, she is wonderful..." sounding just a bit like a teenager with a crush. Yeah, not exactly forthcoming.

The cider was provided and Quin made damn sure the bottle staid at their little table. His own glass he drank quickly and promptly refilled, he had a feeling he was going to need to prepare himself for a very difficult conversation a head of him.

Somewhere in between his first and second glass he agreed with her and shifted gears on how he was going to find out information. Before anything of worth could be learned he needed to know the basics and he still didn't know her name.

"So tell me a little about yourself....?"

Tellus looked up from her glass. At least in that respect, she was adult like. The glass was held like an elegant lady. She did have manners, she just got easily excited.

If she could have short fused, she would have by now. This was all supposed to be so direct and easy. Nothing ever actually was that way. "I guess it depends on what you want to know." Tellus wasn't really a talker. She liked listening to other people more.

"How about you? Why'd you randomly stop and help a stranger? You don't look the normal Gaian hero type." And he didn't seem to know who the kids were on sight, like it seemed half of Gaia did.

"Well a name would be nice."

With that he proved he knew nothing of her, further distancing himself the normal folks one would run into. It all made him smile, distinction, it was a feeling he enjoyed.

"But no I'm not your typical person, don't see too many folks out with a limp."

As though it needed further notice he tapped the head of the cane on the table, it was an interesting design. A dark green, near black, stone carved to resemble some sea monster.

"As to why, because it was the right thing to do. You said it yourself, those kids were behaving like brats."

"My step father has a limp...or did...well...still does on occasion" She shrugged it off. Dante was...well, Dante. "Oh ...a name..." Crap. She shouldn't give her own name. But...he didn't seem to know her so...

"Jade". There. Not a lie. And she had gone by it before. It was in fact, her middle name. But with the 'Oh...a name...', it might still come across as a lie to most.

"As for the brats, most Gaians that don't hold themselves up as Heroes seem to think that a hero will help someone so they don't have to. Well, unless they are villains, I suppose. But then they'd probably help the person doing the bad thing..." Yeah, that was Tellus alright, fairly straightforward, childlike attitude on things.

He would find the truth of her name later, there was always someone who could tell him who she truly was. Full name and all. For now Jade would work just perfectly.

"Jade, are you trying to make me feel old?"

While some days he felt positively ancient he knew that every time he looked in a mirror he didn't look past thirty and could swear his age was pegged down between twenty seven or eight.

He kept his voice light and reasonable though, occasionally taking a drink.

"Dastardly thing those heroes are, nearly been killed by a few of them before. Got my limp from one. Poor b*****d though. Heroes have such short life spans if they aren't careful."

It was true after all, it was just a matter of perspective and for now he painted that b*****d as a good guy that had gone and done something stupid.

"Make you feel old?" How could she make him feel old? Dante was like a bazillion years old, but contained in the body of a 20 something. Her mother...well, don't even get her started on her mother.

"I think heroing is one of those businesses where you either die young or you become greater." Just a bit of cynicism. But that came from dealing with Tomorrow.

"I think...I'd just love to be normal." She sighed, and bent her head, sipping at the cider happily. It was toasty warm, and lately, every time she was away from Ra'kar she felt cold. In fact, her skin was more than warm enough and if anyone touched her for too long, they'd get burned, not from the heat, but from the faint sizzle of steam pouring off her body. The heat was contained within a one inch radius of her body. but her aura was also filled with Water energy, and the two conflicted.

The first comment was ignored, there was no need to bring further attention to his limp. Even though he intentionally kept his leg in that condition when there were so many healers that could repair it.

"Yes being normal is something to be desired."

Quin had never been normal by society; but a return to his old status quo would be something he'd cherish.

An odd thing puzzled him though because his hand was becoming rather warm as though a pan was heating on a stove; but he dare not suddenly remove his hand from her shoulder, she hadn't drunk enough. It did though remind him of an individual he had encountered once.

"I tried my hand at "heroing" once. Was a most disagreeable situation, almost killed when some devil of flame destroyed a dam."

Devil? Flame?

"You've got to mean Kasuga...err...Vahn. He's known as the Devil. He gets into everything." She could be wrong, but he was the only person she'd ever heard referred to as a Devil of Flame.

"He's in the Tournament, I believe." Funny thing was, Quinn's hand didn't bother her. In fact, a few times, she snuggled closer just for the sheer pleasure of human touch. Her back was bare since the shirt just covered the front and then tied in the back, so it was nice to have skin on skin contact.

The web was tighter then he had first thought, or this seemingly naive individual knew far more then what one would expect. This all required thought and it gave him pause.

He never knew the individual's name from the dam; but he had a good mind of all those that were entered into the tournament. Why his mind hadn't connected the two sooner he didn't know, given time he would just put it down on his focus on Ra'kar.

"The tournament yes. It has been quite entertaining to follow the fights."

Of course he didn't know if Ra'kar was even in the tournament, he'd just seen the pictures of a woman that would far too similar to her to not be. Oddly enough she was teamed up with an individual Quin had started to fight at the same tournament where he had met Ra'kar.

Things were very much interconnected and he was only finding out this late into the game.

"Do you have any thoughts as to what team shall win?"

"Umm...I actually just got here right after the first round. But I'm sure Vahn is playing on a team, so I'll root for him since he's almost family." She thought for a bit. "I'm pretty sure Sunstrike is on a team. Probably with Vahn. At least he was for the last two years. I don't really know anyone else. So probably whatever team Vahn is on." She hadn't had a chance to really see if she did know anyone else on the teams yet. Her mother had played last year, with Sierra...sorta...but from what she understood, Sierra was dead.

She took another drink and thought of her mistress. Making her even warmer inside. Yes, she could take other lovers, but none could compare, really. She wiggled slightly and sighed happily.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 12:38 am

"No, those two aren't on a team."

Only real reason he kept track of teams was because of gambling pools.

"Think it caused a stir among some of the more ardent fans."

Things seemed real tight nit in this group, Quin needed a way in and he had long wonder what was the best way to go about doing so.

"Almost family? You must know him well then."

And there went another glass of cider.

"Mhm...not really. I think because I was--" She cut herself off. "I hung out around the stadium a lot. Oh!" She turned her head, the looped braids would hit him slightly in the neck area, but...there were no braids there in the illusion.

"What's your name. I can't go around calling you, Hey mister." She just realized she'd been babbling on and on, and you were supposed to be polite and listen to other people. Her cider sipping was slow. She was just now finishing up her first glass. She sat it down, and didn't refill it however. She was curious.
